Күн бұрын

We actually got the three speed column shift to work on my 1966 Bronco! We also addressed the carburetor, mounted the seats, replaced the brake shoes and drums and addressed about a half dozen other issues. Lets see if it'll handle a road trip with all of these new updates. I'm into this thing pretty deep labor wise and "I know what I've got" but if you really wanna own this first year Bronco it could be yours for the low low price of only $24,999. As always, thanks for watching!

A tip for greasing Zerk fittings when you are pumping grease in listen for the grease going in to push air out past the seal and stop when the air stops, if you pump grease in until you see grease coming out you have over greased and blown out the seal letting dust in and eventually ruining what you greased.

I got back interested into working on old cars because of shows like yours, working on cars with what you have. I grew up in a era where if what you were working on wasn't Hot Rod magazine worthy you'd never be satisfied with it. I know that the guys on KZbin want a million subscribers but when they get there they move right into the build that a normal person can't do because we can't afford. Glad to see instead of just buying all new parts you work with what you have. Keep up the good work.

That sure takes me back, I picked up my '66 for $700 in 1988! It outlasted more than a few Ms. Wrongs, until I finally married Miss Right! Gave my son the option of the Bronco or a 1970 Olds Cutlass convertible for his 16th birthday. He chose the Bronco. Ah, but the memories and a few grainy pictures still serve me well. You were smart to use a GM style brake light switch. I had a ‘66 Galaxie and the factory pedal mounted spring type switch on my car let me down several times. When the Ford design fails the brake lights stay on continuously. Many times I walked to the car and got greeted by the warm glow of the brake lights slowly sucking the life from my battery. I used to keep an extra switch in my glovebox at all times. Right next to a box of glass fuses. But in all fairness I drove the old girl daily for almost 10 years. She was pretty good to me. Take care man!

Drill the pilot hole with a regular bit first BEFORE you approach w the hole saw, and work from the back where it's concave so the bit doesn't wander downhill and do it on a 2x8 or something so you can push. How did I learn all this? The hard way, with a set of Dodge caps for my buddies 69 Power Wagon.

The Zerk design, named after Oscar Zerk, used a fitting much smaller than the Alemite pin-type and did not lock the hose coupler or hand gun and fitting together. Instead, the seal between them was maintained by the pressure of a pushing action when the operator applied the coupler to the fitting.

Measuring the alignment works pretty good, if even to get it to the shop for an alignment. Did the drag link in my 77 Ferd and drove it to work to have the shop align it. I shocked myself that it was spot on.

I use that bearing packer too, with a pneumatic grease gun. And you're absolutely right about having an oxy acetylene rig ...indispensable, as is old Duff! Like your video.

I’m a locksmith and so I do a lot of work using hole saws and I have run into the exact same thing where certain grades of stainless push plates on doors WILL JUST SMOKE A BRAND NEW 2-1/8 inch hole saw. Even tho the stainless plates are thin ,.... they are crazy tough !!! I CAN RELATE ! Thanks Mortske

At 1:57:10 when you're trying to get it started it looks like there's something leaking on the side of the engine block just in front of where the exhaust connects to the exhaust manifold. It may be running down from the carb though. There also appears to be some seepage around where the hose from the PCV valve connects to the carb base. But wait, there's more. When it fires off there's a puff of smoke that shoots UP from behind the exhaust manifold towards the carb. I haven't reviewed your comments so I don't know if anyone else has pointed out these observant observations, so I might be Duffing up the wrong tree. Great vids man! I have a 77 Bronco that I've had since 1980. I put a fiberglass body on it in the late 80's for obvious reasons.

Thanks for a few laughs. I thought you was an N gin ear from your trial and error method on that column.I applaud the ridiculous amount of patience you have to repair a Ford. I own a 66 Tbird. I feel your frustration. Thanks for explaining the use of the cool tools. I ordered a cyclops. Duff needs some warm, dry weather to stretch out and get some sun.

As someone with Midwest upbringing...How many older folks can remember these as "Ford Dog Dish" hubcaps. Every ranch and farm usually had a few of these being used for animal feed bowls for dogs, barn cats, baby chicks, feeder piglets, etc......
