Just heard this song today for the first time. I’m 37, happily married seven years, two kids. But the second I heard this song I was seventeen again, sitting at a blinking red light in the middle of the night after just breaking up with my first love. So much more than a memory, a flashback, I could feel the cool night air and smell the interior of my old car. I’m there again, if only for those four minutes. Like the Cheshire Cat said when Alice asked him, “how long is forever?”, “Sometimes, just one second”. Take it all in kids, even the bad parts.

The lovers are robbing each others happiness and chances in this world from one another. They keep giving each other second chances, “one more fights” only to rob new chances from one another. They cant move on and grow in love because they are so caught up on what they used to have therefore becoming robbers of new things to one another.
@pandulcemamii1116 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it's not like that at all. Sometimes you love someone so much that you're willing to fight with them over and over than find someone new. Of course you know it's wrong. You're not caught up in what things used to be, you're caught up in trying to move forward from the bad past with each other and grow in love but sometimes it doesn't work, so what seems right is to move on from each other and let each other go, but you love them so much you can't.. The same person robbing your chances, is the same person giving you new chances just to take them and give them again over and over.

"Robbers" She had a face straight outta magazine God only knows but you'll never leave her Her balaclava is starting to chafe And when she gets his gun he's begging, "Babe, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay." I'll give you one more time We'll give you one more fight Said one more lie Will I know you Now if you never shoot, you'll never know And if you never eat, you'll never grow You've got a pretty kind of dirty face And when she's leaving your home she's begging you, "Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay." I'll give you one more time We'll give you one more fight Said one more line Be a riot, cause I know you Well, now that you've got your gun It's much harder now the police have come Now I'll shoot him if it's what you ask But if you just take off your mask You'd find out everything's gone wrong. Now everybody's dead And they're driving past my old school He's got his gun, he's got his suit on She says, "Babe, you look so cool, you look so cool, you look so coo-o-o-oo-oo-ool. I found this song in 2016, when i was still in college and doing our on-the-job training in our 4th year. at that time, i was infatuated with the wrong girl, i was also being sexually harassed by my guy best friend and i was sad about my sexuality in general. every time i listen to this song, i am reminded of the days where i used to go outside my OJT's office and take long walks to try and get rid of the pain. i remember the wind against my face, the trees swaying, the heat of the sun, and how i always felt alone. years have passed and things are a bit better, but i always found it amazing how just listening to this, i remember those days perfectly. it was one of the good days where everything was simpler, but it was also one of the bad ones. i hope it does get better soon.

This explanation of the lyrics is kick ass. Thank you for expressing your opinion on this song. In fact, since I have no listened to closely yet, and listen for the time, it was nice to get an idea of its darkness.....and I like The 1975 art to lyrics and Matty is truly an artist in his own right. He can write good songs that reach millions in many ways. That's a true writer. And his passion really performs well. This song and its meaning sincerely inspire me and help me to know I have not been alone...and that I have more clarity now myself.

louis tagliaferro no it wasnt, Matty writes about it being a love song inspired by the Quentin Tarantino film 'True romance' - a film about an obssessed loner who falls in love with a prostitute. The couple fall in love, kill the pimp and run away, the hoplessly in love notion, the escape and the truth that love conquers against all odds. - Matty says this song is an ode to these relationships. All or nothing'

I think everyone interprets this song in a different way .-. Not everyone finds the same meaning in songs and if he did write the song about that, then that's what he wrote this song about but for me, and to whoever else, this song interprets and describes something different.

Lyrics: She had a face straight outta magazine God only knows but you'll never leave her Her balaclava is starting to chafe When she gets his gun he's begging, babe stay, stay, stay, stay, stay I'll give him one more time We'll give you one more fight Said one more lie Will I know you Now if you never shoot, you'll never know And if you never eat, you'll never grow You've got a pretty kinda dirty face When she's leaving your home she's begging you, stay, stay, stay, stay, stay I'll give you one more time We'll give you one more fight Just said one more line There'll be a riot, 'cause I know you Well, now that you've got your gun It's much harder now the police have come Now shoot him if it's what you're worth But if you just take off your mask To find out that everything's gone wrong, wrong, wrong Now everybody's dead And they're driving past my old school And he's got his gun, he's got his suit on She says, babe, you look so cold, you look so cold, you look so cold You look so cold, you look so cold, you look so cold

Really happy that theyve managed to cut a break for themselves. So many bands try for years and get nowhere unfortunately. These were one of the lucky few and thank god they were.

My boyfriend who I loved with all my heart who I dreamed having a life with him; being married maybe even. He showed me this song and he introduced me to the 1975. Now I can't even fucking listen to the band without crying because I just remember the moments we spent together bonding over this band. Before covid hit I was looking into getting tickets but then covid fucked shit up. It's almost been a whole year since he left me and shits never been the same. It's weird how the 1975 has opened my eyes because the music was about breaking up sometimes and abusive relationships etc. And look at what happened to us; and it sucks to know he prolly showed some other girl this song and bro my heart still BROKE
