But Hadean offers pretty much everything you want and has the best remote out of everyone by far, the user experience is nr1. I get if u ride AT then its not as fast but for street setup 40kmh is sketchy as hell and you get to 40kmh in like 1-2 seconds on the Hadean which is insane fun.
@MentalEdge3 жыл бұрын
The reason you haven't had to re-calibrate other remotes, is because other remotes re-calibrate themselves EVERY TIME YOU TURN THEM ON! If you hold the control-wheel off-center while you turn a remote on, it will actually tell you to let go. This is because it needs to re-detect center on power-up to make sure acceleration and braking always works correctly. That the evolve remotes don't work this way, and have to be calibrated manually, is beyond me.

Love hearing your insight! As a DIYer, it blew my mind to learn that Evolve boards before the Hadean used a square wave input to drive the motors (BLDC mode). Like, what?!?? Not what I expected from such a big electric skateboard maker.
@ArizonaJewell3 жыл бұрын
Same here for sure. I’m also a DIY guy and I can’t believe that evolve hasn’t been using FOC. Hobbywing ESCs are FOC capable and are dirt cheap. You can buy a hub motor hobbywing ESC from ownboard WITH a remote included for $29. I have no idea why evolve would shoot themselves in the foot by not using a sine wave ESC.
@rusinsr3 жыл бұрын
@BigFatCone Yup. Single focbox was the first vesc 4 based esc that could do FOC reliably, and basically every vesc based esc since then (definitely vesc 6 based ones) handle it perfectly. BLDC is loud, and braking can catch you off guard. 99% of people use FOC these days.
@ArizonaJewell3 жыл бұрын
@BigFatCone Yeah FOC has become the de facto standard these days. I will say though that I have tried out a couple evolves before and I never would’ve guessed they were running on BLDC mode. It’s a tad jerky, but in lower speed modes it really doesn’t feel like BLDC at all. Still have no clue why evolve didn’t switch to FOC earlier though.

The other advantage of a chassis is it makes it harder for people to upgrade down the line. Can't easily put any other motor controller in there, who knows how the plastic and fibreglass will wear. Stops evolve customers DIY'ing their decks because they're not decks anymore they're a chassis and plastic. One interesting thing is those air vents seem to be purely aesthetics as the bamboo varient has no air vents lol. So it just runs hotter or they're just for show on the carbon? If they've addressed the issues that plagued their previous motor controllers then this board would be sound at the right price point. This board should of been the GTR .. you pay 3k for this thing and next year it's going to be years behind in the industry. Wrong price and wrong year.

the thing is whatever evolve comes up with there'll be people smart enough to make their way to put a proper ESC (VESC obviously) and get rid of their idiotic bms just to make their board usable again after it dies, cause it's crap. even gen 1 carbon got modified so hard evolve can only learn, but hey, it's premium price, so it's got premium service, right? lol, not after guarantee expires, just buy a new, better one. i just hate them so much for trying to be (bad) Apple in this business. it's ridiculous how they brainwash their customers. over 3000 dollars for a board this outdated is a pure joke.

@@lukedudgeon8699 So i struggled with that as well before i got my first board, eventually I called Evolve and asked them about it. Bear in mind that is what Evolve told me and I can not speak for other brands. So the GTR has a 100kg weight limit but that is a performance limit. This is basically them avoiding being sued for false advertising. The limit is the the weight where you can reach their top speed and range. The GTR with AT wheels is meant to get (from memory) 37km/h and 30km range. I cruise at about 33km/h and my range best range is about 25km. So i figure most boards can take a lot of weight but the businesses just need to put a limit on to protect them self. Also i did get some warranty work done, I came into the store to get it done and they never asked about my weight for it. Maybe they would if you snapped a truck or the deck.

@@lukedudgeon8699 well I have the GTR bamboo. I commute to work on it every day. I ride to the gym and shopping. It is not unsual for me to run the battery down, come home recharge and run it down again. I live in an area with quite steep hills. And at 130 - 140kg, depending on backpacks and steal cap boots etc, it still just goes. On the big hills it slows to 27km/h. I have had it for a year. The deck shows no sign of fatiguing. I thrash it. I am basically seeing how quickly i can burn the motors out. The belts seem to be holding out. The AT tires need to get swapped out every 4-6 months as they lose tread. My goal was 2years with this board because thats about how long i calculated the cost to bring me out ahead of the cost of driving my car. I did wear out a bearing in a motor, but that appeared to be because dirt got in somehow. Most likely moisture. Not sure. If you are 120km, my personal experance would suggests that the GTR Bamboo will not struggle with your weight.

14:50 Does that surprise you? Previously they contracted to make their decks in China and there was a Chinese knockoff of their board on the market before they were even done developing their new remote. So I think it may be time people woke up to what China is doing as far as intellectual property theft. Sure, as you say, it leads to boards that are "comparable" at half the price... but what about the components? I've yet to test a Chinese cell that actually matched what was written on the case. China... needs to get it's shit together and start actually playing by the rules of international commerce. So yeah.. it shouldn't be any surprise to you that they don't ship to China. China... owes them a lot of money... and an apology. My gut tells me that these new boards are made in Australia or some other country that actually honors intellectual property. But I haven't looked into it. It would explain the price hike.

Say what you want about evolve but there customerservice and shipping is spot on. This is coming from someone that’s owned around 30 different electric skateboards in the last nine years . So I’ve dealt with most brands out there from high-quality to mid quality . Evolves our sharp looking and very good carving machines . I’d say their reliability is around the same as most big electric skateboard manufacturers . the difference that sets them apart is there shipping speed .when something goes wrong,It’s very fast..At least in the US. this is why I’ve continuously bought their boards over the years. Though I will 100% admit their pricing is on the high side and I usually find used boards to buy versus paying full retail . Ps I only payed 1200 used for my Haydean. Atlas Pro 1100 for a 4wd

This type of board is still spec’ed like a hot hatch. You pay a bit more because of brand value and in the western countries actually able to get service and warrenty.

the GTR's acceleration is really good imo it's just the price and build quality that piss me off
@twelvewingproductions75083 жыл бұрын
It was their remote that pissed me off. How is it possible that they made one of the world's best out of the box boards and then coupled it with the industry's worst remote? Unreal.
@solomonjenkins95053 жыл бұрын
@@twelvewingproductions7508 in many ways it is an awesome and innovative remote, they just have a few issues that need fixing. Unfortunately, these issues can be quite dangerous...not sure why they went all blingy and flashy before getting the basics down. And the build quality of both board and remote leave a lot to be desired. The hardware is soft as fuck. The charge port flap is annoying, how hard would it be to have a screw on one? The motors are shite. The esc is shite. A plastic heatsink? Really?
@twelvewingproductions75083 жыл бұрын
@@solomonjenkins9505 Plastic heat sink? On the new one you mean? Mine is aluminum on the early example of the Carbon GT I have. I haven't encountered build quality issues as of yet, but I've seen others where the board de-laminates. The rubber flap cover for the charge port was silly as you pointed out. There are also additional niggles but my main gripe has been with the remote. Even their reworked remote was terrible. Going with a smaller battery? Seriously? And a rounded screen so that now no matter how you hold it you have glare? Just silly choices. And then yes, as you pointed out... the way it did its handshake with the ESC was dangerous. I am actually still using the first generation remote with that board for those very reasons. The "upgraded" remote is actually too dangerous to even use as a back up. I still carry it.. but should I ever have to use it as a back up... I'd not use it to go any faster than 8 miles an hour to get me back to my car or home. I do see that they seem to have fixed the remote on their new board. Perhaps I'll get one of those and do a full on comparison review between the two boards. The focus for my channel and my reviews is on electric mobility... not so much e-skate specifically.

I mm looking to buy an electric skateboard for the first time and have 0 skating experience. I’m also 115 kgs and was looking at the exway flex riot and the backfire zealot s. I really like the deck on the exway cuz of their look. But the wheels on the backfire are much bigger and the deck is flexier so it’s more safe and comfortable. Will the smaller wheels on the exway flex make it less comfortable/ safe for a noob like me? Also I live in a place with lots of bumps and cracks

Prices won’t come down until the Hadean 2 drops
@AGuamsk8er3 жыл бұрын
@@RSMethodology They dropped the GTR prices in the past due to competition, so it can happen. Either they drop prices or simply fail to compete at $2500-$3000. People with that budget who want performance will opt for a low end Lacroix or a Flux Motion over a Hadean easily. For perspective, a $3000 Flux Motion has 80 miles of range over Hadean's 25 mile range for the same cost, which is shameful. People in the $1500-$2000 range will simply get an Atlas 2wd/Onsra BC2/Eovan etc. Close or better specs for nearly half the cost. Even my Eovan ($1600 board at the time) has an 852Wh battery that exceeds the Hadean significantly, and it has a VESC which is superior for customization.

Personally, I don’t understand the brand. If it was the same price like the GTR, maybe I got one. But it’s really insane compare to the esk8’s market.. Next, I thought there’ll be more things around that. Like selling more parts for your board or a major’s innovation. Basically they just increase the range, speed, changed the design and the remote. And they are called « Evolve » but I don’t see an evolution at any points and that’s sad. They could have done way more. Chabuduo indeed.
