Tesla just disables all aids until the next ignition cycle. It might be Super Cruise that stops, turns on the hazards, and calls the police. Wouldn't it be great if cruise control and driver aids worked the same in every car? 🤷‍♂️ This isn't a price thing: For an extra $950, the SEL Convenience Package adds a leather steering wheel and shifter, wireless charging, and Smart Cruise Control.

I will be honest my son purchased a 2010 Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDI metallic blue Manual. I loved it then My daughter got a 2019 Hyundai Ionic hybrid 1.6 I drove it once and got one for myself and I have only found 2 irritating thing the bluelink software if you unlock the doors and say go back to get something else to put in the car it sends you a text to say the doors have been left open if you stop and sit in the car again you get the text after 5 min,.the final thing is it keeps turning the radio off if you are sitting in it waiting for someone. the fuel economy is wicked it has collision warnings and auto braking if it thinks you might hit something. Sports mode turns the dash red and it is mean LOL.

Several manufacturers have lane keeping aid or assist and don’t require active cruise control. The feature is billed as “lane keep assist” and works as such. In a car without adaptive cruise control and lane keeping aid, it’s working as intended. This whole video is a reach.

Did someone turn the feature off?? I agree with you about the Elantra being a great driver's car, highway car, and with a great price. I rented one for work (prior gen) and was staggered by the killer brakes. (Same tested difference as a 5-series according to the auto mags).

What stupid commentary. It's $20,000. You don't pay for beer and expect champagne. It's not even billed as a self-driving car. For a few hundred more, in the next trim-level up you get the main thing you complain is laking, adaptive cruise control. Elantra easily has the best and most advance tech in its class. That's why it''s car of the year.

Agreed with you 100%. Just bought my 2021 Ultra w/ Tech package and everyone loves it. These two are comparing a 20k car to a 100k car? I've used the lane keep, Adaptive cruise etc. and it all works great. Not that I drive that way, I'd sooner do that myself but the warnings are nice. Bottom line, it seems like you two have a lot of "dislike" for a company and car that has put a LOT into it for the price. Why is this? Also how can you state that a car doesn't do something (disable Cruise if hands are off the wheel) and the only to have moments later, kick in and disables it.... are you just making up statements based off of feel? or facts? Overall thanks for the video, it did have some good points to note and it did assist in me deciding to get it or not. (in my case, I still did). Just felt like a lot of this video was subjective and comparative to a whole other class of car.
@GlennLaycock
@GlennLaycock 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I was thinking that too - but are people silly enough to trust these systems? I found pretty quick it is just a computer helping keep an eye on me. The button on the wheel, it is what I would call "an aggressive lane assist" .. it does "get in there" and you are there to just guide it along.
@MrClassified666
@MrClassified666 3 жыл бұрын
100p. To note, you have to be over a certain speed for lane assist to work properly and they chose the worst road for line, as it is a camera system, why would they choose a road with the worst painted lines in history.

Just wow... 1. Beauty is in the eye og the beholder 2. The Elantra is not a Stinger or a Tesla 3. The features you are looking for are in the Limited not the SE which is entry level 4. The adaptive cruise control prevents you from hitting the person in front of you and it is programmable to maintain a distance no matter the speed. I also cant back into anything either due to the auto braking. Both on the Limited. 5. Why are you comparing a 20k Elantra with a 35k Tesla? 6. You can turn off and on all of the safety features very easily from the display screen. 7. Yes it has a CVT. I have the Limited and it is fantastic. Dual zone auto AC. Dual 10.25" displays. Leather. Sunroof. Wireless charging. BlueLink remote start with remote climate control. Real time vehicle tracking. Bose stereo system. And more... Drive a Limited. Nothing like the model you are reviewing.

Not to mention the Elantra is larger inside than a Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic which are Direct competitors. Both being compact sedans. Not to mention their larger inside than the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord. These two vehicles are classified as full-size sedans. The Elantra is classified as a compact sedan They also compare it to a Tesla but fail to mention the comparison between repair cost. You can’t even change a tire on a Tesla without some kind of proprietary service. But let’s leave the bygones be bygones. A Hyundai Elantra should never be compared to a Tesla. It’s just such a wide comparison.

Its "steering assist" to help you keep center lane for when you look at something to the side you wont veer off toward the edge of the road. That's all it is, not a self driving anything. @@WatchJRGo I disagree. Level 3 defined as the car is navigating for you, avoiding traffic, taking exits, turning right left on surface streets... Tesla’s new beta, in accordance with level 3, can and does require an attentive driver. On the freeway as long as a destination is set the Tesla will drive all the way there with only an occasional hand on the wheel. Tesla is far ahead of any system. I feel totally comfortable diverting my attention around the cabin, while in autopilot. From what I’ve seen the Beta v8.3 will do what the Tesla does on the freeway, on all streets. You do not say if this Elantra has LKAS, LFA and FCA. LKAS has its ON/OFF switch on the dash, while the LFA ON/OFF switch is on the steering wheel. You operate the FCA system by selecting the Forward Safety Active Assist sub menu in the LCD cluster display, under User Settings. Setup > Vehicle Settings > Driver Assistance > Forward Safety. Honestly, there is no way to know if the Elantra design is at fault here, or if lack of familiarity with the system allows the LKAS or LFA feature to be incorrectly set up/used without activating the FCA. Rear cupholders, the matte plastic was changed to a glossy finish and looks amazing, the N line having a 7 speed dual clutch and their 1.6 turbo making 201 horsepower really brings the car to life and on highway driving I still manage anywhere between 37-40 mpg. It combines economy car and fun in a perfect way with looks that could kill. The self driving feature on mine works amazingly well on the highway and I use it daily on my 40 mile drive to work and 40 miles back home. It was something I never knew I would like until I had it. I fell like it's really the perfect level of self driving, if you want to look at something that isn't directly in front of you, use carplay, adjust AC, or anything that would require you to look away from the road for any period of time it will keep you in your lane. The self steering also doesn't beep at you when you change lanes. When you put your turn signal on it automatically disables auto steering until you've merged into a lane and your turn signal is disabled. It will then automatically turn auto steering back on seamlessly. The steering wheel in the N line is also amazing, feels great in the hands, controls are perfect, and got a major looks upgrade from the lower models. The best part of all that is the fact that the N line's cost is 26,500. The dual clutch and more power alone are worth it to me but the major interior upgrades, super comfy bucket style seats, sunroof, and 10 way adjustable power driver seat make it that much better. I well and truly don't think there's a better car out there for the money. Only other options really are the mazda 3, corolla, altima, and other midsized sedans that are either 3-7k more expensive or the same price but with half the features.

The Hyundai/Kia driver aids are typically VERY good, my 2018 Niro will keep itself centered in it's lane with little to no intervention, even if one of the lines disappears. The 2021 Kia K5 we just bought has their Highway Drive Assistant, I would compare that system Tesla's autopilot. The Elantra you are driving only has the basic LKA system.

I just got the 2021 Hyundai Elantra SEL with convenience premium. Has the rear cup holders and very good crash avoidance warnings. I agree they put lots of black plastic to make it look sporty but for the price tag I am very happy with it. The lane keep works perfect in mine only have to hold the wheel to keep pressure on it while cruising down the interstate. My father has the 2021 Hyundai Sante Fe it does the full self steering mode, works great. It like watching your videos because you stay positive about bad parts but this was a really negative video for the most part, I'm not some hyundai lover I think they can do better in places but for $20,000 this is an amazing deal. Buying a new Hyundai / Kia is a terrible investment. They lose so much value, and are garbage. Some people prefer a new car. It's no problem if they're keeping it for awhile. My next car is going to be an Elantra! My buddy that was stationed in South Korea fell in love with Hyundai, because they have so much room to do your own repairs. When I was a kid people hated Hyundai, because they would blow head gaskets, but from what I here they are very reliable cars now and they are so affordable for a used one. 2017 with 46,000 miles is $12,000. 2012-2016 with around 100,000 miles on Facebook marketplace are $6000. Now I can handle those prices and the 32 mpg they get!

Over 2 months of test-driving and spec comparisons, I narrowed my search down to Tesla M3, Audi A4, C-class and Elantra Ult+tech. Ended up buying the Elantra because 1. It's actually available without a 6+-month wait lol 2. It has identical if not more smart driving tech than Audi or Benz (and ACC was better on the Elantra) 3. The IVT is smooth as butter AND provides insane MPG. 4. Looks sexier (subjective) 5. 5 year / 100,000km warranty says Hyundai knows that their cars are reliable. 6. It's cheap af. I honestly thought I would be embarrassed to drive a Hyundai but now I'm a proud owner and I will recommend it to anyone. Sonata is a good option too but extra $10k for a panoramic roof is meh.

North American car of the year - You guys realize the lane follow and lane keep assist can easily be turned off. The Lane keep assist only comes on over 64kph and the lane follow assist below that speed is only on if you turn it on. Great thing with Hyundai vehicles is that pretty much EVERY feature can be enabled and disabled. Also, contrary to what your description states - it does indeed have autonomous emergency braking.

I had an '03 Elantra GT with a manual transmission and it was a joy to drive. The only quibbles I had with it were 1) the factory radio that borked after 50 miles. I wound up replacing it with a Kenwood system and a trunk-mounted CD changer anyway. 2) The hydraulic clutch has some kind of valve configuration that made quick takeoffs nearly impossible. I learned to live with the second issue and drove the car for almost 200,000 miles before I donated it and replaced it with a 2013 Genesis.
