We go from such an idyllic scene of townsfolk gathering to listen to a lecture while the victim sits at home reading a book to murder most foul and vigilante justice. Wow! Not the sort of good old days we tend to think of when we mention the past. Thank you for sharing the story. Monday would have been her 202nd birthday, by the way.

@shirleyashanti3031Ай бұрын
I would periodically hear that term in court cases, mostly from detectives describing assaults of elderly women. The DA would always ask them to clarify the term. The victims used even more archaic terms, and cases were hard to fit statutory language.

'Outraged her modesty ' is the verbiage used, much better than sexual assault.

Check out the Hopewell Cemetery in Andersonville, Indiana. I didn't know until I visited it, but the Wright Brothers Grandparents had a farm next to the cemetery and lived there for awhile when they were young. I have quite a few relatives in this cemetery. We have relatives related to both Sam Houston and Ulysses S. Grant. For example, John Houston Scott, 1805-1891, had the same grandparents as Sam Houston. I am not sure if this is interesting to others, but it is to me because of my relatives being there.
