Ok Ponds is my second favorite clone (my first is Denal), but the purple always made more sense to me for the 187th. Considering that as far as the clones know, Mace has the only Purple lightsaber its more unique and they would be proud of it... That said, the live action actor for Mace wanted purple so he could find himself on screen and having him among a bunch of purple troops would defeat that. So maybe the writers chose to keep it brown in honor of the live action actor, or just as a gag because of that

I am pretty sure Mace Windu's clones are maroon/burgundy coloured since that is sort of a mix between Mace's purple and the traditional red of of the 91st Recon (since according to TCW, Mace's unit was the 91st Recon).
