The 1958 Buick Special Dynaflow and Torque Tube Struggle is REAL!

In this episode we manage to slide the Dynaflow transmission back under the Buick Special and finally get everything back together.
The Special rides again and works great!

In the Eighties, I had a '55 Roadmaster and then sold it to buy a '56 Century that was a lot nicer and was LOADED with options. I always had trouble with the Dynaflow in the '55, but the '56 was apparently a redesign and was supposedly a much better transmission. I've quit with the old car hobby for the most part, but I'd sure love to have another one. Your '58 is killer!

When is the two post lift going in the shop ?

Gonna be a four post when it happens. The kind that ya don’t bolt down and can move empty as needed. We saved up for insulation and heat… a lift is on the short list for sure.

I have same ahead with my 1958 Century. How loose was the tongue ball? Were you able to wiggle it about?

The old torque ball wasn’t nearly as snug as the spec we put new parts to. But it wasn’t flopping around either.
