That was truly a very special team. Quick story. There first championship team they were going for record amount of wins in a row playing against Cincy. They were down by 5 points with 18 seconds left. The game was on tape delay and my dad and I watching. My older brother comes through the door and sees us. We are like we do not think they will win. He says yes...the Knicks won the game as he heard on the car radio for the record. My dad and I thought he was joking. Sure enough we watched the Knicks pull out this amazing victory to set the record!! Truly an amazing unselfish team that was so fun to watch.

Marv's play by play of the Bucks game was on the Knicks Championship LP\Record. My older brother bought it for me, and I do not know how many times I listened to that Bucks game. I heard it live and it has stayed in my mind for all of these years. Truly AMAZING!

Lakers in 1972, lost game 1 to the Knicks, and came back and won the rest of the Finals. Knicks in 1973, did the exact same thing, in the rematch.

used to listen to Knicks on AM radio in North Carolina when I was a teen in the early '70's. I probably was one of the few people down here who knew who Marv Albert was (pre-cable TV). Plus, I was a AM radio sports and music junkie, back when AM was king. I loved to pick up stations in different cities & states; that's how I became a Knicks fan!

Reed badly injured his shoulder in game 1 against the Hawks and it left him unable to shoot in the 1971 playoffs. They defeated the Hawks but lost game 7 by a 93 to 91 score to the Bullets and afterward Wes Unseld admitted we knew Willis was badly injured and used as a decoy to set picks, rebound, and play defense. It was the only time the Bullets defeated the Knicks in 6 consecutive playoff series. Then in November of 1971 Reed was lost for the year after 11 games and his left knee and was never the same player. He returned in 1972 playing limited in 69 games and in the playoffs also played a limited role until games 3 to 5 of the NBA 1973 finals against the Lakers. Somehow Reed willed his way against Wilt Chamberlain to 61 points, 33 rebounds, and 10 assists in only 96 minutes shooting 54%. It earned Reed a second NBA Finals MVP Award. In his last season of 1973/74, Reed only played 19 games missing 47 games with a right knee injury and continued left knee issues. He returned right before the 1974 playoffs and tried to play in 11 playoff games and was a shell of even his 1973 playoff self. Reed averaged 3.4 points and 2 rebounds in very limited action and was told he would need another operation and at age 31 retired! Horrible medicine stopped Willis Reed! RIP Captain!

Great video and unbelievable that Marv Albert is still calling NBA games after 40 years! This was the smartest pro sports team ever! Bill Bradley, Jerry Lucas, Phil Jackson, and Dave Debusschere were all incredibly brilliant minds and team players. But in my opinion, Walt Frazier made it all go. I don't think people remember how great he was, passing, scoring, defending, especially in big games and pressure moments. He was as good as any point guard I've seen other than Magic Johnson.

I sure hope so because I've been a New York Knicks fan since the time I could walk and unfortunately, I wasn't around back in the 70's to see the Knicks win 2 NBA Championships. I was in middle school when the Knicks losted to the Rockets in the NBA finals back in 1994 and I had just graudated from high school in 1999 when the Knicks losted to the Spurs in the NBA finals and I still haven't gotten over it. :-(

It only took 3 rounds and 12 wins to win the title in these days compared to the 4 rounds and 16 wins you need today, when push comes to shove the Knicks have never won a title worth mentioning.

The difference was Willis Reed injured stepped up in the 1973 finals against Wilt Chamberlain scoring 61 points, 33 rebounds, and 10 assists shooting 54% in only 96 minutes in games 3-5 to earn a second Finals MVP Award. Pat Ewing choked in the 1994 finals putting on a disgraceful show shooting .363% against Hakeem who averaged 27 points shooting 50% against Ewing! Willis Reed champion and leader! Pat Ewing gutless choke artist!

0:26 Jerry Lucas for Cazzie Russel. i thought the knicks got someone else for Cazzie Russel, 1:37 86 to 78. is that right? i thought the bucks had an 18-point lead with a little over 6 minutes left, and they didn't score another point and lost. maybe he meant to say 86 to 68.
