It’s so heartbreaking to see the character assassination of this man on the internet, like he’s genuinely such a genius songwriter and this song has such an importance message. Sadly people will only stay with whatever will give them a viral tweet or tik tok.

I wasn't even a Taylor Swift fan and I knew enough about her and her character to know that Matty Healy couldn't be half as bad as the internet tried to claim. Every single controversy surrounding him was taken totally out of context, such as lines in this song! After digging into his character and what he actually stands for, I'm both blown away by his art and everything he stands for, and devastated that someone who genuinely cares so much about the state of the world is being demonized so unfairly. He doesn't deserve it.

@@wondersoftheworld5 I really do get it! I have since become a HUGE fan of his. I've embraced his "Sincerity is Scary" philosophy and my social anxiety has been melting. Matty Healy has directly changed my life for the better just by listening to his music! And pair all that with his activism? We need more voices like Matty Healy out there. He's great! I'm just upset I hadn't heard of him sooner!

So crazy seeing this after all the recent controversy about him. It’s like some serious black mirror stuff. “Hardening positions based on miscommunication” is exactly what is happening to thousands who are seeing out of context videos, on the wrong side of algorithms, not being exposed to proper research….absolutely insane. He is so smart and has done so much to fight for what he feels is right throughout the years. All for people who hadn’t heard of him til this year have their opinions based on a click bait headline or fear inducing comments and misplaced labels. He is an absolutely brilliant rock/pop star in every sense of the word. Will take years for some people to fully appreciate how great this man is in his prime. There will never be another matty healy!

i was on that side of the algorithm and i believed it at first but then at the same time i couldn’t believe it, so i have researched myself and found the opposite. i think ppl were easily throwing words to describe him and ppl were easily affected by it bc of the sensitivity of the topic. i still don’t know the guy despite him being pretty transparent and i’m just waiting for someone to debunk his rumors with good context so that this is put away for good.

This song really hit home for me in March 2020, as Covid shutdown the world: “…Modernity has failed us… and I’d love it if we made it.” I recall listening to it multiple times early on in the pandemic, and it all made sense. But, weirdly, it became even MORE relevant as time went by. And Healy himself said it during their recent tour - he never imagined they’d still be singing this song in 2022. But it’s just as pertinent and keenly observed now as it was then - perhaps even more so. (Also, it’s just a tremendous song!)

But many people do abuse it to their own benefit. It puts me in a weird position, not believing in a god, but believing in the power of religion. @neveantoniou167 5 жыл бұрын
@tree beard sorry I’m so late lol, but I agree with you completely. I believe that religion was just a coping mechanism invented by people who were afraid. You know, afraid of death, create a god and a devil with heaven and hell, etc. But the concept of religion as a whole doesn’t make sense to me in all honesty. It’s not really logical, plus why are there so many different versions, you know? Don’t get me wrong I do believe in something but I don’t believe in a religion like Christianity or Islam. But I do appreciate the culture of religion and how people do use it to help them through their lives, like you said. However on the other hand religion is so malicious and creates so much evil. People use it to justify their corrupt and horrific behaviour and actions and if I’m not mistaken, religion is one of the major causes behind many wars. Religion is outdated. People are basing their lives on something that was made up thousands of years ago all because they’re desperate for salvation. We are living in a modern world. Religion can not be the leading factor of our world anymore. Though that’s not to say it shouldn’t exist.
