Hey Doug, I’m an ex Land Rover employee and in order to access the key hole on the door while they’re flush is just to simply press on left side of the door handle piece and pull the handle out to expose the key hole. The door handles are simply for show!

Cons: Brand can be hard to sell, Reliability isn’t the best, A lot of JLR dealers are underperforming (especially new ones without clientele) Hope this helps, but generally speaking, it’s a pretty cool brand to work for. My specific dealership (Jaguar Land Rover Buckhead) in Atlanta is the 2nd top performing JLR store in the US (behind Jaguar Land Rover North Dade) in Miami. The Miami, Atlanta, & Los Angeles stores do pretty well generally! Good luck 👍🏽

The Velar is a very elegant SUV (in silver metallic with black roof) and less pretentious than the other ones.. My only concern about modern cars filled with electronics, are all those touchscreens they all put in it.. I always wonder how will they adapt over time.. You take a Nokia 3310 and you can still call someone, send an sms, play at the snake game.. can't do as much with a 10 years old iphone.. I won't even mention androids..

Doug has stated this before that his scores are relative to every other cars he's tested. So giving it something like a 10 out of 10, he would be saying it looks as good as a Ford gt. Which isn't the case, it's a very good looking suv, but from a design standpoint, it's not going to be given an insanely high score.

@@KB-bh9hp Yeah but compare it to the other SUVs. The Cayenne, Lincoln Aviator, Audi Q8 all got scores of 7 but Doug never described any of them as "truly gorgeous" like he did with the Velar. I personally think the Velar looks way better than those other SUVs and I think so does Doug. It deserves at LEAST an 8. The DougScore is just very inconsistent and sometimes it seems like Doug is just throwing out a number without any real logic to back it up.

If he just now all of a sudden started ranking vehicles based on how they compared to other vehicles in their class, it would likely lead to mass confusion amongst many audience members. He could try announcing these changes to explain why he was making them, but most people wouldn't listen. Also, I think the aviator is as beautiful as this, I think Doug said that car was truly beautiful and stunning, which explains why the two vehicles have similar scores.

That is why you would only want to lease a Land Rover...I always thought you would have to be stupid to have one because they are so problematic, I know most people have them as a status symbol which is silly in itself...BUT I recently had the chance to to rent a 2020 LR Discovery, and wow...I totally get it now. They have so much character and they drive and ride amazingly and the off road capabilities are mind blowing. It feels like almost literally nothing could get in your way... we had a picnic on the rear tailgate almost 3 feet deep in the middle of a river!! Now we want one... as a lease though that way when it messes up is not our problem lol. Oh, and it was so quite inside which made it even more luxurious.

i swear wutever i see a range rover parked 70% it stay there for a while hahaha about a month next to my work place i saw a range rover (the 2012 model i guess) and it still there till now with 1 flat tire and one next to my house 6months and the evoque start visiting more dealers here as they start to age and break , no wonder they make them in china and britain quality controle is sheit

4:02 Doug, my dad has a Jaguar I-Pace with similar popout door handles so I assume the process is similar. If you push on the front of the door handle, the back sticks out enough to the point you can pull the handle out. Underneath is a secret keyhole!

What's fascinating about what you wrote is not the information itself but that Doug didn't bother to find out so he could include it in his review. I've always thought that Doug does this sort of thing deliberately since part of his charm is that he's wildly biased (think Maserati) and acts like a little kid who's just discovered that tires are round and wants to tell us. In other words, he's a natural troll who is so engaging that you don't mind all that much. 6'3" anyone? Or...is Doug 6 foot 4? This is a great mystery.

Had the door handles completely ice over with 1/16" of ice. Two of them popped through the ice, the other two needed some work with a ice scraper. There is a mechanism where the motors stop attempting to pop out if they meet a level of resistance. Once the ice melted everything was fine.
