My wife originally wanted the Telluride, but after finding out dealers in the US were gouging prices, I decided to look at the Palisade. We ended up with an SEL with the convenience pkg, which included the much nicer 20" wheels and many more amenities. We almost have 20K miles on it now and are averaging 23mpg. I have gotten used to, and actually love the push button gear selector and the paddles make it a little more fun when the mood strikes. It also allows for a shelf on the floor under the center console which gives it better storage packaging over the Telluride. Hyundai dealers were way more willing to deal on the Palisade as well. The reason it became a no brainer. Oh yeah, Car and Driver actually got 6.8 secs to 60mph in the Palisade and 7.0 secs in the Telluride.

Lol the lack of due diligence beyond just insane. 1. Wait till its always at the dealership getting fixed and inevitably has catastrophic failure, most likely just out of warranty. 2. Then you'll be faced with should I fix or sell it... but by then it'll be worth nothing when compared to a Japanese competitor. Even before the failure it's resale value is the equivalent of garbage. Your choice and your money, waste it how you please.
@lordmeme_3 жыл бұрын
@@schafer240 we’ve owned a highlander for the past 8 years. a friend of ours has owned a Veracruz and abused it more than our highlander for more than 10 years. Nothing wrong with either car. I know it’s anecdotal, but the Hyundai has already proven itself indestructible. Our switch from the Highlander to the Palisade was one of the best switches we’ve made from a Toyota to a Hyundai. You can continue to be negative and insistent upon Japanese superiority, but Kia and Hyundai are competitors to be taken seriously. All of their cars in the past 2 or so years have stepped it up in reliability(their cars were already pretty solid beforehand, not as good as Toyota of course, but now is a different story), and the appeal to it is insane. Regardless of reliability, you’re getting a huge value proposition with both the Telluride and Palisade. You get features(and cargo space) on those two cars that competitors like the Pilot, the Highlander, and the CX-9 simply don’t have. You’re buying a level of comfort that others don’t match as well. The amount of car you get for $50,000 is absolutely crazy given competitors prices and offerings in their cars. edited a word for misspelling

@@lordmeme_ you state reliability has been increased in the last two years... this would suggest a track record of two years of reliability... how is that proven? Look at resale value that's a direct comparison of the Precieved value of a used vehicle. There's a reason Korean are so low. And that money you saved up front you lost hands over fist in resale, not to mention repair bills, down time (cost of your time to deal with it, if you care about that) and on top of it image if your keeping up with the Jones and there lexus, etc. The bang for buck at the beginning is a distraction, to bias your common sense. I test drove both the top models of the palisade and telluride and much preferred the telluride to the palisade. While there are aspects of the palisade that I preferred over the telluride, the ride of the Kia was so much smoother and I felt much more comfortable driving in the Kia. My husband also felt the same and we ended up with the telluride. I am so happy and thoroughly enjoy driving my telluride.

@@cb9137 I own a 2020 Sonata SEL and have had it for a bit over 6 months. No problems whatsoever and it has been serviced once (3 year complimentary service) in the 9000 miles I daily it. I'm in CA and got my Sonata for a great deal with 0% interest for 60 months and $399 monthly payment. This is with it being fully loaded for an SEL. I chose it over the Camry and Accord because even though they are somewhat reliable and good cars, they felt dated. The interior in the Sonata won't feel so outdated for many years to come, in my opinion. I commute a little over 40 miles and usually average 37-42 mpgs going about 65-76 mphs. The ride is definitely comfortable, especially with the Tesla like auto drive and lane keep assistance. I'd definitely recommend this vehicle to someone, or even the new Kia K5 if you're looking for a similar car without the interior setup/appearance of the Sonata.

@@cb9137 Hyundai and Toyota should be top of your list for reliability. I've got a 2012 Sonata that we got off-lease with 30k miles. It now has 115k and the ONLY thing that has gone bad was the AC compressor around 70k. Otherwise just basic maintenance. Original suspension still rides smooth and has minimal creaks and rattles. Personally, I think the Telluride looks better inside and out, but it's really neat to have two different versions of essentially the same vehicle to pick from, depending on your style preference. *One major correction about the Telluride interior:* while you have the top-trim SX, it is without the highest-tier package, i.e. "Prestige"--and with it, you get premium nappa leather seating AND the same Alcantara headliner as the Palisade in this video. And like you said, having the black vs. lighter grey makes a difference--and the Telluride offers light-grey leather, too
@archipelago932 жыл бұрын
14:52 No, it’s NOT the top trim because you don’t have the “Prestige” package, which does, in fact, add things like a suede headliner, Nappa leather seats, a HUD, and heated & ventilated 2nd row seats. You also have a black interior vs the light grey Nappa leather one that looks just like this Palisade’s interior. So other than the all-digital gauge cluster and the push-button shifter (blegh) on the Palisade, the actual top-trim interiors are extremely similar. The Palisade has done well but it’s clear from sales figures and overall sentiment that the Telluride has won the hearts of most consumers (including me lol).

Having bought a Palisade and navigating this decision personally a few months ago, I can relate and affirm the conclusions you two arrived at here. I'd be driving a Telluride now if the Kia dealers in town hadn't been so egregious in their $5-10k over sticker 'deals' playing on scarcity. This forced me to do a better market analysis and jump into a Pali, which they were still asking over sticker on but their lot made it clear there was no shortage. The Pali, as soon as I jumped in it, won the day. Agree the exterior styling is a tad more 'youthful' on the Telluride. Regardless, that both of these cars and features exist at this price point is a win for those needing 6 butts in belts with some regularity.
