The $2,900 Evolve Hadean - WORTH IT?

bro i been sayin this stuff for months. ppl are OBSESSED with hating on evolve on the internet. most havent even demo'd a gtr let alone a hadean.. if price to specs say this is overpriced, then a metroboardX, a hoyt. lacroix jaws .lacroix nazzare , kaly 2.0 and many more are even MORE overpriced.. id choose the traditional longboard feel with a 2450 bamboo over a 55lbs clunky botique board with only AT option with only 22miles range anyyyy day. im convinced people are just enjoying the hating bandwagon for some reason. its very strange to me.. and ur reference to cars is great. a say lacroix is a 7 series bmw. id choose the M3 over a 7series all day. premiun, packs a punch, smaller, more agility. and just definitely more my style .. good stuff man! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

Yeah, hater are going to be everywhere man. And especially when you’re the top dog in a given field. That’s just sort of the nature of the beast. Haters receive a feeling of self importance when they throw stones at the top person or company. You see it with brands like Apple all the time. I heard a quote once that basically said that it’s better to be loved by some and hated by others than to not be cared about by anyone at all. Pretty sure Evolve is doing something real right👍

This board is my onsra black carve 2 with a light and and extra thousand dollar price tag🤣🤣 I bought 4 shred light 200s as safety lights on the board and a 1000 for my helmet as a spot light for less than a thousand dollars and they're going to do way more for you than those strips under the board. If you got the money and you dont want a Baja board then go for it I guess

At this price you'd be much better to step up to a better engineered board like a LaCroix. Or, for about $1K less, i'd go for a Propel which actually has some suspension innovation in it instead of the very common double kingpin truck configuration. I don't totally hate the board tho for what it's worth

I appreciate the opinion, but I’ll for sure disagree with you. The main comment I’ve been getting from people is an “ooof” on the price, so stepping up to the Lacroix is going to only be for a very niche market. Their boards looks super fun, you just need to mortgage your house to get one. And the Propel isn’t in the same category as the Hadean. It looks cool and all, but it’s an off-road board only and you’re not getting anything like the carveability that surfers and skaters crave. I wouldn’t even look at the Propel as a skateboard anymore. Or certainly not a board designed for skaters. Both look interesting for what they are though!

You can't compare a street board like the evolve to a true off-road board like the propel. They are Verry different products for two Verry different use cases. No one is going to commute to work on a propel and no one is going to do hard core offroading with the evolve.

FIRST KNOW that its in revewers BENEFIT to hype the board their reviewing (for future sampling and thecommission they make on the coupon), so dont take these videos as reviews.. they are adds. second you can get a board built as good or better (same or better specs) with half this price tag, evolve is a toxic company with an avreage to low level engineering. and unlike what they like to promote they are 100% chinese made ( not a bad thing!) like most of other brands. save your money

The Endeavor does look really cool! I think if you're looking to ride purely off-road, then a board of that style might be right for you. I'm going to be riding about 90% on the street and 10% off-road, so I don't want the extra heft of that suspension. It's at a great price as well though, so more budget conscience riders might lean that way. I think as an overall board though, we don't have anything on the market right now to compare with the Hadean. And I'm totally down to try if there is!

I think the fact that the most common board being compared to Hadean is $2,000 says volumes for both products whether you think they are in the same category or not, they appeal to the same rider. Both are new though and both still need to be proven.

@@DavidManningvlog lol it is the same class and in it's own unique class with the awd. The hardware on the atlas is amazing. Exway may not be the best at organizing and fucked up a bunch (definitely not as much as evolve has) but from what the reviews are saying and from my personal use on the atlas, it is top tier. The motors preform way better based on size and the torque is unreal. Being able to customize the front and back individually is amazing. The battery isn't that great but people have had no problem making an auxiliary battery that give it a ton more range. The fender idea is so cool for shred lights. The design is also the best design I have seen for a 'traditional' longboard.

@@DavidManningvlog Over here in australia the Evolve boards have a pretty bad reputation for cut outs and throwing people off the board at high speed especially the hadean its seeing alot of problems now. They had the problem with the GTR but now the problem is even worse on the hadean .Dont get me wrong im not a hater i actually like thier boards but i just dont trust them with all the videos and reports . There was a australian rider who was riding with the evolve technician and the remote just disconnected on him and threw him off the board. He went to hospital and the engineer said he was going to report the errors. So for $3400 australian this problem should not exist and this is the main reason why alot of people are looking elsewhere for a electric skateboard. Lets hope evolve sort it out though.

I’m not either one of those guys. More like a BMW M4 kind of girl 😆. Have the GTRs and Stoke and prefer the carbon w 6in ATs because it feels most like snowboarding and carving on the slopes. Man, I would for sure say a long board version for the added stability. I'm a HUGE fan of AT tires over skateboard wheels. After that, is just your budget. The Evolve GTR is about a grand cheaper than the Hadean and for beginners, it's still going to be a whole lot of board! But if you really start riding on a consistent basis, you'll eventually want to pony up for something in this range👍

You are totaly biased in this video. How can you justify the price for this board? You didnt have much negstive things to say about this board. The fluxmotion.eu for example at 3000 usd gives you 49 miles range, topspeed of 28 mph and a proper board that you wont outgrow in the first place. This hadean is a toy and everyone in the eskate community knows it. I like the board and the improvements theyve made but for the price and specs you get you could pay less and get a similar board from another brand.

the fact that the evolve has the ability to just apply 100% brakes and chuck you is what put me off them. I wouldn't want anything faster than my GTR it's dangerous enough as is. I thought ppl were just fucking up the brake trigger until it happened to me. ESC blew and applied 100% brakes. There should be a safety feature to avoid that, would way rather it just shut the board off and then I could footbrake. Also, the hardware is soft as shit. Lacroix all the way

@@connorleonforte8678 my board I purchased new. In hindsight, my belts were a little tight, and the motor mount had lost a screw on each side, but that's only because their hardware is soft trash. Currently dealing with another piece of broken motor mount hardware after they replaced the old ones. This one was barely ridden as it was my secondary board. Idk what the fuck is wrong with their hardware. Why are their components such trash? What I will say is that the deck is beautiful, the truck are awesome, lord do I love their trucks, the feel is amazing, but they just really fucked it by making this thing so unsafe. I've never had a problem with my lacroix, but I have heard of an issue where it too can chuck you. I don't believe it applies 100% brake, but I have seen a video of it chucking a guy. To be fair, though, he had heavily modified it. He said something about it being an issue with certain motors and that lacroix doesn't use those motors anymore. I sure hope I have the right motors...but yeah I've been riding it hard for nearly a year now and haven't had a single issue. Not one. Then again, I would have said the same for my GTR before it chucked me. The lacroix really does inspire confidence in it's build quality though, I'll say this. The remote is far more durable as well.

Evolve have regular rides in the UK. There are loads of places to ride them, cycle paths, dry woodland areas, i go out with a group of guys regularly, and we never struggle for somewhere to ride.

You say it's not overpriced. I'm sorry but it is very much overpriced. I want to you ride a more expensive budget board and you will see that they are better for much less. I could buy a Meepo hurricane for $1300, buy the exact same esc that the evolve uses (could buy one that even better) and the hurricane will be the much better board. The main thing that causes a board to have certain characteristics would be the ESC. The hurricane has a bigger battery and bigger motors. Once you make the ESC better, then you will see how overpriced the evolve is. I'm not paying over $3k for an evolve ESC. (Which I hate btw).

Not sure if you noted this, but they didn't pay me and they didn't give me a board. So Evolve gave me nothing but a test ride👍 The Atlas 4x4 is a super dope looking board. On paper it has up to 3,000w peak power, half of the Hadean. It doesn't have the same range at only 16 miles and 518Wh vs the Hadean's 26miles and 691Wh battery. It's a good board and all, but they're an example of off the shelf parts, assembled into a board and sold to consumers on pre-sale. They don't have service centers anywhere and when something does go wrong, the process of getting a replacement is brutal. No phone number, nobody to call. You can call Evolve in the US at 442-325-1643. Again, no hate on Exway, I think they're making a super fun looking board for a certain sector of the market, but to compare that board to the Hadean isn't even close. Oh, and 9.5" trucks on the Exway. Any lady will tell you that an extra two and a half inches makes a big difference😉👍

Yeah the hadean has a bigger battery but I can’t see how 150 wh is 10 miles of diverens. They could use off the shel parts but I don’t think so and the board is also more future proof because you can choose 2wd and later switch to 4x4. I gues you have a point with the server centers. The hadean has the rgb lights strips and the atlas doesn’t but the atlas has custom mud gards and a pulling handle and other accessoires so I think the atlas has the lead there. And the 12” trucks are probably better for carving but I saw a lot of people posting about there trucks on the GTR that broke so maybe it isn’t that durable but I believe you that they carve better. I get your point of view but I don’t fully agree on everything. The diverense between you and most eskaters is that you look more at the fun and not so much at the price and I can see how the hadean is a lot off fun but for that price you can also get a lot off other maybe more fun boards. @@sharky1854 The reference you were checking out might have been off a bit. On their site, they have the 2wd listed at 2000w Peak Power and the 4wd listed at 3000w peak power. They're also using a 12S3P battery in the Exway, so that combined with the lower power motors is what accounts for that 10 mile range difference and will definitely not get you that same WOAH off the line. Again though man, I'm sure the Atlas is a super fun board and they're going to have a lot of happy customers. I just think that once you give this thing a rip, you'll feel the $500 difference pretty quick! If you pick up an Atlas, let me know what you think of it. Would love to hear your thoughts!

@@sharky1854 The difference in range can be explained with the added resistance of the two extra drive trains on the atlas. Some people already said that all wheel drive also makes carving feel a bit weird. If you want to ride exclusively off-road, have max grip on steep muddy hills but also are not bothered by the compromise of loosing range and carving being not as classy then the atlas may be the right board for you. But the best Board when it comes to switching between on and off road the hadean is a lot better I think. In that sense the Atlas (4wd) is not even competition, it is meant for something completely different which may or may not be the right thing for you

You also have the Lacroix boards or just a diy board. The point I’m trying to make is evolve is a dying company that’s already challenged and soon wil be outclassed. Evolve takes long to make a new model and I bet this board in style and performance and feel wil be outclassed in 6 months. And there boards are already worst than the other brands on some points for example the gtr remote is a peace of crap and the trucks brake easy. Evolve is going down the same path as boasted they start of as the markt leader and than get outclassed by everyone. It only takes time in my opinion evolve will be dead in two years. I remember when the guy and gtx where the best you could get but now a lot off brands already come close.

You just cost me a lot of Money!!! I heard your San Diego shout out. I am in San Diego right now(well, for the next 1H:14M). I am waiting on the back-ordered travel batteries so that I may take my GTRs with me. (Trying to come up with a hot-swappable solution). If I get those travel batteries, I will be taken the boards with me everywhere, and I get out to San Diego a lot. I want to ride those hills with you sometime. I'm in San Diego, CA here in the states. For now at least, we're good with the laws and even they seem to be loosely enforced. Mostly, you just can't ride on sidewalks and walkways. Other than that though, you can rip around and have fun!

Do they use these board on roads with cars that go 90km/h most of the time, or on a bicycle path with people who are walking by? My point is that an average e-skateboarder won't cruise at 60 km/h on a road if he's not sure he won't face a sudden big problem in his way. It depends on the area, I see videos in USA (not NY where the roads are rought) where the roads and bicycle paths are perfect. My opinion is that 18s should be reserved to high skilled downhill skateboarders. Especially if you go up, you will go down at high speed.

Robert never too late to start eskating. I started with a cheaper Chinese koowheels board and after breaking 3 of them went to an Evolve GTX which my 32 year old son now rides. I upgraded to a Bamboo GTR which I use to commute with during the week and have fun on in the weekends. I have been riding the GTR for nearly two years and have never had an issue it. I am sure you will love the Bamboo Hadean, just start slow and build your ability and confidence. BTW I am 61 years old.

@@DavidManningvlog When I was a teenager we used to make our own ply decks with kicktails and a scrub pad so we did not wear the ass out of the board, the trucks and wheels were terrible, almost made from chalk this was before the poly wheels. Yound dumb and usually high, weed was also a big deal in the 80's, what a life so much fun and not a worry in the world. No safety gear either, no helments, gloves and always barefoot since it was an extension of surfing, wipeouts sucked, but it taught you to tuck and roll. This Hadean is going to be sweet, thinking of a full face hement, can't bounce back like I did when I was a kid.

@@rmarlin Sounds very familiar although I was making skate boards in the 70's. Still surfing though when the surf is up. Eskating allows you to ride the endless wave. I am a fan of the protective gear these days. Helmet, good elbow and wrist guards are a must. Once you get the trucks dialled in the evolve boards are pretty predictable and the double truck behave and feel like a surfboard.

It feels super stable, so I’m thinking you can for sure get away with a bit of stance slide front or back. I’m more of a stand as wide as possible kind of rider and it feels great. I’m actually super excited to try the bamboo when it comes out. I think a bit of that flex would be really nice! And I’ve been looking into some knee protectors. All I have is my old pro-tec massive knee pads🤣

And the thing is, there's nothing wrong with that category of board, the Sex Panther is a super fun board and at a great price. After riding a GTR last year (28 days they had to replace both motors) I live in a town that is all hills. I loved imy GTR but got a Hadean this year . The Hadean is superior product but 550 miles into the board and had to replace the pneumonic tires. Expensive but killer Controller is better, acceleration is amazing and the best trucks ever

Also the last set of tubes were terrible , five of the ten I ordered went flat before 500 miles, 2 went blew even before 200 miles. These were the last tubes they had, the next set of tubes seem fine but Evolve said this was my fault.

Similar spot on the battery pack facing the rear trucks. The port is covered by a rubber door that fits really well. A bit tricky to get the plug in, but usable. I wish the ports were on the side of the battery compartment like the Stoke though

If you're willing to part from the skateboard format, look at electric unicycles. They are exactly what they sound like. Except the newer ones get like at least 60 miles of range plus can max out at speeds of 55 mph. Also no speed wobbles

Well, technically forged carbon fiber is a lot weaker than normal carbon fiber… The benefit to using forged carbon is, that it’s easier to put in difficult geometry. That’s why Lamborghini uses it for very fancy aero parts. As this board does not have a complicated geometry they probably used it because it looks cool. And you have to pay less attention to how you put it in…
