The 1T57 Icon Has A Run In The Northern Fells

Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways
In this video we have 2 days of getting Ian Riley's 1T57 Icon Black 5 44871 as he makes his 1st mainline appearance of 2024 following a period of winter maintenance & getting the Scottish treatment just like his brother & fellow Ian Riley owned black 5 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier with the Scottish smokebox number plate & shed code.
Also for West Coast Railways another air brake fitted loco on their operations books to help out with the work load alongside the company's only air brake fitted loco 34067 Tangmere.
We start on the preview day as we see 44871 run light engine with support coach from The East Lancashire Railway to West Coast Railways's Carnforth 10A depot via Copy Pit.
The visit to Copy Pit for us has been 4 years in the making for seeing mainline steam going over the famous grade westbound & despite the slack & in appalling weather it was worth the trip.
We move onto the next morning as we head to Oxenholme Lake District to see 44871 work The Railway Touring Company's The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express from Carnforth after taking over from class 47 47815 Great Western which brought the train from Euston earlier that day.
Here we see 44871 in fine fettle albeit with diesel assistance from class 57/6 57601 Windsor Castle as the train races through the station.
We end this video on The Settle & Carlisle at Kirkby Stephen and once again seeing 44871 in fine fettle racing through the station during the climb to Ais Gill.
