@anthonyschroeder5214 жыл бұрын
Yeah as an enthusiast who actually daily drives a hybrid... there is a lot of nice stuff there. You can play some really nice games with driving econ as well. A car for every function and this does it's function really well (though the CVT hate is so uncalled for and stupid. People need to try snowmobiles if they think CVTs are either slow or unfun).

EV’s are glorified golf carts and children’s toys with limited range and long refueling times. We need more cars and fewer ugly SUVs which are a menace on the road. If you see a car in a ditch nine times out of ten it is an SUV.
@PWCDN4 жыл бұрын
Why? It's gimmicky. No way solar panels of that size can effectively charge a car. extra weight and cost for absolutely nothing. You literally have to park your car outside all the time now to get full benefit, which isn't even much. You're better off installing several large panels and a battery at home and charge your plug-in hybrid. $40k is a silly price for a non-plug-in hybrid SEDAN.
@4g0tten44 жыл бұрын
Hybrids make sense because they can be quickly refueled, and recover energy that would otherwise be lost. Battery powered cars are toys. Their limited range is like they are running on empty even after refueling for hours. SUVs are ugly, top heavy, unstable, and dangerous because their drivers don't know how to handle the dynamics. Next time you are driving in a snowstorm or icestorm take note as to the type of car in the ditch. The ratio of SUVs to cars will always be high.

@oloilmann42884 жыл бұрын
Because the sun doesn't always pass right over your car, at different times of the year the angle changes. It also matters where in the world you are. That is why solar panels on homes and businesses are angled to get the best and longest exposure to sunlight. There are Ev's coming out with solar panels all over the car. They still can only take in 12km of range on a good clear day of 6 hours sunlight. Check out the Light Year 1 on youtube or a little German startup the name escapes me that has all over panels, but I bet you won't like to be in that car as it is lightweight and about the size of a smart car.

In America we have 3 trims of the Sonata Hybrid, and Blue is the base trim at $27,7450 AND it gets 52 combined MPG, it does not have a solar roof. To get the solar roof you have to buy the Limited trim for 35,300 and it gets 47 combined MPG. Even if you get the full 808 free miles that you calculated your cost of driving the solar roof car is still higher than the base model, so you're really not saving anything. Now, if your choice was between the SEL and the limited trims, the MPG doesn't change, so it would save a little money to get the solar roof gimmick. IF you were to drive less than 8404 miles per year you'd save money with the solar roof though, so... there you go.
