Today we're discussing the Honda ATC model year that had the second most variations of any other year, 1984! George Orwell missed the mark when he wrote about 1984 because in that book... these three wheeled marvels never showed up... but they showed up here for you today.
Honda sold 9 different models of three wheeler this year, but there were 10 different variations (when you factor in the blue 110). Only 8 of the 9 models were available in the US. There was one model available outside the US, the 1984 200E, which we've discussed in other videos. Felt good to get all these fine ladies together for a photo shoot!
I present to you the class of '84!

Ignore the haters. I have a super nice 84 200x inside my house in the piano room. Only time it gets ridden is when my cat jumps on the seat and takes a nap. If it bothers people so much, they can buy a fleet of their own and schedule in equal time slots so no trikes are feeling sad and lonely on their own watch. keep doing you, because it's working and looks fun as heck

Exactly. I honestly don't give a rip what people have to say... I just like mentioning it to remind the ones who get annoyed that yeah, sometimes I buy them and never ride them! I appreciate you chiming in brother!

Thanks for watching brother!! I get rambling sometimes, so I don't realize how long these are going to be until I get editing and I'm like whoa! And the way I jump around... it's hard to cut things out and have it still make sense... so I just let it fly. Glad you liked it brother!

So awesome...just discovered your channel & started watching; I watched your other video of your entire collection and for me to say it's impressive, would be an understatement...WOW! When I was 9 years old my parents bought me my first ATC and it was a 1984 125M. I cherrished it, but unfortunately my friend talked me into selling it to him when I was 13 and I figured I'd put the money towards a new 4 wheeler, which I did (red '93 Yamaha Timberwolf), but boy do I regret selling my '84 125m off...my friend trashed it. In more recent years my friend Tom, got me into buying a couple of 3 wheelers...I started with a 1986 125M...quite an update from the '84s, and Tom thankfully sold me one of his Big Reds...a 1985. Both of them are real lookers. I envy your collection.

@@ThisOldTrike you’re welcome…I’d like to differentiate between “friend” in my previous comment. Friend who trashed my ‘84 is not the same friend (Tom) who got me into collecting again. Tom I believe actually traded his orange OG atc (first gen Hondas) to you for something a few years back. We’re from Rochester NY area.

Just finally settling in to watch buddy. I personally love the 84 lineup! Although yes...85 and definitely 86 are arguably the pinnacle. Although I feel popularity of the ATCs was very high and now widely enjoyed or used by many families for fun or work. As we know how popular the 84 Big Red was because of the new reverse option and shaft drive. Last year of air cooled 250R so those are awesome! Thank you for letting me ride one finally. And I myself had one of the 84 blue ATC110s as did my nephew. And I always loved the look of 1st gen ATC200X. And 84 was a bit better I suppose with the box swing arm. And THE 1st year 200s which we all love and love the 200Ms. Great video as usual.

Boy does this bring back memories. Had a 1984 second GEN 250 R and almost killed myself on it. Wasvin Borrego Springs California and doing some roosting around the sand dunes end it didn’t go well on one turn. I ended up selling it a couple weeks later those things were damn dangerous.

Nice video of 84 models. The 250r smells and sounds great with 2 stroke , the gas today tends to plug carb up when it evaporates, the non alcohol fuel, if you can find it, plus running carb dry helps keep carb from getting jets plugged up

That machine was very very cool. I owned it twice actually. I sold it to a buddy at first and he needed cash and sold it back to me with a CRF230 dirt bike in the deal (from me to him) as part of it. I had it for a short time after that but it was finicky and didn't like to start with a kick starter... only by the goki and the battery was only really strong enough for 1 start... so if you stalled it... you had to have a booster pack to get it going again. Maybe if I knew enough about valves at the time I could have gotten it dialed in better, but I let it go and moved on. And compared to today's prices... I let it go CHEAP!!
