Reportedly you can “trick” the ram into running @ the higher clock speed, by placing the new sticks in the slot 1-2 and then place the original ram in slot 3-4. Unless you have 4 sticks of new ram.

Nice vid, definitely getting the twelve south backpack. Have seen some external ssd drives (ex Samsung T5) at about the same price as the Samsung 860 Evo when looking at 1 or 2 TB storage options. Any advantage between one or the other?

Nice! The T5 will probably be a bit faster than the 860 but not by much. it is more compact than an external 2.5 drive.

Thanks for the video. I ordered the 2020 iMac with the 3.3 i5 processor. I mistakenly ordered 16 gigs of ram and spend $200 too much. I was pleasantly surprised that when I received the machine yesterday, it had 2x8gig chips. I have ordered 32gig more which will give me 48. I also ordered the shelf for the hard drive on the back. Still trying to figure out my port usage needs. Retiring/Repurposing my Mid-2012 MacBookPro with Retina display.

LOL, I use those same exact accressories (except the airpod charger) and was thinking about making a video recommending them. Now I don’t have to. I also use the Rain Design Mbase which raises the iMac about 2 inches and has a handy drawer in it that I use to store thumb drives.

For sure the 27. Very possible there will be new iMacs this year but if you need it now you should get it and it will last for many years. Plus you can run Windows and upgrade ram if needed.

Does satechi make a usb c hub instead of just the A’s? I have the current one, but want more usb c’s. Btw. The card slot on the hub is slower than the one on the Mac.

Jaiden Lee yep. I mentioned that it’s a little slower but for me the convenience is worth it. I havnt seen one with more usb c ports that clamps on.

I got one of those USB port gizmos, but it cut the range of my wireless mouse (USB dongle) down to useless range. So then I wasted more money on the power brick for it, and still doesn't have any range.

😁 but it’s very easy for any average joe like myself to be MKBHDs fan. He is a different level, absolutely! But Anybody can easily pick the most watched videos and easily like them. But just to share on a casual note, his videos are more informative and less personal because u can never be MKBHD, let alone be anything close to him. But when I watch Dave Lee’s videos, for eg, I can easily relate to him since the content is informative for sure but personal and useful too. His opinion is straight forward & down right relatable. I find that in your videos and the way you narrate etc. I’m sure you’ll keep improving and bringing in changes, subtle or big, over time. Also, I’m neither a youtube content expert nor a professional myself. I am not being judgemental but anytime I get to see neat content, I do post my honest feedback as a viewer. You videos are really great. I just bought a Samsung 870QVO. The Samsung website only shows compatibility with Windows. Seeing your video, this one, I presume there are no issues with it working with the iMac 27" 2020. Just got the computer about two weeks ago. Love it. Also at your "suggestion" I got 32GB of memory from Crucial. Not installed yet. Have to watch your video on that. Thanks for all the hel.

The recommendation is to ditch the 8gb of RAM when adding your 32 - apparently ALL the ram will slow down to the slower speed of the original 8. Have you heard about this or do you think the difference is nominal?

I'm still incredibly happy with this Mid 2014, Maxed out at the time, but it's still completely brilliant for just about anything - apart from it's struggling these days with the 3D work - shaders etc - but it only shows its age 20% of the time (and sometimes blacks out in a hot sweat!). The other 80% it's still a joy to use. I would've waited for Silicon, but it's looking like it'll be at least a year before 27 iMacs get it, so I don't want to wait that long! Really looking forward to getting it though, even though it will be an almost identical experience for most of my days. This one's staying in the family though, my wife's going to use it ;]

the Samsung QVO is a SATA drive meant to go inside a computer. To use it with USB you need an enclosure to power and connect to the computer. Thanks for watching.

Oh man! I have not seen enough to say its good or not. I have no doubt that it has a nice matte look but the disclaimers about only using their rag, and their rag only to clean it scares me. I don't have my iMac placed directly opposite a window so I don't have any issues. Plus I use a standing desk which helps reduce glare.

Louis Luzuka you probably need to look at a thunderbolt dock. I know Belkin and OWC each make one. They are expensive but will give you the full speed you would want from usb c 3.1 gen 2 or Thunderbolt.

TonyGonzalez hi Tony, I’m not sure exactly what you are saying. You bought an HDMI to usb and you want to display it in your Mac? I don’t have any experience with this but I think you can use QuickTime or a software called OBS. Maybe something else but I havnt done this.

Gigabytes per second (GB/s) is not the same as Gigabits per second (Gbps). A byte is made out of 8 bits, which means 10Gbps = 1.25 GB/s.

The 256 gb isn’t what one would call fast .. it’s not 2400mb .. you only get higher speeds with the internal drives once you spec it up to the higher storage levels..

I think I mentioned in the video that the hub speeds were a bit slower than direct connection. SD cards were about 33% slower through the hub but more convenient.

I would definitely not give Apple that much money for 8TB. With that kind of money, you can buy a thunderbolt raid storage device , and have WAY more storage. The hardest decision I am making right now is the 27” iMac or wait for the new 16” MBP with the Max chip.

Dude the magic mouse 2 is absolute garbage. It looks pretty but its the most dysfunctional mouse I've ever used. I didn't even get a defective one, it was designed to be like this. I switched to a Logitech MX master and have never been happier.

​@@JerrySchulze The only occasion I use it is in Adobe Premiere, and Adobe Illustrator. In Illustrator I think it's very good. In Premiere, it is somewhat helpful but I rarely scroll horizontally because when I'm editing I usually drill into a very small area to do very small edits. Also, I think it could be better. The main scroll wheel, on the MX master, has a button to enable free-scrolling and the ratcheted type scrolling. I wish they would have put that on the horizontal scroll wheel also. I'm not sure why they didn't.

Jesse Greathouse some on Reddit are saying there are problems with the scroll wheel being erratic. Have you had any issues?
