What makes Abby such a compelling character is that the unlikeable nature supported by our hours with Ellie is completely turned around on us as we are given the opportunity to play into the idea of "walking a mile in the shoes of someone you hate" in a literal sense. Anyone who still thinks Abby was not at all reasonable in her grief misses the point: Grief IS unreasonable. We deal with it in our own ways. Even if they may be unhealthy. But the love and compassion of others (Lev and Yara) can help heal that grief. TLOU2 is one of those games that tests the player on a personal level, asking if they can extend the same compassion Ellie is challenged to extend, and if we are able to overcome grief and find understanding and empathy in the midst of it. On another note, Ava is far worse than Abby by a sheer mile. At least Abby had reasons, Ava's reasoning for getting a beloved character killed was being an annoying little brat.

Hey at least Ashley Graham was more likeable in the RE4 Remake. And I’m shocked that Ruto is not on the list but Navi is. Like at least for Ruto, sure she is the Sage of the worst dungeon in Ocarina of Time, but her motives for going into the Water Temple are strong as she wants to free her people. And this is a true story, but I think I was around 12 or 13 when I first played Ocarina of Time 3D, and no joke, I thought Ruto as an adult was hot. Like she was my first video game crush. As for Navi, she starts to grow on you and her scene of leaving is just heartbreaking, especially with no dialogue being spoken.

Fun fact. While one of the main reasons they removed Mr. Resetti from New Horizons was because of the auto-save feature, it was also because his intensity was actually scaring the younger players. There was even a warning put in the complete guide for City Folk about Mr. Resetti.

Not to mention she was the only character to get their revenge, the antagonist of the game.

A few more mentions: 1. Isaac, The Last of Us part 2. His obnoxious attitude and bloated ego is the main reason the WLF has deserters to begin with, and Abby’s defection from the WLF is solely on him. Branding Owen as a traitor based solely on words of a hothead, and having Abby arrested for doing the research he was too lazy to do, and if that’s not bad enough, he even interrogated all of Abby’s friends over it, including Mel, who is visibly pregnant. This guy is an absolute piece of s___. 2. Manfred Von Karma, Ace Attorney. What he did to Miles is already more than enough of a reason to despise him, but to top it off, his over the top arrogance and his constant bossiness really make me question his mental age. 3. Excelcius Winner, Ace Attorney Investigations 2. The constant manipulations of the law behind the scenes is already enough to despise him, but then you have his ridiculously fake crying. If that’s not bad enough, he also humiliated his son publicly, to a point of even Fanziska Von Karma feeling bad for him. 4. Aura Blackquill, Ace Attorney Dual Destinies. Kidnapping 12 innocent people and threatening to kill them just to get to Athena, that already says more than enough. The fact that Aura either missed or neglected such an obvious contradictory footage that was right under her nose, that clearly shows that she never really cared about her brother, or about her fallen friend. She only wanted to use her friend’s daughter as a scapegoat. Made even more clear by the fact that she doesn’t regret her actions whatsoever, and by her taking glee in Athena facing conviction even after being proven innocent of killing her mother. 5. Screwball, Marvel’s Spiderman. Annoying is quite the understatement for this girl. Her irritating attitude, her obnoxious remarks, and constantly putting lives in danger just to get more clicks, she’s by far the most annoying character I could remember in video games. 6. Anna Williams, Tekken. She may be attractive, but her sl___y attitude really rubs me the wrong way. Nina is always leagues better than her in my book. 7. Frost, Mortal Kombat. Ungrateful, hotheaded, bratty racist. Her ego is so bloated, it’s not even funny. 8. Nahyuta Sahdmadhi, Ace Attorney Spirit of Justice. He’s way too quick to jump into conclusions, and it’s made even more annoying by his ridiculously religious lectures. He gives all prosecutors a bad name. 9. Ted Faro, Horizon. You think he was bad in Zero Dawn? What you learn about him in Forbidden West will make you hate him even more. Easily the video game character I hate the most. 10. Hermes, God of War 3. He’s so obnoxious and irritating, and he doesn’t even have the skills to back it up. His boss fight is a joke. 11. Blue, Pokemon gen 1. He’s so obnoxious. He always gloats about how far ahead he is, no matter how many times you beat him, and even in a hostage situation. Boy, was it satisfying to beat him in the end of the game, and see him get lectured by his own grandpa.

Difference between Abby and Ellie, Abby got her revenge. Imagine if Kill Bill just ended with Beatrix settling down with Bill, or if John Wick had a sudden change of heart and spared Iosef. Plenty of more examples, but the point is, getting that far, killing that many people and then finally being at the end of the journey and suddenly doing an entire 180 is completely and utterly ridiculous.

Abby got her revenge and it solved NOTHING. Did you play the game? Abby still gets nightmares and is unable to deal with the loss through violence, only through finding love and compassion in Yara and Lev. Iosef killed the dog cause he was a little bratty shit. Abby killed Joel because she was a grieving, mourning daughter. We don't have to agree with what she did, just understand her reasoning, and Ellie by that point had lost too much, she lost her fingers (a connection to joel) and her family. If she took Abby's life, she would be no better in letting blind hatred consume her, taking away a guardian right in front of their kid. That final Joel flashback was to show that she didn't go out just to "avenge joel" she wanted to fully forgive Joel, falsely believing that killing abby would grant her the peace she wanted with Joel, when Joel wanted her to live her own life (Ellie even notes Joel as having numerous enemies over the years.)

It solving nothing, Spending then the rest of the time with yara and lev and trying to re-apply the same Joel and Ellie formula to Abby and Lev was a waste of time and unnecessary. which is why many don't like her as it feels like unnecessarily forced. Maybe if they separated Abby and Ellie's stories into two separate campaigns would have helped. And sorry, the Joel Flashback is quite abrupt and comes out of nowhere. Yes the meaning is clear but it comes like a swerve similar to the "Save Martha" scene from Batman vs. Superman.

Fi is much more annoying than Navi, imo. At least you could ignore Navi most of the time and while she DID halt gameplay here and there, it doesn't seem like NEARLY as often as Fi did. And Fi did it to point out things that would have been insulting even for a six-year-old.

@@bronzin1445 No one got gaslit to hate them. No one among Ellie Joel and Abby are villainized, more like "humanized" in that we see that there are layers to their actions past what we see. Actions have consequences, some extremely terrible that we aren't even initially aware of. We can love Ellie and Joel while understanding Abby's grief. If you hate one side you've missed the entire point of the game.
