I test drove a 2021 Sonata Hybrid today. Smoothest and quietest hybrid I've driven, particularly during acceleration. Handles great too. Awesome, keep this up, Hyundai!

You are right again, Joe! For years, Hyundai made their hybrid Sonata look weirder than the non-hybrid Sonata. Now, the hybrid looks BETTER than the non-hybrid. I think the chrome on the hybrid grille is a big improvement.

Hyundai and Kia really brought their game up in recent years. It’s very good for consumers like us because now we have many different options with the same budget. And this new Sonata Hybrid here really amazed me, fully equipped and 10 year warranty just under 40k after tax, you can’t beat that. I can’t wait for my hampton gray Sonata to be delivered :)

Joe I love your reviews! A couple things I noticed during the review....its a 12.3” TFT and 10.25” nav display, you got the sizes swapped. The batteries in the Sonata Hybrid are Lithium-Ion Polymer. Small difference but the polymer is what allows the backseat to have so much room without the battery impeding

Have 2 Sonatas an '08 that I've had since '09 and a '17 Hybrid Limited that I've had for 2 years. Love them both. The older one has 240,000 miles and the one major part replacement was a half shaft. The Hybrid was probably the best purchase that I've made, averaging a little over 42 mpg in year-round driving, absolutely no problems.

Beautiful car. This is the best looking trim with that grill. I drove a limited with the 1.6 turbo 4 and was very surprised. It was deceptively quick, which I was not expecting given the HP and torque ratings. Hyundai and Kia are on a roll!

Holy Crap that solar panel roof is literally revolutionary. Watch Tesla and Toyota and etc copy that. Honestly I did not expect Hyundai to be so ingenious, and having a NA Inline 4 with 6 speed, all I can say is reliable and will last almost forever with proper care.

Depending on what it costs to add that option (not to mention insurance premiums to replace if it happens to be outdoors during a hail storm) not sure its worth the 2 miles extra mileage...and that 2 miles is only on a full charge. (People in the pacific Northwest can skip this option)

This was the hybrid car I was waiting for until I found out you couldn’t get a panoramic sunroof. Not everybody wants a solar panel trickle charger. Hyundai should at least make it an option vs standard. Still watched the entire review though. Love your enthusiasm, useful comparisons to known junk food and zonks!!

Actually they do! Theirs three different models with the limited being the luxury version with the panel, the SEL being the semi lux and the Blue being the base model with the most mpg. They all just about look, drive, and function the same. They just have varying levels of features and do dads

I like the Sonata, wanted to lease one a couple months back but the price was just too high for me. They wanted sticker and wouldn’t budge. One dealer told me I should get the SE which I didn’t want. Another dealer told me I was too picky because I was looking for a certain color interior. He even quit answering my calls.

Debating between this and the Camry hybrid. Corolla hybrid looks too bland. Camry hybrid is way more reliable and looks somewhat better imo. But Sonata is clearly winning in the features category

I remember when Ford put that grill on the 2013 Fusion, everyone was bagging Ford and complaining it looked like an Aston Martin grill...because apparently, looking like an Aston Martin is bad.

The irony is that type of Aston Grille was designed while Ford owned Aston Martin, and when they finally sold AM they retained the designer who came up with that to work on the Fusion. If you look at earlier Aston grilles..they were much narrower and less pronounced than what you see today...so technically Hyundai is copying both AM and Ford.

Great review. Just one important thing. Hyundai is pronounced "Hyun Deh" 현대 not Honday. Although not 100% perfect it'd be more acceptable to say Hunday, like Sunday but with an 'H'. Just say "Hunday," and it'll be acceptable, while being miles better than saying Honday.

I have one with the Blue Trim, and I absolutely love that car!!! I get about 53MPG. Very roomy, and it rides and drives like a dream!!! The blue trim is NOT cheaped out either!
