*UPDATE* Hyundai has finally announced pricing on the 2020 Sonata Hybrid! Blue $27,750 SEL $29,900 Limited $35,300 These prices are plus the $975 destination charge, which means the Limited Hybrid in this video comes in at $36,275 or a very reasonable $1800 more than the gas online Limited. It also make the new Sonata Hybrid about $1,000 less expensive versus an Accord Hybrid Touring or a whopping $3,000 less expensive than a Camry Hybrid XLE!

The base model of the Sonata, Accord and the Camry each offer the best mileage of each brand. When it comes to the base models of each of those brands, Accors is the cheapest. Sonata is more expensive than Accord. Camry is more expensive than Accord and Sonata. So, one should buy the Accord before buying the Sonata. This is for the BASE trim of each brand. Plus, Hyundai has been hyped and so dealerships seem to price their cars more expensive than Camry and Accord.

Yes, there are. As long as you keep a combustion engine inside, you'll always have to service it like one, but it weighs more than a regular one, so the consumption without the electric part is higher. Hybrids are not much more than a step inbetween, but they combine the worst of both worlds. If you try to drive mostly electric, than you don't need the ICE, if you drive mostly with the ICE, than it have to care more weight all the time and its electric range is limited. Not to mention that most electric cars have enough range for most of us.

It’s amazing what a difference an automatic transmission makes. My parents have a 2020 Hyundai Ioniq. They upgraded after an uninsured motorist hit them and totaled their Prius. I hated driving the Prius - it was like driving an iPhone. Their new Ioniq isn’t exciting to drive, but the engine is so much smoother than a CVT. I'm all in with you that they should code it to tachometer in sport, it's simple UI change and should be able to get done in seconds by just borrowing from regular version. That tach-in-blindspot-camera thing should be carried over from non-hybrid model, otherwise they will have to develop a power gauge instead. But it's a good catch. Hyundai seems spent less time in development of hybrid and this isn't a new thing. For my 2017 sonata hybrid, the cruise control (standard not AAC) behaves weird for it accelerates to 2 mph above the set speed on uphill, and slows down to 2 mph below the setting speed when downhill. I have drove some other vehicles with unstable cruise control but this one behaves exactly the opposite. And i have drove the non-hybrid version which is fine. I think the reason is they use the program directly from gas model without considering the work of the electric motor. So when it goes up hill the electric motor kicks in, if it uses the output pattern at the rate of gas engine only, it definitely gonna go faster. And when downhill the electric motor starts to charge the battery which slows down the vehicle. Good thing is you are not going to fall into speed trap on long downhills. Bad thing is you might drives like a maniac in the eyes of other drivers for the weird behavior.

I have to agree with a lot of your comments. If they want to make the Hybrid that much more attractive to entice people to go a greener route vs. that gas model then they should be giving you some more features or at least keeping it the same as the gas model instead of taking things away. Like - > Giving us the option for a sun/moonroof (Hoping that comes into demand as you mentioned) > Throw in some LED fog lights > Lose that mustache > A tac would also be nice to have. ( Wonder if there's a way to add that in the settings. Just seems weird that they offer paddle shifters and yet don't display for you a tac. ) ~ The wheels aren't bad in my opinion. They could maybe look a little more snazy, but they're not a make or break design. I've seen worse as I'm sure you have as well. ~ The rear is another middle of the road look for me. I don't necessarily need to have LED reverse lights. If they're there, fine - if not, no big deal. ~ The back row does seem slightly cramped. So a little more room would have been nice. ~ The park "summoned" feature would be nice to have but based on your review of the gas model, looks like they still had some kinks to work out. All in all, the Hybrid is pretty nice and the fuel economy sound impressive. It's just missing out on some things that I would like to have had and left me slightly disappointed after watching your review on the gas model. Neither of which sound like they have the get-up-and-go performance that young led-footers enjoy. But again this is a commuter family car. Lastly - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go back to your original review format. It was much more organized, and easier to follow. That being said I still appreciate the info you provide and the 2 cents ( sometimes 10) you throw in. Lol Stay safe, Sofyan.

Hybrid battery comes with 10 year, 100k mile warranty

The wife has a '17 Niro and likes a hybrid. This gets better mileage, slightly better safety tech and sweet interior. Unless she wants to have a hatch trunk, I'll be pushing this as a next idea for her!

I am not saying this as a Tesla owner, but why are people comparing Tesla’s to this? They are not the same, at all.

The tachometer is shown while using the turn signal cameras. That means this is the exact same digital dash that's in the Pallisade and gas Sonata, which shows that while using the feature. You think Hyundai would eliminate that setting since the hybrid has no tach to begin with.

So do I, as I'm sure most people will. I ALWAYS hear him saying something negative about great design themes.

I don’t think this hybrid model is slower than the gas model. It makes more power. The gas model does 0 to 60 in around 8 seconds as well.
@johnnydwyer42614 жыл бұрын
I agree, watch Asian Petrol's channel and he says the Hybrid is the best choice. Not to mention, it looks the best imo

Just a tip: you are publishing these videos with 60P which causes lots of lags and jumps on my laptop which is a decent 32GB Dell XPS15 with i7. I believe 30P will be good enough and will make the video run smoother on most machines..

I really like it, the only thing stopping me from pulling the trigger on this car is the slow sport mode.
@ThtSkylineLuvr21864 жыл бұрын
If it's anything like the regular gasoline version of the 2020 Sonata, you should be able to add a tachometer on the digital display settings.

That solar roof is more gimmick than useful.The KIA Optima will release soon and it’s a good idea to wait and compare. I’ve seen driving reviews and they like the Optima over the Sonata.
@MiguelRPD4 жыл бұрын
Honestly I'm happy it's an option. It might not all be that efficient but we need to at least get the product out there so it can see more research and revisions to something useful like maybe 6miles to 8 miles daily ? That'll handle at least one way to work. (Remember it's a tiny solar panel)

Dude - great review HOWEVER you cheapen it by saying things like you don't like the rims or you don't like this or that. Those things are your OPINION and really don't matter. I happen to like the rims.

I don't like the front or there rear at all. Nice interior and I like the idea of a stepped 6 speed transmission with a hybrid. CVTs are terrible for the engaged driving experience, in my opinion.
