Bailey, great video! I'll be sharing this with several people. The concept of the 20-mile march is found in the Bible (Galatians 6:9) "Don't get tired of doing what is good (i.e. the 20 mile march), for you will reap a harvest of blessing if you don't lose hope."

The only problem with the concept and implementation of the 20-mile march is that it takes out much of the fun in doing things. When things get going, when you get to the so called "flow"...sudendly you have to stop.

The narrative repeats the moral of "The Tortoise and the Hare" story/fable: "It is slow and steady that wins the race". From my own experience, always make smart improvements by focusing on the biggest constraint. Let's say you want to start swimming. If you start by swimming Freestyle after a few laps you will be done. What would be your biggest constraint? Answer: Air to breathe. So what would be the best new course of action? Turn on your back and swim Backstroke. Initially, when swimming Backstroke you may feel like drowning as only a small part of your face will be out of the water. Interestingly, whilst swimming Freestyle your whole face is in the water and you would never think that you are drowning. Crazy, isn't it? In your everyday life you barely use your arms and shoulders, they just hang there. However, as you swim, they are the main engine and your whole body needs to adjust, you need to grow strength in your shoulders, arms, wrists, fingers. The Compound Effect will work for you. There is magic in rests, too. With every visit to the pool you do your 30min swim, and every time you ask yourself the same question: what is my biggest constraint? By the way, your body is full of hidden traumas, it is just that the one that shows up fastest will block the rest (and it will keep you stuck). As you free yourself from traumas, you may discover your spirituality. Your spirituality is your race to the South Pole. You are competing with yourself. The best race imaginable! By the way, at some stage you will feel the urge to switch to Freestyle. Do not resist. Start by combining both styles, then it will slowly shift to Freestyle. All you need to do is focus on the constraints, find the best answers and count your strokes. Everything else will fall into place over time. What does your spirituality feel like? There are many beautiful signposts. You may feel the need to sing under water, just like dolphins. You may feel your body has turned into 4WD (W = arms and legs). You may sense your body becoming two bodies moving in parallel. You may feel like you could swim - forever, but do not do that too early. You may say you are "in the zone", everything feels flawless. And you may look 20 years younger when out of the pool. You will radiate happiness.
