Awesome review! I’d argue that it does appeal to enthusiasts though; it set out to be efficient, have great tech integration, and have a reduced enviro impact. Seems like it excelled at those three things, which is really admirable. I feel like an enthusiast has plenty to nerd-out over.
@anthonyschroeder521

Yeah as an enthusiast who actually daily drives a hybrid... there is a lot of nice stuff there. You can play some really nice games with driving econ as well. A car for every function and this does it's function really well (though the CVT hate is so uncalled for and stupid. People need to try snowmobiles if they think CVTs are either slow or unfun).

EV’s are glorified golf carts and children’s toys with limited range and long refueling times. We need more cars and fewer ugly SUVs which are a menace on the road. If you see a car in a ditch nine times out of ten it is an SUV.
@PWCDN
@PWCDN 4 жыл бұрын
Why? It's gimmicky. No way solar panels of that size can effectively charge a car. extra weight and cost for absolutely nothing. You literally have to park your car outside all the time now to get full benefit, which isn't even much. You're better off installing several large panels and a battery at home and charge your plug-in hybrid. $40k is a silly price for a non-plug-in hybrid SEDAN.
@4g0tten4
@4g0tten4 4 жыл бұрын
Hybrids make sense because they can be quickly refueled, and recover energy that would otherwise be lost. Battery powered cars are toys. Their limited range is like they are running on empty even after refueling for hours. SUVs are ugly, top heavy, unstable, and dangerous because their drivers don't know how to handle the dynamics. Next time you are driving in a snowstorm or icestorm take note as to the type of car in the ditch. The ratio of SUVs to cars will always be high.

My wife had one for a rental while her RAV4 was In the shop. I couldn't believe how powerful the 1.6l turbo felt. The car rode great, visibility was great, back seat was huge. Lots of positives! I found the blind spit monitoring a bit aggressive and the seats were kind of hard after a while. It handled well around town and was an absolute highway cruiser.

I love these guys and will continue to support this channel but they could not be more wrong with the phrase “for people who don’t care about driving” when buying this car. I care about driving A LOT and let me tell you after owning this car for 2 months now I’ll never go back to anything else. It has a natural acceleration I’ve never felt in any other hybrid. So it’s very fun to drive but also extremely relaxing in stressful situations with the smart cruise/highway driving assist combo. They also didn’t mention the virtual gauge on the windshield combined with the HDA and the heated steering wheel/seats combo will make any cold morning like your own person relaxation chamber. If you’re looking to buy a fun, amazing Hybrid vehicle this is the one you’ve been waiting for!!

Because the sun doesn't always pass right over your car, at different times of the year the angle changes. It also matters where in the world you are. That is why solar panels on homes and businesses are angled to get the best and longest exposure to sunlight. There are Ev's coming out with solar panels all over the car. They still can only take in 12km of range on a good clear day of 6 hours sunlight. Check out the Light Year 1 on youtube or a little German startup the name escapes me that has all over panels, but I bet you won't like to be in that car as it is lightweight and about the size of a smart car.

I'm sure the 2 button unlock can be changed with the steering wheel control settings. I changed it to 1 press on my Hyundai Elantra and Veloster N

Yeah that car came a long way. I just don't like the front so much. But no doubt it is a nice car and good value for money!

The solar Roof in the Earlier Generation of Prius was only for Powering a fan to circulate air inside the car to keep in interior cool. The Prius Prime has a Solar roof but not Avail in North America due to Crash Tests and Structural requirements.

The quality of the image of the parking cameras is really just wow. Toyota and Mazda and the rest need to step up their game. Hyundai is basically providing really premium stuff at mainstream prices. Toyota and the rest should watch their backs but so too the premium German carmakers.

I am going to go ahead and say that especially if you care about driving, having a car this good a commuting would be great. Commuting is not fun, is not meant to be fun and will never be fun. This way you are not stressed when commuting and can have another, fun car for the weekend and enjoy driving when you are not commuting.

wow. i cannot believe that someone could do a review this good. So far, I only knew crappy reviews from other channels at are happy with talking about how the headlight leds dance or how there are controls for heating r seat. This review prioritized technical details and also cleverly mentioned all the smaller appearance/accessibility features. Great job folks :)

In America we have 3 trims of the Sonata Hybrid, and Blue is the base trim at $27,7450 AND it gets 52 combined MPG, it does not have a solar roof. To get the solar roof you have to buy the Limited trim for 35,300 and it gets 47 combined MPG. Even if you get the full 808 free miles that you calculated your cost of driving the solar roof car is still higher than the base model, so you're really not saving anything. Now, if your choice was between the SEL and the limited trims, the MPG doesn't change, so it would save a little money to get the solar roof gimmick. IF you were to drive less than 8404 miles per year you'd save money with the solar roof though, so... there you go.
