While #Toyota is about to reveal the all-new 2022 #ToyotaTundra later this month, the 2021 #TundraTRDPro is still available now and because the truck has been out since 2008, you get a sense that it is built to last a long time and as long as you’re okay with not having the newest tech features, it could be worth a look if you’re in the market for a full-size truck that is considerably less expensive versus newer rivals.

Happy Monday guys! Hope everyone is having an awesome Labor Day weekend. The timing of this truck worked perfectly as were flying out to a Plano, Texas today to see the all-new 2022 Tundra this week. What do you hope to see Toyota address on the new version and would you guys wait for the next generation or just buy this proven 2021 model?

The smaller turbo engine used by other manufacturers actually has worst mpg because the turbo engine is working harder and forced to work almost all the time. Reliability and durability is compromised in those turbo, direct injection engines. Making customers believe that using a small engine in a big heavy truck will result less mpg in not true and purely a marketing tactics. They dont make them like they used to. Tundra was born in a time when vehicles are over built and made to last for a long time. You cant say that to the vehicles built nowadays in this disposable age.

I bought 2021 tundra trd pro in black. Beautiful truck. Great performance. I bought it for its reliability. I don't care about bells and whistles. I could sell it right now and make at least ten grand on it. Can't do that with any other truck right now. I definitely don't like the new version coming out. Happy I got the 2021 for multiple reasons.

that's its feature though, you will never find a fuel efficient pickup of that caliber. Power = fuel. so in other words, nothing bad about the Tundra :) I think its an oxymoron to have a fuel efficient pickup. They're meant for heavy-duty work and hauling trailers.

I have a the crewmax version of this truck and yeah the mpg is terrible but I don't mind it at all. I did figure out while driving about 1600 miles on i95 that it has a sweet spot for highway driving between 60-70mph it will average around 18 mpg but as soon as you get above 70-75mph it drops significantly to around 14mpg. I bought it for the long term reliability and capabilities not the fuel economy or gimmicks. I'll drive my Corolla to save money at the pump anyway.

My family has a 2014 Toyota Tundra limited with only 58,000 miles on it! Bought it brand new in June of 2014 and it still looks like a brand new truck cosmetically! Especially since it only has 58,000 miles on it. Basically it’s been my moms daily driver for the past 8 years to and from work and we live in a small town so that’s the reason of the low mileage. It’s been on a couple road trips but we usually take our Yukon Denali on the road trips. It still has decades of life left in it and it’s been a great truck! We have no desire to upgrade to a 2022. This generation tundra has been great. One unique and dumb idea would be if you had all the money in the world, you could buy the new generation tundra and engine swap the 5.7 V8 from the current generation tundra into the new one (if that’s even possible) that sounds like something I’d do if I had money to blow.

My only complaint with this generation is the gas mileage. The EPA MPG numbers are right on. Both my 2019 Platinum and now my 2021 Platinum have averaged those numbers. That being said after I added the TRD Pro exhaust to my ‘21 I can’t imagine owning anything else. You just can’t beat the glorious sound of a V8 with a tuned exhaust. So there is that. Then there is the “massive” grill on the next gen that I have not warmed up to as of yet. The 2021’s grill is perfect imo. Great review Sofyan. All you said is true.

I am glad I have mine... 2008 Crew Max Limited. 172K miles on it. Runs like a champ. Come on Sofyan, let's be honest: 85% of trucks are used by Contractors. Hell, we beat them up; toss crap in it to go to the dump. We go to Home Depot. We get dents all over it. You know how many times I need to repair my tires from screws and nails it them??!! The interior gets dusty and dirty. At the end of the day, as long as the power windows work, the air conditioning blows cold and it starts every time we turn the key. You equate a truck like its a garage queen. I got it. You're lucky you get to always test the best of the best in each model you test. Must be nice. Most of us Contractors are lucky to get mid-grade trim truck. I'd rather get a truck that works for me. Not me working for my truck.

.I love cars too (I have a 2017 Corvette C7 with the fun manual transmission) but it ain't free and stocks are one way to make money. .,,AMAZON: Yep, I bought a ton on the dip. It's getting cheaper relative to its current earnings (half compared to last year). ...With the Delta virus coming at full speed ahead, pandemic sales will make a comeback. Amazon's not going anywhere so I know that eventually it will come back. Fidelity considers Amazon as a large growth company (probably because as big as it is, it still only has 7% of the retail market) buying via Amazon Smile donations donates some money to my favorite charity too! Get on board or be runover, it's up to you.

I 100 percent agree, imho, this coming model(s) for both the tacoma and tundra could potentially affect the prices of all previous year models, which is why I’m personally gonna wait till the release of the 22’s.

You want to replace a bulb?? Or replace the whole headlight?? Cause LED are solder and built-in into a circuit board and you have to take apart the headlight housing and heat the silicone and learn electronics to fix or buy expensive LED parts ... Really a LED is nice and brighter but in the long run, its like 100x expensive to fix or replace.. To me its cheaper to install HID or LED bulbs....

I have a 2019 Camry. Just out of curiosity when to see what kind of LED Bulbs it uses.. to my surprise there is no access to it.. so if it fails maybe 5-8 years later.. i have to replace the whole headlight or try to fix it and opened it up... So all new vehicles from totoya will come like that I assume.

I definitely prefer a v8 over a v6 any day of the week. You dont buy a truck cause of the gas miles. You buy it cause you like it and do small jobs with it. I have a totota camry if im worried about gas miles. My yukon which im replacing only gets 8-10 mpgs. So this getting 17 mpgs is an upgrade. 😅😅 Im also purchase this because they are gonna stop making v8s forever and this is the truck I want. Reliability and v8 power. And longevity

The 4.6 V8 had better real world mileage. though the epa only said 1mpg more. It was just a shorter stroke version of the 5.7. I get 17.5 to 18 in town and 21.5 on the highway. 2wd double cab. I think it was dropped for 2020. It was a nice option. I only tow a 3000# boat so plenty of power. 310hp.

440 miles on a 38 gallon tank is brutal. think a F-150 or others could maybe do 750+ miles on a similar tank size. that fuel economy was normal 10-15 years ago but isn't anymore.

Not even 10-15 years ago. I had an '04 Dodge Ram Hemi until a couple years ago that got terrible mileage too but still managed 18-19 on the highway consistently... I couldn't handle 10/14 MPG that would be a total dealbreaker.
