What if I'm from divorced parents and live with my mom and my dad did not claim me on taxes and my mom didn't work, so she didn't file? So, I wasn't claimed as a dependent. How would that work?

Hi Israel! Sorry for the delayed response. You'd fill out the FAFSA with your mom. No one has to claim you on their tax returns - it's okay! If your mom didn't file, there's an answer for that.

I put in the school to send it to! Should I call them to see if they got it! How would I know fafsa will pay for it! Will I get call or email?

Hi Shayla! Sorry for the delayed response. The FAFSA results should be automatically sent to the colleges you listed within one or two business days. The financial aid office at the colleges you sent the FAFSA results to will send you a financial aid award letter/notification via mail or email if you are admitted to their school. You can call your college(s) anytime to check in with them. :-)

I have a question. I am 20. My parents are green card holders but they don't live in the USA. And I don't work and my income is 0. I have no tax return. So, Can I apply for student loan? What should I do to fix this problem? I have no money to attend the college. I am so disappointed. Please answer my question.

Hi Theingi! Happily, you can fill out a FAFSA and apply for federal student aid (including a student loan) if your parents live outside the USA. The FAFSA is fine with people who live overseas, even if they don't work or file taxes in the United States. The key is you - is the student a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. That's the key. The FAFSA has options to answer that you didn't work and/or weren't required to file a tax return in 2020. Give it a try! :-)

Hello, wow thanks for the great information! My son is a senior and is limbo as to what he wants to do. We were wondering if he can get Assistance through Fasfa to purchase tools and a laptop for a trade school, he’s thinking of being a electrician and joining a union apprenticeship. We live in California. Any thoughts or tips. Thanks in advance!

Hi Jose! Sorry for the delayed response. If your son is admitted into a trade program through a community college, he may be able to get financial aid for both the tuition and other expenses (ex: tools). However, I am not familiar with union apprenticeships qualifying for federal financial aid... You may want to check with your local community college to see if they are familiar with how that works! Good luck!

Thank You.Can you please confirm if a student do not have SSN and parents have SSN ,how to apply for student
@marysullivan5824 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry for the delayed response. The student must have a SSN to apply for the FAFSA. There's no workaround. So, the student would need to apply for his or her own Social Security Number.
