Yeah the biggest problem with NFT games, other than the fact that they built on an architecture of scams, is that they don’t give a shit about the gameplay. It’s like buying trading cards for a game nobody plays or cares about, because maybe someone else might buy them from you for more! But when everyone realized nobody actually wants to play the game, the prices will plummet and everyone will jump ship.

I'm a unity dev and what earth 2 has made so far can be made using stock HDRP and a terrain editor called map magic 2. Also unity as an engine is incapable of handling world's the size of earth. Internally unity uses floats for everything. You simply cannot represent surface areas as big as planet earth in unity because float will literally run out of memory and lose precision. Farther you get from the origin the worst it gets and eventually everything will breaks. There's no solution for this except may be ton of loading screens or re writing the engine using doubles just like what UE 5 did.
@dax608402 жыл бұрын
If your lighting is dynamic (and it has to be for a game the size of the earth) you can always use origin shifting (every time the player move too far from the origin just teleport everything to the origin). The issue with this technic is that physics will act wonky as fuck during the shift if you don't have low level access to the physics engine and engineers to modify it. They probably have neither. The float to long conversion (like they did for Star Citizen) is not needed to handle a vast world, it's needed to show planet dynamically moving millions of km aways without "cheating".
@dax608402 жыл бұрын
But you're totally right, they're a scam company and are not interested in solving technical challenges anyway.
@pewpew5182 жыл бұрын
@@dax60840 Yes you are right. That's actually what I meant by loading screens. Considering the game world is whole earth, moving the whole planet and all the stuff on it like grass, animals, buildings etc around the player would take a long loading screen at the very least. Just imagine the amount of transforms you have to reset (im assuming earth2 is actually going to be populated with cities and all )

NFT is not a scam, kid.. It's a brilliant technology that people have utilized for art, which I agree is not a great utilization of it. The inernet is a brilliant tech that people use for stupid purposes all the time. Doesn't make the internet stupid, does it? NFT will provide transparency in our digital future and provide security and truth. You are obviously young, so you'd be smart to study up on crypto/nft/blockchain tech. The more you learn about it, the better you'll be able to profit from it. Investing is a great skill to have and there will be so much opportunity in the coming decades. Just put literally like 15 dollars into a few coins, and that will get you following them, learning about them. You'll see your returns in percentage doing excellent... and get a feel for crypto... then, by the time the market fluctuates back to the upside, you'll be equipped with enough knowledge to find good projects, invest and make the easiest money you'll ever make in your life. What could risking $15 hurt? Buy like, $5 of Ethereum, $5 of ADA and $5 of XRP, and personally I think your $15 is very safe, these projects all have bright futures, and you could be starting yourself down a path of investing, at a time where there is so much opportunity for investors. Only idiots get burned by dumb crypto and NFT projects. And Crypto has so many dumb people, but also the smartest people in the world are cleaning up. Don't feel bad for people in the space, feel bad for idiots. Wise investors are rolling in money. This is maybe the best advice you'll ever receive. Don't let Mutahe talk you out of the biggest financial opportunity EVER. Not just our lifetimes... Of all time. Bigger than the gold rush. Mutah is clueless when it comes to crypto. He's the most paranoid person on the planet, that makes him a shitty person to listen to about speculative investment.

I don't know if it's exactly the same thing, but this reminds of people spending RL money for property in Second Life, which has been going on for ages.
@Smithor2 жыл бұрын
Not quite the same thing, with Second Life there actually is a utility aspect, the "land" is really just a server that you are renting, all aspects of that land are just virtual representations of the servers hardware. You can still do things with that property, while in the cases that Muta is describing, there's nothing but a model viewer. Otherside is selling World Of Warcraft, but only delivering Wow Model Viewer. Second life, while getting on in age, at least gives you something for that transaction. And it's only like 100 dollars for a single month, as opposed to over ten k. SL land is also effectively infinite. The 10k someone would spend on an image here, would buy you like 8 years of rent on a full region in SL. Massive differences (although similar looking on the surface, which I suspect is the only reason its gotten this far).

I’d say at least in the US (where I’m from) 90% of people are just psychotic hedonists. They actively hate the struggling, the working class, and anyone who doesn’t pat them on the back. People adore Elon Musk for spending $44 BILLION dollars on something as useless as Twitter, yet if a fraction of that went towards infrastructure, feeding the starving, rent relief he’d have stopped all those concerns and been the SINGLE most gracious amazing person in the world.

The thing about NFTs that needs to happen is that they need to be USABLE in some way - not just for the sake of being worth money. That way, it ACTUALLY can’t be copied (like images can be) and owning it actually means something. This is part of why I’m excited for Illuvium - NFT Games are an ‘easy’, but brilliant way to have ownership over specific code actually impact something, even if it’s in a small way like recording the history of an Illuvial.
