thank you for making this straight forward, non-biased video. i am buying this bike as soon as i finish nursing school this december and save up a few paychecks. i've been mountain biking for 10 years but never owned an expensive/nice bike like this. just cheap hardtails. can't wait to make the jump!

I've rode the ST aluminum version of this bike....what a ride! The slack head tube, lower BB for a 29er allowed me to fish tail that back end in mud like no tomorrow without losing control. Its an expensive bike for sure.....worth the money.

I have the exact same bike, but I upgraded to the Roval Carbon SL Fattie wheels -- big improvement! I love this bike; snappy, planted (yet quick turning), supple, and climbs great. What else can you ask for? It does feel very heavy when I load the bike into my car, but it rides a LOT lighter than it feels. Great review Jamesthebikeguy!

This is a "mid level" one, that is likely to either be the most or second to the most popular level.

I have the Fsr comp which is essentially this bike but in alloy after watching this I realise I saved £1000 by not buying carbon or having a swat box all components are same. Had it over a year now and still love it
@stevenpeyton74765 жыл бұрын
@@bhislop3297 I've had the carbon version since it first came out. Recently I rented the aluminum version and let my visiting friend ride my carbon, and I was really amazed at the difference. I'd say it's absolutely worth the extra 1,000 for the carbon version. Maybe running carbon rims on the aluminum bike would be a good compromise?
@bhislop32975 жыл бұрын
Steven Peyton i get what you mean, I had a shot of one my friend hired when out on trails. Hard to explain what felt different. But it did. That said I still love my aluminium version. But if given the choice of £1000 in upgrades I’d take an xo1 drive chain set up and hope breaks over carbon an stick with aluminium. And given the amount of scratches on bike and on my BB I probably shouldn’t have carbon haha.
@jsv4383 жыл бұрын
Slick! I have the 29r expert. It's funny though, they're changing the fsr horst now on the Stumpjumper to the new rear end w/the flex stays, BUT they're KEEPING the fsr on the EVO? I'll have to ride one in the dirt to see if I'd like that, but seriously these will still be sought after because of that link. Specialized has such great R&D, they rarely make a mistake, time will tell if this new stumpy suspension choice works out. I do like "less moving parts" whenever possible, but not when it compromises one of the best proven MTB designs. I have the rocket red, but I'm really liking that gloss black in this vid! ~JSV

Great video! is it worth it getting the stumpjumper pro model, coming with the DXT2 rear shock i believe carbon wheels, fox 36 forks, and a smoother gear set? the pro is 6300 the comp carbon is 4500. just trying to figure out if the pro would be overkill and if the comp carbon would do just fine. Thanks in advance!

Hey guys, Im struggling with choosing the right size of Stumpjumper 29" for me. Im 179 cm, 78kg Enjoying riding down over climbing, love to play with the bike over speed. What do you guys think?
@Jamesthebikeguy6 жыл бұрын
Medium for sure.
@Nestea0626936 жыл бұрын
I was told by a few specialized sellers that new 2019 Stumpjumper is smaller compare to the 2018 model, thus the recommend me to take L size for 179 cm. M size is for 175cm max. So I still don't know know :/
@Jamesthebikeguy6 жыл бұрын
How is it smaller? The bike's front end got longer to mesh with the new longer front center trend. Just look up the Stack and Reach numbers.
@Nestea0626936 жыл бұрын
I was told its bigger in numbers but you are actually "sitting" lower in the middle of the bike so the bike feels a little bit smaller compare to the 2018 model. 175cm high people are taking M size. 175-185cm L size and higher X-Large. Thats what they told me.

It's an AMAZING bike though. I was going to hold out for a new Stumpy EVO expert (industry is dry now) and found a 2019 Stumpjumper Carbon Expert 29r in BRAND NEW condition, I know huh?! Tough to find an XL frame too. This is insane! I may not even want the new EVO now. Carbon rims, mod with KMC X12-Ti chain, Deity pedals, sram code RSC brakes, waiting on my Deity bars and raceface 32t ring. All I need now is that Cascade suspension mod. Look, comp, pro, expert, it's mostly components no? These Stumpy frames are engineered SO WELL. You see so many riders w/stumpjumpers using different suspension and fork mods, the cascade link, different tires, you have the flip-chip, you can please virtually any rider with this frame. I almost went Kona waiting for the EVO, and now I'm not interested in either because these frames are engineered so well. I WAS a Trek guy, and now I have 3 Specialized bikes, I'm sold. ~JSV

If I get the 27.5 frame can I still swap in some 29 wheels? Or only from 29 frame to 27.5???
@Jamesthebikeguy6 жыл бұрын
29 would be to large in diameter to fit in the 27.5 frame. With the 29 frame, the smallest 27.5 would be a 2.8" tire.
@allsic6 жыл бұрын
Jamesthebikeguy I actually called Specialized yesterday and they told me the 27.5 would accept a 29 wheel and is what they recommend as the bottom bracket is located higher than in the 29 frame... I am.so confused... I want the 27.5 in order to be able to descend like a pro but also the 29 as sometimes I ride for hours in plain terrain...
@Jamesthebikeguy6 жыл бұрын
Your missing that the fork will not clear the larger outside diameter of the bike. Both bikes use the same rear end so it would "fit" but if you bottom the fork out you will contact the tire using a 27.5 tire. Their release doc as you can find online says "What is the tire clearance? On 29 frames will allow for 29 wheels with tire sizes 2.3 and up to 2.6. The 29 frames also accommodate a 27.5 wheelsets with tire sizes 2.8 up to 3.0. The 27.5 frames will only accommodate a 27.5 wheelset but will allow tire sizes of 2.3 up to 3.0"
