And the screen is actually one of the biggest, if not the biggest. This guys sounds like a hater right from the beginning. Never watching his videos again.
@connorobrien45342 жыл бұрын
The Tundra finally has a rear locking differential, and coilovers now come standard instead of leaf springs for rear suspension. This improves ride quality and off-road performance, while actually improving the towing rating from the last model. It looks like Toyota did this by strengthening the frame. The interior is a huge improvement from the outgoing model, and it has a massive sunroof. Climate controls are still buttons, and it even has heated and cooled front seats. Wireless charging too. The hybrid battery is the reason the rear seat storage is gone. The digital camo black trim is supposedly a new inexpensive, easy to replace material used in damage prone areas, like fender flares and rear bumper panels by the tow hitch. Doug did not really emphasize any of this. We have asked for more power and better fuel economy for years, and it's finally here. He did not even highlight the new 10 speed transmission? Massive improvement over the outgoing 6 speed. All of this with Toyota reliability. The tundra has never been more competitive, but this review seemed negative. The only downsides I saw were the missing front recovery hook (aftermarket fix), lack of rear storage, and no generator function like the F150 powerboost. Is there room for improvement? Definitely. That being said, I think Doug really misunderstood the value proposition of the TRD Pro model. This review was not nearly as detailed as his other recent reviews, which is a shame because there was so much content left un-discussed.

His research isnt the greatest ive noticed that in alot of videos, the v8s were also the maxforce, its not like they are overselling the v6 thats just what they have always called the motor in this truck, and i get what you are saying, if he knew what he was talking about he would understand that Toyota feels like the bumber step and tailgate steps are gimmicks to compensate. The tundra has always been like this and still sold well and the biggest point is they run forever and will still hold their value, which is what has always been this trucks selling point not bumper steps…

Ford GM and Ram are literally truck companies. The majority of their profits are from their trucks! Toyota is the leading car manufacturer globally and has the most diverse selection of cars, trucks and suv's compared to any brand. I'm really impressed by the new Tundra, I think they offer a lot of options like tailgate step up and backseat storage under the seats that you said they didn't. Though the 360 camera makes no sense hahaha. I come from a family of successful electrical and mechanical engineers and the reason most of us drive Toyota's and Honda's are because of how reliable they are. My only gripe with the old tundra was the bad fuel economy and lack of basic entertainment features and so I think they absolutely hit it out of the park with this new design. Again Toyota doesn't make the percentage of profit from trucks like all the American brands do, so I think this is exactly what most reliability-minded, Toyota enthusiasts were looking for. Agreed. Not a Raptor or TRX fighter. It almost seems like he's trying to fan out over Toyota. If this was say a Silverado then he'd likely never call it a Raptor fighter. Don't get me wrong it's a nice truck, that I'm sure is very competent off road, but a Raptor is about the closest thing you can get to a street legal Baja truck, and I just don't see the new TRD PRO as being that extreme. "pretty much everybody that buys this truck would lose 1/4 mpg and get those hooks" As someone that is currently living in Texas where all trucks sell like crazy, I beg to differ. 98% of these will never see off roading beyond a trail a Forester could handle easily, much less be in a situation where recovery hooks will matter. In fact, i'd go as far to say that 90% of the TRD Pros will essentially be pavement princesses with the occasional maintained dirt/gravel road. those that are planning to go on robust trails that would have situations where hooks and/or a winch would be helpful are going to get off-road focused bumpers installed anyway for better approach and departure angles. how do I know? that's how people use their Raptors, Wranglers, 4Runners, Grand Cherokee Trailhawks, etc here. 90% of them are on pavement for essentially their entire lives, lumbering around because the driver wants other people to think that they're active and outdoorsy. the vast majority of people that buy pickups here don't even tow...ever. In fact, I have a friend that bought a Wrangler Sahara recently, which was a shock. He hates the outdoors, doing anything outside besides a light, shaded hike, and does not have boulders to traverse on his way to work. people just want to be a part of the image because they think it gives them cache.

The service and reliability is the number one reason people choose it. Everything else is just gravy. If you're going to be spending 60-85K on a truck there's a segment of the population that want it to just work. And they want it to work for 10 years. Or 20. This feels strangely like the old T-100 marketing of how Toyota thought customers would like more fuel economy and forwent the V8. It wasn't really about the performance, just the fact that the other guys can say that Toyota didn't have a V8 and that it wasn't a real truck. Part of the reason the V8 Tundra came about was specifically to combat that and prove it was a serious truck. Ford is a great example of seeing how important the V8 is to the brand. The V6 in the F150's outperforms the V8 in pretty much everything--power, efficiency, everything....but they still offer a V8 to satisfy the tons of people who would not take even consider talking about a new Ford if it didn't offer a V8. That being said, it's 20+ years later and fuel economy and eco-friendliness is a much bigger deal so I expect this truck will do well where 20 years ago a V6 only truck struggled.
