Happy Friday guys! Sorry for the length of this one but we really wanted to show you ALL the differences between the Telluride and Palisade. Spending a week with both cars was a rare privilege and we want to thank both Hyundai and Kia for sending us both cars at the exact same time to make this video possible. In the end, we decided to go with the one that spoke to us more style wise which is quite literally going to come down to which styling you prefer the most. If you’re needing a family SUV and you aren’t looking at one of these, you’re seriously missing out. Let us know below which one you would chose!

Thank you very much for the nice informative review. I ended up getting an SX Telluride as I feel a bit more comfortable with it's front looks, and presence of fog lights and folding side view mirrors. The metallic grill of the Pallidade is a bit too much heavy shiny metal for my taste, although I do love the cool Palisade headlight and tail-light design. I agree the LED headlights available only on the SX model are quite bright with a long reach giving me the impression that I had the high beam light on. In any event I expect that we will see a lot of Tellurides and Palisades on the road several years down the road because I think Hyundai and Kia hit it out of the ball park with these designs, highly competitive price points, loaded standard features and good reliability.

2020 KIA Telluride EX has the worst headlights of any vehicle on the road. Drove my family in the mountains of Arizona and it was the worst experience ever at night. Driving with low beams and you basically have the power of a flashlight. We had to use the brights the entire time in order to not crash. These lights should be recalled.

After considering both versions and spending time with both. I decided to go with the Palisade. I felt more refined and felt more like a luxury SUV. Also, KIA dealers were less receptive to negotiating, where as the Hyundai dealers were more willing to negotiate pricing.

It's been 3 months since I bought Palisade in Limited trim. I tried test-driving both Telluride and Palisade and thought Palisade just felt way more comfortable to drive and luxurious to be in. If you are actually inside the vehicle, Palisade feels like it's worth $10,000 more than Telluride. When it comes to the outer look, I did not like Telluride's Land-rover-wanna-be-vibe and preferred the unique look of Palisade. Both vehicles were listed at MSRP and I decided to take Palisade. Have not regretted for 3 months now. Gas mileage is surprisingly good. The only downside is that it was hard on my wallet.

@@dallasfan5475 there were several things on the Palisade that I did not care for such as the push button gears and was not a fan of the sliding cover over the cup holder area. Also the cup holders seemed like flimsy plastic. It was just a little too "extra" for me. I preferred the more simplistic style of the Telluride. And most importantly I know they are supposed to be basically the same car but to me to Telluride drove better.

I spent so much time going back and forth between the Telluride and the Pallisade; in the end I purchased the Telluride SX Prestige, here’s why. 1. I also preferred the exterior of the Telluride, and the interior of the palisade. 2. I currently have 4 in my family, and have only used the third row seating once; therefore Pallisades powered third row seats weren’t a factor for me (keep in mind that if you need the 3rd row on a daily the seats would be up all the time, so powered 3rd row becomes irrelevant, also you can put the seats in the Telluride up and down twice before the seat in the pallisade goes down once). 3. These vehicles are big, so when parking I preferred telluride’s automatic folding mirrors ( I couldn’t imagine walking around the palisade to manually fold the mirrors when in a tight space) 4. I want to embrace the electronic shifter, but when u try and make a sudden U turn or attempt parking at a curb, I found myself constantly looking for the gears (buttons) which caused me to spend too much time doing simple tasks. 5. I like that the Telluride doesn’t look like any of KIA’s other vehicle’s., I’ve been waiting for the Genesis GV80 SUV ever since I saw the concept last year at the New York auto show. If the price is right I’ll be selling/trading my telluride for the GV80 later this year.

Too bad the Palisade has serious quality issues: Windshields cracking (current class action lawsuit against Hyundai over this), seats that smell bad, windshield wipers that stop working in the snow or heavy rain, grills with bubbling and chipping paint, and entire electronic dashes and infotainment screens that turn off. Sadly they didn't address these things in this video. But then again people don't want to hear the bad and only want to believe the good and actually insult those of us warning them about these things.

The Palisade has that "angry" look on the headlights that the recent Elantras have, but it actually looks a lot better with how it curves around to the side. It's also wild how the two cars are on the same platform, are from two brands under the same roof, but they look wildly different. Hyundai/Kia have some serious artistic talent in their design teams.

They’re supposedly building it on the Genesis G80 platform. So they’ll be able to offer better RWD driving dynamics with more powerful power trains. As for everything else, it’ll probably just use the best available materials and shinier bits.

@@josephpayton7175 correct. Same platform. Hyundai and Kia are both under the Hyundai Motor Group umbrella as you alluded to with the brother and sister reference. And if you were to throw Toyota into the conversion as the main comment mentioned I would have to toss Honda in there too. I see those as step siblings, though - Same country, different overall companies and both, from what I hear and experience, are known for their reliability and longevity (and some would say Mazda too) vs. the features and lower sticker price from the Koreans. But to each their own on opinions and preferences.

i bought Hyundai Palisade over Kia Telluride 2 months ago. I'm happy with my choice and don't feel any regret. The interior looks upscale, and feels more modern with the button transmission. I still like the front end look of Telluride, but this is a small price to pay, as I like the side and back profile of Palisade. Among the competitors of 3 row SUV, nothing comes close.

Socrates drive an rx 450h f sport and they don’t compete, Lexus has the edge on reliability but this car has more technology. Also this car has a great warranty vs the Beamer. These two cars have the most distinctive styling in the boxy three row suv segment with higher quality interiors. Love Japanese cars, but I have to Accept that the Koreans are ahead of the game & have come a long way.

We picked up our Palisade a few weeks ago. We went with the Limited in Hyoer White even though originally the wife wanted a darker color. We almost ended up with the Telluride as she was getting very anxious on the long arrival of the Palisade. And although I like the looks of the interior on both, when you start feeling everything you will immediately notice how much nicer the interior is in the Palisade. Also before I finish the video I want to see if you pick up on this. I noticed right away that the Palisade felt quicker and more responsive in handling. Taking turns feels much better in the Palisade. And look wise is what had me reminding the wife to wait. I couldn't help thinking the Telluride looked as if Mr.Range Rover and Mrs Ford Flex had a baby. I love that the Palisade has it's own identity, plus it looks fantastic in the Hyper White

These two vehicles still offer features not available on the Explorer and loaded, still sell for substantially less and are a great value.

I love my Telluride. I got rid of the captain chairs, and got a larger 2nd row. So my car seats 8 comfortably. I also added 20 inch wheels, garage control and a tow. I have always driven a Honda for the past 20 yrs. Only complaint I have is the hood you mentioned. The hood needs to be lowered. I’m 5”6’ and I struggle sometimes to see the lines when I park. Or maybe I can’t park...lol!!

Maybe I will just get one of each and every week my wife and I can switch driving them. These are nice SUVs. Kia and Hyundai have stepped their game up big time with these.

One the most comprehensive reviews for two vehicles. Anyone looking to buy one of these two SUVs could use this video to supplement any sale day training on usage and features. Well done! We just opted for the 2021 Palisades Calligraphy after trading in our 2019 Mercedes Benz GLC-63 AMG. While I would have rather looked at the upcoming Genesis GV70, it wasn't available and after two years of dealing with transmission issues (wouldn't shift 1st to 2nd gear correctly), worn out tires at 6300 miles and finally a damaged AC condenser because MB placed them horizontally along the ground, in the front of the bumper with large opening to catch rock, meant we were done with "German Quality" or rather the lack thereof. We weren't alone either. Traded with just 7000 miles on the OD, you can look at how many are low mileage trades and you'll begin to see a pattern. Sorry for the long post but wanted others to consider that some, like myself, are changing from the old guard of thought and saying goodbye to European cars and welcoming the breath of fresh air. Honestly it took me a long time to consider Hyundai again after owning one of their worst vehicles ever built (1991 Sonata) but they have really impressed me. Looking forward to smoother shifts and ice cold AC. Cheers

I’d like to see a mock-up of the car without “TELLURIDE” plastered across the front. That’s my biggest issue with the car and think it’d look much more reserved and let the nice body-lines of the car speak for itself. Kind of a nit picky complaint, but I’d remove that lettering day one. Same complaint on the Ford Explorer Sport and ST

I remember 30 years ago my dad drove two door Hyundai Excel. It was fun car and then we bought Sonata later. That was our last Korean car. But Korean cars are getting better and looking great too.

You must have not read the recent iihs headlight rating which listed Palisades headlight superior than telluride which also earned it a safety pick +. But I totally respect your feeling because it's unbiased personal feels. Great review. Been long expecting this comparison and night scene.

That only happens if you compare lower trims, on the top trims as reviewed, the Telluride is better because the lights are higher AND you get fog lights. On the lower trims Kia gives you terrible halogen projectors and that is what got them the only black mark in the IIHS ratings. Annoying they did this, because seriously for me I don't care how nice the car is, if you can't see well at night, it just isn't worth it.

Halogens are more than adequate. They may seem dim but our eyes work best in that color spectrum. You *think* you see more with LEDs but you really don't. All you're really doing is blinding opposing traffic.

@@ZCT808 can you get LED for the projector light? My 17 sonata hybrid has halogen projector light, and I dropped in a LED and it works like charm.

@@dchawk81 it shouldn't if you adjust the light properly, especially with the projector light which has a clear cut off line on top. If it's only reflector style and you use crappy LED bulb which has a LED unit at different location than the halogen's coil, it will like you said reduce the light going down to the road and creates more flares

@@NCGCDDSB123 It's a mix of crappy designs, incorrect aftermarket installations, and unnecessarily bright bulbs when your eyes are already adjusted for night. Some of it's flare but not so much. No they're not all bad but they don't actually help the driver see any better than a good halogen. They're actually worse because they contract your pupils and reduce your ability to see outside the strong pattern of the beam.

I waited for the Telluride to be released. I like Kia had two previous vehicles and they were flawless. I saw a Palisade Limited first in person. It was beautiful. Interior was gorgeous. Drove very nice. I loved features about it like the digital cluster, power folding rear seats, the interior overall, center cluster and nappa design. I then saw a Telluride. Drove it and felt that the Palisade was bigger inside but in reality it's not. I didn't care for the instrument cluster on the Kia. It looked cheap with those gauges and colors. I didn't like the nav screen just sticking up. I like how it flows in the Palisade. It's wierd because I was Kia all the way...now pricing. Dealers feel the Telluride is the best thing around. And yes it's nice but they wanted over sticker for it.. this was in April of 2020- covid 19. I purchased a Palisade limited AWD for under MSRP. It's gorgeous. I realized I liked the black wheels on the Telluride better, prob why it sells more. That's okay did black wheels on the Palisade and it's fantastic!! Now I just wanna drive it lol

thank you for taking the time to post this. I have a 2018 Kia Sorrento on lease and I also leased a 2015 Sedona. I've been really impressed with the brand quality in the higher trim levels. I've owned a BMW X3, Audi Q5, Alfa Stelvio and Volvo XC60 and rented a Mercedes GLC300. The Kia isn't necessarily better but the interior quality is right there (and maybe better than the Alfa and BMW). Anyway, my kids are getting bigger and my next lease will likely be one of these. I'm leaning towards the Kia due to the interior (can't stand the push button shifter) and the Hyndai is a little too busy looking for me. Anyway, great video -- thanks!

What's interesting is that Palisade is more European at the rear end(Reminds me of Mini or FIAT), but Telluride is more European in terms of overall body shape and cleaner lines(reminds me of Land Rover and Volvo). However, the side profile of Palisade is more like the American trucks and front of Telluride is similar to American trucks like GMC. I heard Hyundai/Kia is one of those car makers that invests a lot in designing and they have design centers in Europe, Korea and US. These two beautiful SUVs are the result of that I guess. Also, It's not surprising that Hyundai and Kia feels European when driven, because Europe is one of the markets that Korean brands sell better than Japanese brands in total. Hyundai/Kia is the brand that Germans buy the most other than their own. They actually sell more vehicle than BMW in Germany

I’m a Kia customer, not a fan of Hyundai at all. However, after looking at both of these in a car show, I have to say that the Palisade feels more posh than the Kia. The interior finishes are closer to a higher end vehicle than the Kia. My Kia Nero end of lease is coming up in May. While I did enjoy the Nero, especially in fuel economy, we definitely need more room and would like add features. So we’re thinking about moving up to a larger SUV. Originally, we had looked at the MB GLC class as our starting point, but once you add some of the safety and comfort features we are interested in, the price tag goes up significantly. Still, MB does have some extras that lower end manufacturers just don’t, plus the ability to choose every feature a la carte, but the Kia and Hyundai offer such bargains with their top end trims on both these SUV’s, that it really makes it difficult to ignore. Regardless, we’ll see what the dealers have to offer.
