The ZR2 is what the trail boss should’ve been. And the ZR2 shoulda taken that and improved on it by adding 35’s, wide body, and adding a supercharged V8.

But it doesn't matter, these will sell like nuts because Full Size Truck people are insanely loyal to their brand, 90% of people who will buy this truck don't care how it compares to a raptor, they just care that it is a Chevy "offroad" truck.

It really sucks being a GM guy right now, GM is totally abandoning enthusiasts (a market they've been known for since inception). The electric stuff is nice, but no one can afford it or really wants it. Camaro is a great platform, has wonderful driving dynamics and actually, a well-speced one has a nice interior (better if not on par with Mustang which no one realizes because all you see are 1LT 2.0T cars). No one would know that though because they are do busy marketing the boring XT5 (which has 0 style and is not even close to a GLE or comparable German car). Don't even get me started on why the Traverse even still exists. Blazer should have been a Bronco, current Blazer should have been an equinox. The only GMs knocking it out of the park are C8 and full size SUVs ie. Escalade, Escalade V, Yukon, and Tahoe. The current Silverado update should have come out in 2019 when they got a redesign instead, we got a half assed interior that was both simultaneously uglier and lower quality than the previous one. 3 generation family and frankly none of their new products are resonating with me, suppose all the development money got dumped into Ultium.

Doesn't the Ram Power Wagon also come with front and rear lockers to though? And I do agree that the price will be the demise of this truck. Its a 2/3rds Raptor at full Raptor price. People that are going to spend 70K - 90K on a lifestyle pickup will likely just get the Raptor or the TRX. I think the majority of this trucks sales will just go to the few die hard GM people that won't drive anything except a GM product but want something kind of close to a Raptor from the factory.

If living near the GM Assembly Plant showed me anything it's that this truck probably sat in a muddy field next to a bunch of other ones for months on end with no chips. Funny how GM will charge a absolute premium for vehicles that to them are perfectly fine being shoved in a cornfield straight from the factory and after months of sitting in they finally get to a dealer, just to get marked up 5-10k anyway lmao

At that price point, I want the long travel suspension and wide bodywork that the Raptor has, even the base TRX is starting at around $75,000, and like the Raptor comes with the "Super Truck" Baja type hardware. This truck is just a warmed over Trail Boss. The reason why it's so expensive is that the Trail Boss has been priced so high and there was no way they could lower the price too much on this ZR2.

Fully kitted it's $10k less than a specc'ed out raptor, plus you get a proper V8. Slightly better towing and payload, better interior (imo), better utility in general (also imo), similar mpg. I much prefer this to a raptor or even a trx. Plus you can actually get one of these with the chip shortage. This is a better fit for the hauling, long drives, and mudding that I do.

I actually saw one of these on the road today and I was actually curious why someone would buy it. I agree when you say the Raptor, over the past 10 years has made a name for itself. When you think of an off road pickup, you think Raptor, not even TRX (not yet at least) I just don’t understand why GM seems so hesitant to build a strong Raptor competitor, or an off road vehicle in general, honestly. They’ve missed the mark several times with the Silverado, they really missed it with the Blazer and Trail Blazer. That demand clearly exists, they’re just scared to get on board.

The ZXR2 is not A raptor. However, since a similarly equipped Raptor is 75+K and most Raptors are selling 10K or more over sticker, the real market difference right now is 15K minimum. That's what makes this truck interesting in todays current market. This truck's true competitors are the Tundra TRD pro, Ford Tremor, GMC AT4X and the Ram Rebel.
