I usually watch KZbin by myself. When my son came home from work early he sat down in the room with me. I began to explain the soap you were making and the whole process. Why you were doing things is such and such a way. Commenting several times how precise and exacting you were, and how you usually did much more complicated soap designs. I audibly gasped when you started you top design. Telling him, "Oh no, she forgot the hanger swirl ... I cant believe it!" Then the captions started. Lol ... thankyou for allowing us to watch your flub up. You could have remade the video and no one would have been the wiser. We did get quite the chuckle at your expense, and the lesson in humility was as important as the soap making lesson. ❤

ahaha no way, Safiya’s video is how I discovered soapmaking as well. I don’t make soap myself, but I REALLY enjoy watching it! I dunno, it tickles the “this is calming and satisfying” side of my brain. Anyway, eventually I found your channel. So this is a funny full circle

This soap turned out great. Since this was your first soap video you watched and thought you’d like to do that just proves you’re on a whole other level of crafting. Most would say “no way”! My first soap was totally plain Jane. I loved it and I was hooked.

OMG, that Soap Queen video was the one that started me making cold process soap! For a long time, I was scared to death of lye and the whole cold process soap making thing. But once I started, all my friends and family were amazed at my soaps. I have made SO MANY mistakes: i.e., forgot to hanger-swirl the soap; forgot to fragrance the soap (this one has happened more than once); forgot to add sodium lactate; I could go on and on. But it's all good - we learn from our mistakes! Thank you, Lisa, for your wonderful videos - especially the ones that show us that nobody is perfect. You're the BEST!

This was actually a really cool example for me of how if you don't pull the hanger all the way to the top (if, say, you're trying to keep a swirl on the top intact 😂), the drag stops really quite short. A fun video, thanks!

"I don't have any supplies from Brambleberry" 😂 As a soapmaker from the US, that's not a phrase I expect to hear very often. Then again, I've never gotten, nor ever expect to, get supplies from Mica Moma either. I probably don't know what I'm missing! I'm sure they make wonderful product.

@bonnafide2606 thank you. I have a supplier for my fragrances. They are a local shop to me, so I get to go in and buy (👃 I smell all my fragrance before I buy and love it ❤️). The company I buy from is Shay and Company in Oregon. Maybe someday I'll buy brambleberry. I just haven't found a reason to yet.

@bonnafide2606
@bonnafide2606 Жыл бұрын
@@gingeelise Right. That was my point. It's too easy to develop tunnel-vision, forgetting that not everyone has access to the same suppliers. KZbin has a way of fooling you. KZbin videos are so easily accessible, but soap supplies are not! 🤣🤣 It was quite an event a couple years back for Elly from Elly's Everyday Soap when she obtained some Crafters's Choice molds to where she lives in Australia. Crafter's Choice is pretty common here for us, but not so common there, and she had to wait until an Australian suppliers could get them.

great video thank you, im struggling with my recipy (new to CP) and not even sure if it will work and im a little hessitant to send off for the safety assessment just yet as it is very exspensive and cant afford to waste that kind of money :( much love from lancashire xxx
@IDreamInSoap
@IDreamInSoap 11 ай бұрын
Developing a recipe can be a struggle. Take your time with it and make sure you love it. If you're looking to sell soap, which I presume you are as you're looking at safety assessments make sure any expensive oils are necessary and actually add something to the soap. Make very small batches to start with different oils, let them cure and then test them all and compare to see how they lather, how your skin feels afterwards, how long the bars last. Maybe ask close family and friends to test as well. You can't sent them to anyone else before getting an assessment, even for testing, close family and friends only are OK. Also keep a sample of each soap you make for at least 6 month (minimum, I did 18 months before assessment) to make sure your recipe is good enough to not get DOS or degrade in any way. Make sure you spend the time now getting a recipe you love and are confident in before spending money on assessments.

Saphia Nygaard's soap was the first soap video I ever saw, as well. I found it completely by accident. It was January of 2020, and I was in bed with COVID for 15 days. If you surf randomly around the internet for long enough, you'll eventually get to Saphia Nygaard. She's inevitable. From there, I went to Bramble Berry videos, then Tree Marie, then Royalty, never intending to make soap. I was just going down a KZbin rabbit hole between bouts of hacking up a lung. Then, I hit upon I Dream in Soap. You made the Scream soap. I thought, "I aspire to make Scream soap." I recovered before the lockdown started, so by that time, I had all my supplies and equipment and was ready to start making mountains of soap. That spring was scary and lonely. I made soap. That summer, my beloved dog died of cancer. I made more soap. I still haven't made the Scream soap, but I've done some other pretty great stuff. I don't know if you realize how inspiring your videos are. Thanks for launching me into something I've come to truly love doing -- and a belated thanks for helping me through 2020.

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment, I'm so proud to have had some part in your soaping journey. The Scream was a tough one, all that perspective, getting the railings to look as if they were running towards the back was tricky, it taught me a huge amount about how to get pictures into soap though
