As an esfp, I endorse your description of our inferior Ni. I often get this obsessive feeling of a mission or calling as a way to stop the Ni from getting in the way of my impulses. As an INTJ one simple way Ni-Se works for me is when I decide to purchase an audiophile DAC or iem. I calculate how long the product will last, how many use case scenarios this device has, how much other necessary purchases I will have to make throughout the year and the budget I has, is the purchase a valuable addition to my music listening experience (Se) or merely an indulgence and so on. Usually, these calculations make me truly understand the value of a particular device and also help me keep a tight hold on my budget. In fact, these calculations are not really abstract or anything. Just practical with a long term perspective (Ni-Te).

Hey I'm curious :D would you mind describing what does it feel like to have Ni tertiary ? The fact that the 3rd function can sometimes overpower the 2nd functions (in socionics for exemple) is usually widely acknowledged by the community, like the Ti/Fi of INxJ. However it's seems like the tertiary "intuitives" functions (of ESxJ and ISxP) are discarded. I wonder if your Ni actually might occupy a larger spot in your psyche than in mine, as I have Ni auxiliary (making you more "intuitive" than me despite the letters). This is how I describe the difference between me (ESFP) vs my ISFP and ISTP siblings and father. I am like a Gibbons. Yes I’m agile and physical but I make a hell of a lot of noise and subtly isn’t my strong suit. I also use my Se so much that it can get me hurt a lot or make dumb decisions with it 😂. My brothers and father are like the stealthy jungle cats. You don’t expect them to do something physical suddenly but when their Se comes out, they are way more quiet, way more smooth, and a lot more agile than I am. I think with it being in their second slot, it is much more purposeful than it is in me as it just happens continuously and without reservation.

I have left a similar comment in another video of yours (on INFJs). I don't think there is any natural way of life per se. Taken to an extreme, the Se way of life can be hedonistic and even irresponsible. "A nation is born stoic but dies epicurean". While ENTJ's and ENFJ's do not have high slot Se , Se will almost automatically be the way to respond things as there simply is no Si to balance it as it's their worst function (polr). So as a consequence Se ACTION tends to be the response for them when it comes to the physical world, even though it might not be the best option....They just tend to go, go, go (untill they drop?)

You just very effectively explained me in a way I've been pondering over for a while. I can test to be INTP, but have nearly as often gotten ISTP. Occasionally, INTJ or, lately, after being with people a lot, INFJ. Confusing. But, when I watch the differences between myself and my "always testing to be INTJ" hubby, it gives me insights when listening here. When in emergency situations or family crises together, he'll back off and let me take over. In fact, I become like an ER professional. I'm easily "there" with my medical research data available for me and my people-analysis skills in high gear. Then, when the dust settles or the real professionals get there, I happily fade into the shadows. I do the medical and psychology research for fun, then it's available for real world upheavals, but I prefer actually plunging into my art, music, and writing. Thank you for your insights and study. It is pleasant not to be a stereotype. 🙃😀

However, when I have an open space and a stick, I loooove practicing bo staff fighting. The reason why is that martial arts combine meditation, philosophy, and sport into one, all of the things I need

Interesting. I don’t know if I’m Intj or infj but I know I seem to heavily rely on ni. I did martial arts with a class/group for a period of time and really really disliked it. I liked the philosophy but the repetition and constantly doing the same thing without improvement or way to advance on my own I disliked. I got burnt out on a few months but I continued for over a year and a half until the place closed. I think it could have been the way the person led the class. I always found track to be my favorite sport because of the high mental and physical challenge without the redundancy of martial arts but with so much room to improve off of effort.

So it is in fact isfps and istps that suffer the intj infj analysis paralysis stereotype. This can make them reckless, or overly cautious. It really depends on the type of istp/isfp they are.

My father is a ESFP (not a very welldeveloped one), and he is actually a worrying person, more than what is healthy. But I think it's sort of related to his SE. If he can't just to straight from idea to action he can't handle it. When he has to do tasks he loves he gets into tunnel-vision-mode just like you said and stops at nothing but he has a hard time getting through things that are unpleasant to him. (I guess more mature ESFPs can hulk through even the unpleasant things but I don't know that many)

I stereotipically relate the Se function with natural kinesthetic intelligence and even spacial intelligence. That affects to sports, but also rythm, orienting yourself or even usign manual tools more effectively. I also realte Se with living fully in the present, with almost no interruptions of future oriented thoughts (Ni), past oriented thoughts (Si), or atemporal possible scenarios (Ne). Because of that I relate Se with beign more perceptive of what's happening around in the external world instead of their minds. I see more possible for a Se user to get distracted by an external stimulus they could contemplate empirically, and there would be high possibility the high Se user would even react actively to such stimulus. Other types would react passively, or they would immidiately get engaged with an idea inspired by the external world, but they would keep the rest of the process in their own internal world, and they could even lose focus on what's happening around. Besides I also relate Se to enjoying dressing nicely, caring about your image, giving great value to quality material goods or enjoying physical pleasures a lot (sex, drugs, food). As a example I'm INxP, and I believe a friend is ISFP. She really cares way more than me about clothes, makeup and looking good, and she always dress very nice, while I tend to care very little in comparison. We both used to go to painting classes when kids, and we both love arts, but I notice she usually likes to copy photos and real life motives and she has never been into drawing from imagination, while I have always preferred creating characters and worlds and art that would be oriented for comics, books and animated shows and I have had to force myself to be interested in real life motives in order to develop skills and get better. Also, when working with paint, oil pastels or charcoal, I'm messy, I tend to get my hands terribly dirty and sometimes that pigment in my hands get in the drawing and I have to correct afterwards the mistake. Sometimes paint reach my hair, face or clothes. I usually lose sense of my body and surroundings, which has the problem that I don't have awareness of how dirty my hands are until it has caused some inconvenience. My friend however seems like she's tidier and very careful with keeping the environment clean, she never gets her hands as dirty as I do. If she gets her hands dirty she would notice immidiatly, stop painting to get her hands clean, and then continue.

I rather enjoy Se, except my Ni is often just like, "oh, you're relaxing? You think you're going to pay attention to that thing there? lol, no. we're going to ponder this other thing". I seem to either have focus or obliviousness with Se... not much in between. There's indulgences, but who doesn't to some degree? Then there's times when I must take on an activity outside of my head to distract myself from myself, lol. -INTJ Also on the topic of Se... The very apparent ESTP guy yesterday that was not at all put off by my bugger-off demeaner that I purposely have when I'm taking or waiting for public transport... There was some talk about living in the moment and the situation he found himself in that pointed to a chaotic lifestyle. I'll spare the topic-diverging details for now, but I'll say he saw something he wanted and was quite persistent about it.

I enjoy INTP humor. "4:12 they are noticed for better or worse...they use it to get attention on them selves intentionally and sometimes intentionally" LOL For me as an INFJ, when I know I need to Se, I first focus myself quietly and gather my energy. Then when I'm ready, I can Se without stress. But it does take a moment of charging it feels like. At least that is my preference...Otherwise, I do prefer to be in a lo-fi mode of Se the most like cruising in the car to music while meditating on something, just observing my environment without causing effect on it necessarily, or learning to perform tasks by watching and then doing... Another thing with Se inferior is quick reflexes although this might sound counter intuitive. But when something drops around me I'm quick to catch it - my grandma knocked over some porcelain thing and I was walking by and caught it almost the moment she knocked it (I think Se filtered through Ni hero somehow) but it's like I feel things instinctively around me. Like if I drop my phone I can catch it on my foot to break it's fall. the other day I had a tight shoulder I was trying to loosen so I punched to the side hitting my glass of milk I forgot was there but pulled up just in time for it to tilt half way and fall back in place. but stuff like that where I have to laugh and say no way haha One final Se inferior thing I can think of is that we have a light tread. I sneak up on people all the time without meaning to. Sometimes I have to make noise when I notice they are not hearing me in the store or where ever. Again, we are catlike; light tread, quiet but quick reflexes and a preference for jazz in the nocturn hours lol Okay last thing on Se if anyone is still reading. This ties into a light tread. I think Se inferior absorbs it's environment. If Se hero gives energy to it Se inferior can take from it. What I mean is (storytime) once I was cleaning a salon suite for a job and when I finished I went to my car in the parking lot. The lot is backed up to an open unused lot of land. On the other side is a house with a bunch of fenced in dogs barking and barking which is out of sight behind some bushes and such. I think to myself that they sound stressed so, nobody around, I quieted myself in the moment in peace and I swear I caused every dog there to stop barking. There was a perfectly still calm. We couldn't see each other but I know they could feel my peace. Then, realizing my work there was done lol I took wonder in the moment and left. (crazy INFJs lol) To me I'd rank it Se Hero: Forceful. Strong. (Tyson) Se Parent: Forceful by choice otherwise chill. (Jordan) Se Child: Confident. The ones to dance on a dance floor when no one else will. (Axl) Se Inferior: Smooth, light and quick yet certainly not unusable as seems to be the mbti reputation. (Iverson) Anyways, good video ma dude, I appreciate one on Se.

I get the feeling that our type is a response to our environment but with the perception of a previous response and over the years it’s tug of war with all of the types until one turns out to keep us most comfortable with how things are and once we become adults it’s more solid in stone because it will take a lot more to shake the established preference

Yeah I completely agree I commented this before. The only thing within type that I think is probably more genetically linked is intuitiveness (but not absolute by any means). It's remarkable the amount of Fe doms (including myself) who I know that had to keep a harmonious environment in childhood or had to be more aware of other people's feelings to survive is so high. Similarly with Te doms that I know, almost all of them had to take charge and keep things moving in the household/ childhood to keep things together and in control. I used those examples because I know a lot of ExxJ's but you get the point. The environment has such a strong subconscious influence on us in my opinion way more than genetics.

I like kitties-Istp, ok and on topic '-' my eyes flare up when i feel energy circulating in my body and facing off a tough opponent whom i can go toe to toe during sports. All stimuli i love, good taste, sound, vision, scent, touch. I also believe that i am able to appreciate these more than others around me. And ah i thought about deleting this comment about 5 or more times but stopped so that people could know how Se feels.

My ISTP boyfriend has trouble with seeing far into the future and he is always asking me "why do you care if it isn't happening yet?". Sometimes it's a great advice, but sometimes it is the most stupid thing that could be heard. I have planned my future for at least a year [it is important, because we'll graduate from highschool and we need to know what are we going to do after] and he has no thoughts on what could possibly happened in two hours. Luckly i am here to plan the future, and he is here to ground me in the present. Fair deal.

As an INFJ, personally, my Ni filters out Se. Vice-versa too. I question every time I obtain new info. I check out everything to reach a conclusion that's usually right. Or I use it to challenge, breakdown or reevaluate my thought-process. I value the aspects of using Se. I want to "live in the moment" too. But it's so frustrating when you have no access to that. Aka, being restrained from using it like this pandemic for instance. The main reason I feel detached is because nothing is going on for me. I'm left alone, dealing with scenarios in my safe-space. It gets the worst when Se clashes with Te. As for physical activities that Se is so much recognized for, I'm personally quite fit and would tone down the pacing a bit if it's something I've never done before or comprehend thoroughly like handicrafts or cooking specific recipes.

My mom is a Dom Se and my big sister is an aux Se user, so it makes things hard to reach to them (I'm a Dom Ne) or even talk to them since my Ne is too big it always made me procrastinate and being straight-up lazy. And they were always like "Why are you worrying about something you haven't done yet?" or "Do it now or you will regret it more," and the whole conversation was like; me: *procrastinates because I have too many ideas and it's overwhelming* My big sis: Why didn't you do your work yet? me: I can't... I have no idea ( a white lie, nothing wrong right?) Big sis: Just do it as long as it was finished me: no... My Se is so bipolar. It's either at 10 or 1, depending on how I perceive a situation. This can be quite unpleasant and drives other people nuts. They tell me I have an on/off switch where ought to be a dial. They tell me I'm like a Corvette on blocks: theoretically works great but not going anywhere. I don't know what to make of it, whether it means Se is inferior or almost nonexistent. I'm working on addressing this, but it's a long and frustrating struggle.

Hey Nathan, In your video you said that because Istp's have seconds slot Se could be thought of as the most "effective" Se users, I was wondering if you think this logic applies across the board of personalitys as in "Intp's could be seen as the most effective Ne users" or "Estp's could be thought of as the most effective Ti users" and as a follow-up question. If the second slot is indeed the function that is the most "effectively" used could this be correlated to or as a result of the socionics demonstrative opposing function i.e Te to Ti or Si to Se. Kind Regards An Estp

Actually no. It’s about providing an experience to your partner in bed. If my partner is dominant and that makes them love the experience, then I will be submissive and same goes the other way. I am all about making sure the other person is having a good time, everything is comfortable, I am paying attention to body language and I very rarely am caring about my preferences. I already love the sensory, I want to give that experience to others not selfishly keep it for myself since I am already constantly attuned to it.
