A good old friend of mine informed me that the owner of a 1963 Buick Riviera that was rotting away in a barn was ready to part with it. And I do love me a big old Buick, especially a first generation Riviera! These cars were a nice combination of sport and luxury and were regularly equipped with bucket seats, power windows, console, tilt, cruise, A/C and many other options to boot. So lets see if we can get this first year model back on the road after sitting for 27 years! This car has been SOLD!! As always, thanks for watching!

I've been there many times myself and you always feel like the world's most intelligent and powerful man when it finally happens. When I was 18 I bought a $500 car (a 1990 Dodge Spirit 2.5 turbo) from the dealership that I worked at and it wasn't running. My uncle kept telling me, "you'll never get that thing running!" An hour later I checked the timing belt and it was off a few teeth, so I took it off, lined everything up, reinstalled the belt, turned the key, and she fired right up. I drove that car for quite a while before I took a sharp turn in boost and the oil sloshed to one side of the oil pan (that's almost shaped like a cone) and it snapped a connecting rod. It was a 2.5 turbo I engine and it had 170k miles on it, so it was fairly weak to begin with. I scrapped it. Those engines only made 150 HP and the turbo was a TINY Mitsubishi TE04H. I bought a larger Dodge Daytona T3 turbo for it, but it blew up before I could modify it. I'd LOVE to have another one to tinker with.

I NEED to be working on some old S41t box but I’m upset at the process and issues every single time. In two decades, this has never changed. “I just want this thing done!” After it’s done, “I NEED A NEW PROJECT”. **edit** It’s a catharsis for many. I’m a network engineer by trade but a gear head by passion. The more stressed my job is the more I need car projects.

The Buick nail heads were popular in drag racing because they are torque monsters. The 401 Nailhead was also called a 445 Wildcat, with 445 being the torque and 300 hp. Not bad for car most consider their grandpa's car. I love the 1959 Buick Invicta/LaSabre with the 401 Nailhead and Turbine Transmissions were so smooth, couldn't feel them shift.

It was built to the hilt, but it blew up, they wanted to finish the season so they went to a junkyard and pulled an engine out of a wreck, stuffed it in the Sprint Car greasy and dirty and finished the Season with the Championship 🏆!!!!!!! Everyone didn't believe it wasn't "built" but it was not !!!!!! Right out of the wreck and into the Race Car 🤣😆 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! True story !!!!!!!

Always loved those Rivieras. I was most partial to the 1970 model, but then I started to grow attached to the new 1971 design. It was so crazy that it became lovable. Oh, and I really enjoyed Duff!

Hey mortske i have the same issue with new trucks. They have the same upper and lower a arm configuration. What i always do, is take a large ratchet strap and wrap it around both control arms. When you crank on it, it squeezes both arms together.

I'm sitting here listening to names going...."no that sounds dumb" and then you come to the part where you find a floor mat that says John... Lmfao my name's John! Basically telling me, shut up kid 🤣❤️! Love watching your videos tho Mort, I'm in the process of reviving my old 1955 Buick I saved from behind a cow pasture last year. 322 nailhead, minimal parts replaced, Just got it running recently actually! I listen and watch your videos while I work on my car, and I cannot thank you enough for all the motivation. The laughter also keeps me calm in those tough moments.

My Dad had a 64 Rivera that was loaded with equipment, it even had power wind wings. The optional 425 cubic inch engine made this big car quick. The leaded gas of the day tended to foul the spark plugs and eat up the valves. You needed to take it out on the road and blow it out on a routine basis. The covered headlights were in 65. My Dad paid less than five grand for it new. He liked the 64 so much, he bought a 70 Rivera. Mechanically, it was a better car. Your video brought back memories.

90's Riviera.... In my over 50 years of automotive love affair.. from '57 Chevy & 5 Olds up to formula 1; Mid 90's Riviera looked to me the best styled / understated body that came out of the General. Please!!.. Fix 'er up and enjoy her on weekends with the family. THAY'S what they were designed to be! And the Awesome candy apple red paint that came on them... made this Iconic car look stunning! I would give a lot to find one of these with a decent body..... & engine!

When I was a kid, our neighbor bought one of these brand new. It was gold color, black interior. Just beautiful. I was friends with their 2 boys, and occasionally got to ride in it. I remember thinking this was a great car. Ice cold AC worked great. That old freon was so much colder than modern freon.
