omg, i remember, as a young, fresh faced 9 year old, watching these slammy awards, and almost choking to death from laughter at the Duggan vs King Harley Race fight, and I was soooo hoping that you wouldn't gloss over it. I remember someone getting hit with a giant fish and punch bowl at the catering table, and that made me laugh, but when Race grabbed that friggin LIVE CHICKEN and started hitting him with it, i LOST IT....i was in tears, and yes, i remember laughing that hard all these years later, because I make sure to bring it up quite often (in what context, THAT i couldn't tell, but i know i reference it a lot). But what I DIDN'T know/remember, is that Race grabbed the poor friggin thing by the head, and broke it's neck and killed it... when I saw the video pop up, I said "god, i hope he talks about Harley Race grabbing that friggin chicken BY THE LEG and hitting Duggan with it"...which btw, is also terrible, since now I realize in retrospect, with how "hard" Race was hitting Duggan with the chicken, it would've broken his poor legs as well...but in any case, yeah, now that I learn that that poor old chicken DIED after being swung around by his neck...so messed up.... but yeah, still funny!!!

One thing you neglected to mention here, is that there's a famous story about Race and Duggan's fight, in that they came back onstage too early. They were supposed to break through the screen in Monsoon's segment with the managers (maybe why no winner was given?), but they broke in before that by accident.

For every step forward a motivational speaker against cocaine use takes for sobriety, a re-watch of Vince's performance here takes seven hundred steps backwards.

The crazy thing is the Slammy Awards isn't even half as insane as some of the "Tuesday Night Titans" bits Vince was coming up with in the mid-80's.
