IMO, their debut is their worst, and the second has so much musical richness but is so underwhelming and too long. ABIIOR is not that great, but it’s still a refreshing listen compared to the last two.
@kaylons5 жыл бұрын
@Blue&Green Can agree with you. ABIIOR should have had some songs and others removed. But there were some refreshing things about it. ILIWYS is overhyped for an album that is also not necessarily filler, but too damn long. The musical style there is amazing, no doubt. But personally, there are questionable choices like “This Must Be My Dream”, “She Lays Down”, “She’s American”... songs that don’t fit thematically with soul-searching or personal reflection... something that ABIIOR fixes, but not quite. Last reply here.

[Verse 1] Irony is okay, I suppose Culture is to blame You try and mask your pain in the most postmodern way You lack substance when you say something like, "Oh, what a shame" It's just a self-referential way that stops you having to be human I'm assuming you'll balloon when you remove the dirty spoon and start consuming like a human, that's what I am assuming [Pre-Chorus] I'm sure that you're not just another girl I'm sure that you're gonna say that that was sexist I feel like you're running out of all the things I liked you for [Chorus] Why can't we be friends, when we are lovers? Because it always ends with us hating each other Instead of calling me out, you should be pulling me in I've just got one more thing to say [Verse 2] Why would you believe you could control how you're perceived When at your best you're intermediately versed in your own feelings? Keep on putting off conceiving It's only you that you're deceiving Oh, don't have a child, don't cramp your style, I'll leave it [Chorus] Why can't we be friends, when we are lovers? Because it always ends with us hating each other Instead of calling me out, you should be pulling me in I've just got one more thing to say [Outro] I'm just pissed off because you pied me off After your show when you let go of my hand In front of some sket who wanted bit on your Nah, I’m just messing

I love many MANY of their songs.....they are one of the best bands out now. But..........there are a fair number of songs that did nothing for me on first listen...or for some time after that. This song is such an example. But, without fail, I keep listening....and eventually fall in LOVE with those tracks I felt ambivalent about initially. That happens a lot. This song is a prime example of that. I thought it was just _ok_ at first....but after about 10 listens, it hit me.....this song is powerful. It's breezy and light in a way...but with a really cool sexy bass line. And the lyrics totally undercut the upbeat vibe of the music. I'm not normally into lyrics....but I can't help it with Matty, he's just so good at conveying really interesting ideas into songs.

i love how you can hear in his voice that he’s nervous (he’s breathing faster than normal, especially in the beginning) but yet he makes it sound so so lovely, kudos, that’s really hard he’s incredibly talented :)
