No matter how many times I watch something on this disaster, I always want to watch more. Pemba was most definitely a hero here and so was Ger. Both outstanding men. Hearing about Wilco always frustrates me. His attitude throughout and even after is honestly just gross. Thank you for covering this one. Happy New Year!

I'm only halfway through and I have to agree. Wilco's bad attitude and the lackadaisical shirking of the summit trailbreakers, along with the disorganization, is shocking and disgusting from such a multinational group of experienced mountaineers. They had so much time to plan everything and delegate while the weather had them pinned to camp not ascending

@@adventuresgonewrong I enjoy your storytelling so much, it is top notch. Do you have a background in writing? (Obviously only answer if comfortable with it) I am a documentarist myself and I KNOW how much work and training it takes to put together a "long listen"; keeping the story line straight as well as maintaining an exiting, easy to follow narrative. Truly professional channel you have - and yes, we should never 'go AI", it's abysmal to listen to. 👏👏

I so look forward to your documentaries. You make me feel like I’ve heard the story from someone who was there, if only figuratively. Btw. Personal inquiry from your other drops, What breed dogs are those pups in the background. They appear so similar I can’t help but wonder. They add a calm touch, chilling in the background as horrors unravel. Thanks for making content. It’s great.

Thanks for taking this on! This is a tragic fascinating story with many personalities with differing motivations. K2 is a dangerous climb and in the end the safety conscious, the crazy, the caring, the stupid and the desperate are all vulnerable. There were so many errors, too much caring in one area and not enough caring in another. “No one was listening” seems to be a common theme.

48:55 She's really grasping at straws to justify her callousness. People drive cars out of necessity. There's no real choice not to. & people stop their cars to assist someone who's gotten into a wreck literally all the time. She's climbing a mountain as a recreational pastime without concern for fellow climbers, it's a ridiculous comparison
@KsweetpeaКүн бұрын
I think she meant you keep driving as in, despite knowing wrecks happen and even seeing one, you in general continue driving in general, not "you witness a wreck and don't stop to check on them" Folks keep trying to summit the 8,000m peaks even though there's at least one fatality every year. People keep driving cars even though some 30,000+ people die in car crashes every year just in my country I do agree that it's a scummy way to justify her callousness

An incredibly through unbiased example of reporting. Most sports are now being taken over by trust fund brats, at least that mentality, so why not mountaineering. God help us!

Ed Viesturs was the first AMERICAN who climbed all 8000ers. The first person to do so was Reinhold Messner.

@tobi_talks_2_muchКүн бұрын
Sometimes real life does have foreshadowing. That avalanche was waiting to happen, and the lack of cohesion and preparation was just taunting it. But at the end of the day, the whole tragedy happened because there were too many people on the mountain. Commercial mountaineering companies on peaks like Everest and K2 are the absolute epitome of "the company doesn't care about your life, just your money." More people would come off the mountain alive if they just limited the amount of people allowed to summit in a season.
