I have a 1974 85hp Johnson that I ran for 10 solid years in the 1990's until someone tried to steal it...didn't catch them but they cut the control cables and electrical connections..best running engine ever easy to work on...replaced water pump a few times still have it one day it will run again!!! Sorry to hear about the trouble. Hope y'all get the Johnson fixed up and running again. Evinrude / Johnson are great ol' outboards, and we sure do love ours! Rebuilt our 85 hp almost 2 years ago now, and still running smooth! Thanks for watching! Have a great day!

I had that exact motor on a 20' wooden hull I built. I had that boat and motor for 25 years before the hull rotted out. When I sold the motor, it would still start on the first crank!

We LOVE the Evinrude! Sad that you sold your Evinrude, but maybe one day you can get another!!! Thanks for watching!

are you sure those t stats are in good shape and not stuck open? shouldnt have water come out the exhaust reliefs until they open. if it runs stone cold, it will gall the piston skirts and cause uneven wear at best. 125-152.5f at the top of each head at 900rpm is what it should be. also on the mounting bolts simply back them out one by one and put some rtv (permatex "the right stuff" is excellent) then torque in stages to 40 ft/lbs. as you can probably tell im an OMC outboard specialist. we rebuild and restore about 10 V4's a year! any questions feel free to ask. I actually love that open transom design. really neat looking and easy to get at the motor from all sides. We don't like cutout transoms:)

Thank you for the advice! I need all the help I can get! We recently pulled the Evinrude off of the Warlock 16' due to heavy transom damages. We still have not decided whether we will rebuild the transom, or just install the Evinrude on another boat. Either way, the Evinrude will become our CameraMan boat for our new KZbin Series. The Evinrude is currently resting on our DIY Outboard Dolly. We recently acquired a New Boat (well, new to me!), which will be our primary boat, (We call it our "Pro Guide" Boat). 1989 Mariner Magnum II 150hp. I am having Difficulty finding Manuals and Resources for these Mariner Magnum II Series. If you have resources, or knowledge about the Magnum II Series, I would greatly appreciate any recommendations or critics concerning this outboard. The Mariner Magnum II looks clean inside and outside! We are Deleting the Oil Injection this week, and plan on firing her up next week. 20' Procraft Bass Boat. I would share pictures, but I do not know how to share pictures in the comments section. I will post pictures of our new boat project on my FaceBook Page, Sanco Outdoors. I'd appreciate any advice you have to give us concerning both outboards. Now that the Evinrude is off the board and on our homemade DIY Outboard Dolly, I will DEFINITELY inspect the Thermostats. We have other videos with the Evinrude running strong! We also have several garage mechanic videos documenting our Lower Unit ReBuilding process. I will notify you when we post videos of our 1989 Mariner Magnum II. Thanks for watching! Have a great week!

The motor sounds great. Got to love the old Evinrudes. Maybe just a few seals on the hardware and you're boating. Hope the transom is still solid for ya. Have fun..

We sure do love our old Evinrude!!! We posted an update Sneak Peek of our progress on the boat. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3zYnIiEq8l7qJo This hull rebuild was my first fiberglass job. Lots of work, but lots of fun. Thanks for watching and have a great week! Trevor The SANCO Team

Your plug should be on the outside of the hull. Place the plug in the hole then screw it clock wise to tighten before you flip up the lever. Most of your water was most likely leaking in from the plug installed incorrectly. Swap it around and check again.

We sprayed the Walmart Flex Seal on inside and outside, it seems to be holding, even a year later. But if we need more, I will definitely try your recommendation! Thanks for watching!

isn't the plug supposed to be put in the other side?
@SANCOoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. We installed the Transom Plug backwards. Thank you for your assistance, we installed the Transom Plug from the exterior, and it works great! Here is the latest video of our boat. We got it all fixed up and serviced. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5imdYWQhtJoodk Thanks for watching! Trevor The SANCO Team

Why got kid in boat if know it leaks thats dangerous for family worried about safety for child
@bricestanford6923 жыл бұрын
The boat remains on the trailer for the entire video. The child is wearing a life jacket. I don’t see any safety issues here.

Man I love that boat . Love to find one like it for crappie fishing . I got an 85 hp Evinrude already and a pretty nice 1976 monarch crappie boat with a 60 hp Mercury 4 stroke. Still I'd love to have one that could haul that kind of weight and handle ruff water like I'm sure it does.
