The 2009 US Policy Paper that Laid out Future Israel-Iran War

- Far from a series of diplomatic blunders, the escalating tensions in the Middle East are part of a long-standing US policy of baiting Iran into open war in pursuit of containment and regime change;
- As the US has used conflict to reassert itself over Europe, it is seeking to engulf the Middle East in conflict to once again reassert itself there;
- While the US attempts to create plausible deniability regarding repeated Israel provocations, it is the US ultimately enabling Israeli aggression;
- Claims that Washington seeks to avoid escalation contradict US attempts to block accountability for Israel in the UN Security Council;
- Iran has clearly walked into a trap, what remains to be seen is if it was fully prepared to do so, or if it has gravely miscalculated;

A lot has changed since 2009, and Iran' didn't take action without talking to its friends Russia and China. The West hasn't learnt a dam thing about their defeat in Ukraine in fact, they think they are exceptional. The US has also lost its influence in the region, whilst Russia has said don't expect we will stand by and do nothing if Tel Aviv attacks Iran.

Britian special MP David Cameron did an interview that was so bad. He, being a mouthpiece for the war machine, was trying to blame Iran's retalitory attack as unprovoked as justification for Britian to go to war like Isra'il's unprovoked, unannounced criminal attack on the Iranian embassy in Damscus, Syria never happened. But we all saw it. The interviewer nailed his arse when she asked if Britian embassy was attacked wouldn't Britain retaliate. To which Cameron said yes but them stuttered but...but...Iran! If Britian's David Cameron, or Boris Johnson or Sunak or American Lindsay Graham, John Kennedy, Mike Johnson, any and all of them who want to go to war, they can go themselves to fight on the front line. The can risk their own lives, their children and grandchildren's lvies, their wealth and legacy. They want war, they go and lead from the front.

I also saw a report of the stock market short selling. It showed a spike 2 and a half times a normal trading day on 4th October, and what were the stocks? Israeli stocks. Somebody had a tip! It seems that more than one trader knew something was up. I believe that the neglect of security was deliberate as well as their vaunted surveillance ability turning a blind eye.

The world’s costliest weapons program, Lockheed Martin Corp.’s F-35 fighter jet, is getting even more expensive, according to a government watchdog. Nine years after the Marine Corps declared its first F-35s operational, the Pentagon now projects that the cost of operating and maintaining the jet through 2088 will be $1.58 trillion, 44% higher than originally forecast in 2018, the Government Accountability Office said Monday in a new assessment. ''Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children . . . This is not a way of life at all in any sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.'' President Eisenhower understood about guns and butter.

Thank you Brian. I appreciate your work and your ethics and self control. It is a real inspiration and reminds me to work hard to stay patient and control how I express myself. Because these topics of war and how our society actually works are naturally quite traumatic and difficult to talk about without feeling a lot of emotion. I have struggled to control my expression at times and also my perception because of emotion and I appreciate your efforts to keep your own feet on the ground, as an example for the rest of us in how to be ethical and objective in our communication. It helps in all these ways I have mentioned. I had an argument with my mum a month ago and we finally spoke after I watched your last live broadcast and I realised I have to be more patient and take the time to explain things to people when they are saying things they have heard from mainstream western news for example and draw upon the work I've been doing researching these topics and the incredible work others like yourself and others like Andy Boreham are doing. I apologised to mum and promised from now on to be patient and explain things and not get angry and she is always willing to have things explained to her as long I am respectful.

At least there is some kind of dialog between you. It's the ones that absolutely refuse any education who are exasperating to me. 'He is free to make the wrong choice, but not free to succeed with it. He is free to evade reality, he is free to unfocus his mind and stumble blindly down any road he pleases, but not free to avoid the abyss he refuses to see. . . . Man is free to choose not to be conscious, but not free to escape the penalty of unconsciousness: destruction.' Ayn Rand

For their wish to continue a primitive existence. Their right to keep part of the earth untouched, unused, and not even as property, but just keep everybody out, so that you can live practically like an animal, or maybe a few caves above it…. the plan is to keep the money flowing to the military industrial complex. that happens best with protracted wars - afghanistan is a great example. ukraine was perfect for using us taxpayer money to fund the sending of substandard military wares for top dollar prices to be destroyed at the hands of russia. the ukrainians can't even use most of the hardware effectively, they don't read english and they aren't trained properly. worst part is that the us citizenry are going along with it 100%, zero dissent and zero actions to correct the problem. 'voting' won't fix it either since we already know who counts the votes lol...

BTW Iran has informed all its "allies" in the region before the retaliation. So it is more likely a "showcase" to the West of the Iranian capabilities then something kinda of equal retaliation. In any case, lets hope that this Middle East tussle would not go any more further... Many thanks to you, Tony.

The US has such elaborate plans to get themselves into a war with Iran, I wonder if the US has any good plans to win that war. They had equally elaborate plans to "extend Russia", and they have equally elaborate plans regarding China. Never seen anyone work so hard to set up their own defeats.

the wars never have to be won... the only thing that matters is making money and feeding the military industrial complex. the was wasn't won in afghanistan, but it sure went on for 20+ years and made a lot of certain people filthy rich! they want it to keep on raining dollars on their war parades. and the us citizenry will allow it and promote it and cheer for it like giddy teenage girls at a boy band concert!

Why do the Americans write these papers with all their intentions and strategies in plain sight? Doesn't that backfire by making your adversary and journalists (and so the public) aware of your plans ?!

The situation has changed. Russia has Zircon - ship borne - and that really is a game changer. Russia has declared support for Iran. A volley of Zircon launches could likely destroy the Israeli nuclear deterrent in their silos well within any possible decision cycle possible by Israeli leadership. That is a game set and match scenario

As Patrick Clawson of Washington Institute for Near East Policy said in 2012: "I frankly think that crisis initiation is really tough." later saying: "We could step up the pressure. I mean look people, Iranian submarines periodically go down, some day one of them might not come up, who would know why?"

Excellent Analysis as usual Brian. It is great to listen to your opinions on the cause and result. The misunderstanding of the capabilities of oppositions parties or opponents are unbelievable. The damage results are huge and restoration has yet to begin. There is no alternate solutions or plans of withdrawal. A wounded animal dies in pain unfortunately.

On Israel/Iran escalation instigated by the United States is radioactive. Dimona site, Iran might have hypersonics air-to-ground which has defeated Patriot ADS in the Russia/Ukraine war. I doubt sandbagging protection against missile attack on an older design reactor containment vessel would work. On Iran's Bushehr NPP attack would also be vulnerable to an Israeli attack. Radiation wind borne leakage would complicate populated areas in the Middle East.

There is a New Zealand delegation in Thailand right now. It could be interesting to cover them as they have been in discussion to be part of a second pillar of Nato to confront China. Could you cover this please.

It's dumb to fall for that. Just another money grab of the USA led NATO of the dying USA. Send 2% of your GDP, then NATO will deplete its assets in your country on expense of your population. 'Great investment of the USA and not one USA life lost', said several politicians of the USA in the last 2 years about Ukraine.
