For additional information, interestingly New Zealand, which adopted the same size as Australia for all its coinage, retained this same-sized round 50c piece as its relevant coinage all the way until the coinage reduction in 2006. However, the New Zealand counterpart of this coin had never been minted in silver at all.

How should you store them so they don’t tarnish ?

I would say keep it in a cool and dry place, try to avoid temperature fluctuations and use silica gel packets or dehumidifiers. This is because tarnishing is often sped up by moisture in the air. You should also store them in 2x2's to minimise contact with the air, or even better, if you have a higher budget, coin tubes or capsules. When holding them, use cotton gloves to prevent natural oils getting onto them. You don't want to store them in humid areas, on concrete grounds, or in cardboard boxes. You may want to get a second opinion on this but I hope this helps
