Here's how I look at it, they were a Big 3. Say what you want, but 3 All-NBA players on your team is 10000% a Big 3. The reason i respect it is bc all of the three star players were drafted by the Warriors. A superteam would be more of 3 great players of which 2 are MVP worthy or have at least made an All-NBA first team like twice in their career
@kingkunta2977
@kingkunta2977 3 жыл бұрын
@@anonymoustangerine I would gauge a big 3 by if all three stars could lead a team by themself in that sense, the 2016 Warriors weren’t a big 3. A superteam is a team with 2 MVP caliber players and two all-star caliber players

honestly I like duos the most but I also like when teams just have one superstar and build a perfect team around them. teams I can think of like that are the Dwight's Orlando magic, AI's 2001 76ers, Lebron's first cavs, JKidds nets, Dirks Mavs, Nashs suns, KGs timberwolves, spurs. Also when a team has no superstars at all but just play solid as a team like the 2000s pistons, early 2000s Sacramento kings, early to Mid 2000s Pacers, early 2000s blazers. basically I like everything except what the warriors did. I can tolerate big 3s as long as there are multiple teams that can at least compete with them. like the heat yeah they had 3 great players but there were still legitimate contenders that could push them to the limit.

@narrow3601
@narrow3601 Жыл бұрын
@@cjvaye99 your talking about some of the worst teams in nba history. That 2001 sixers are widely considered to be the 2nd worst finals team in nba history behind LeBron's first cavs which I'll get to later but that squad was one shot away from being solo squadded by Vince Carter then should have lost to the bucks in 6 (The 2001 Bucks oddly enough actually fits your assessment) until the refs decided to make poor decisions in game 5-7 even keeping some Bucks players and most of their bigs out for the entire series for a lot of weak shit that David Stern himself said weren't deserving of series bans. Then the first cavaliers who you said were "perfectly built" around LeBron was really just LeBron, other than Ilgauskas the Cavs didn't even have anyone else that were remotely close to being good, 2009 vs Magic is a perfect example, LeBron Put up herculean efforts of 40 pts a night, 9 rebounds and 5 assists per game for that entire series and they still lost in six, then when LeBron left cleveland the squad still had the same exact roster they surrounded around the LeBron and they were a lottery team, and yeah I know what your gonna say that that team was built around LeBron so when he left they weren't gonna be as good, yeah obviously but there's also teams like the 2011 bulls who when losing their superstar DRose decided to run it back and became a perennial top 5-2 seed consistently, there's also the Raptors who when Kawhi left were still a 50+ win 2 seed after he left, then there's the Boston Celtics who were literally going through a rebuild this entire decade and still were always top seeds in the east. Those are perfectly built rosters as you can see even when they lost their star they could still fend for themselves, the Cavs could not. And JKidd nets I know they made back 2 back finals but come on they were never winning.

On paper and at the time no one was calling them anything close to a super team. I remember everyone calling them too old and washed up before the most beautiful team display in NBA history that was the 2014 finals (yeah, I'm a Spurs' fan). I don't think you remember how limited Kawhi was offensively. Yeah, he was crazy efficient in 2014, but that was really his 1st season of being an offensive threat. I love Timmy D but he had lost many steps and Ginobili had 1 or 2 seasons in the early teens that I'd rather forget. And Boris Diow had all kinds of shade thrown at him.

I only just started watching basketball around this year's eastern conference semis when Kawhi made the shot, and I'm glad I started watching when I did. This upcoming season's looking to be really exciting.

The ratings are better when there's superteams. The NBA Finals were at an all time high when MJ dominated the 90s. Alabama is in the football championship every year. Same with the Patriots. And NBA fans say teams are superteams yet they don't win. The heat were 2 and 2 in the finals the warriors were 3 and 2. The Cavs also only won one championship. Imagine if it was that crappy Celtics team led by an overrated rookie in Jayson Tatum and the rockets played last year in the finals. That would be the worst finals of all time.

The super team era started with the Heat. Lebron and Wade and Bosh were the first to use their free agency to join up together and to do it in their primes around 28/29. Also, unlike Boston, this was 3 of the top 10 players in the league. After the Heat, players started exercising their free agency to join up and try to create super teams so the Heat started this.

Boomer Sooner I think so too. I feel like even if Brooklyn don’t win a chip, I’m cool with that because the fact that we beat out our instate rivals to two star free agents, something we’ve never done, and although it’s a risky move, it’s better than mediocrity.

Finally it's over! One of the interesting things about the warriors is that they built a super team out of a already champion team... And they built the foundation out of players that weren't on the spotlight before: who were Draymond green, Klay Thompson, Harrison Barnes, even Steph Curry before the golden years of the Warriors? What were the other coaching experiences of Steve Kerr? It's amazing how he could manage to bring the best of these guys. Draymond is now one of the best Defensive players out there, Steph and Klay clearly the best shooters in the league... Iggy became stronger when the team needed him the most... And after being champions, and a serious contender for the following year, they added KD...

Thank you Dom2K. I been arguing left and right with people who never watched a single game from 1990-2010 trying to tell me that the parity was the same then. It wasn't. The 2010's superteams almost killed my love of basketball, until 2019 where the East being wide open brought me back. It was actually entertaining again.

@@H41030v3rki110ny0u James Harden didnt avg 25ppg in 2012 did he?
@H41030v3rki110ny0u
@H41030v3rki110ny0u 5 жыл бұрын
@ It was the year after, you're right., his first year in Houston he averaged 25.9 pgg, the year before in OKC he averaged 16.8 ppg. But it's not as if he were any different of a player that year after, he just went somewhere that he could shine.. he was pretty much the same player. My point still remains the same: It makes no sense for 20 ppg to be the marker. Look at Kevin Love when he went to the Cavs, which people regard as a super team. In 2013, his last year in Minnesota, he averaged 26.1 points. Here are his years with the Cavs "Big 3": 2014-2015 16.0 ppg 2015-2016 19.0 ppg 2017-2018 17.6 ppg By that criteria that would not be a super team. The same actually goes for the Miami Heat super team, with LBJ, D Wade, and Bosh. Check out Bosh's stats the year before the Heat, and then from there, a few years after. 2009-10 (final year in Toronto): 24.0 ppg 2010-2011 18.7 ppg 2011-2012 18.0 ppg 2012-2013 16.6 ppg 2013-2014 16.2 ppg Chris Bosh never averaged over 18.7 ppg during his time with the Miami Heat "super team" ... does that mean it wasn't a super team?
@Vambiche

The closest thing to a super team right now is the Jazz just because of how much depth they have but, even with that much depth you still need a superstar to lead you to a championship.
