I am liking these random bike reviews. When thinking about getting a new bike it is easy to get locked into one or two brands or styles. This type of video keeps my mind open to a wider range of options. I think my next purchase decision will come from a more educated place watching these.

If you do a stage 1 on an 883 they are outstanding... specially 2007 and up since they are fuel injected.. I bought a used 08 with a stage 1 kit and some loud Vance & Hines pipes and it's quite satisfying to ride ..it'll go 80 all day long... it'll do a hundred miles an hour with me on it and I weigh 210 lb... I'm 53 years old been riding about 35 years and the sporty 883 is lots of fun. I have plenty of faster bikes with more horsepower but that's not what it's all about... it's truly how the bike makes you feel riding. Safe riding to everybody.

@@josephmitchell6340 if you feel the need for more power eventually you can also put a big jug kit on it which will make it a 1200 ...which is fun to do as well... Enjoy your Harley... PS check the engine mount bolts when you get a chance they tend to get loose on those.👍

Hey man, I love the fact that you take such an unbiased view on things in your videos, whether teaching vids or reviews such as this one. I’ve been riding for 49 years and I bought my first Harley just 15 years ago. It was a ’97 Sportster 883, that belonged to a mate who was going to trade it in on a ’98 Lowrider. I’d been looking at the new Bonnevilles, but I rode this Sporty and liked it. My impresssions were pretty much a mirror of yours in this review and because I have always liked ‘honest’ bikes, that go where you point them, when you point them, with no fuss, I saved myself half the cost of a new Bonneville and bought the Sporty. EVERYONE told me that long distance riding would be unbearable, impossible, etc, but I’d been used to riding 1970’s Triumphs long distances and people say the same kinds of things about them, so I ignored them and rode the Sporty from Melbourne, Victoria to southern Queensland and back several times over the years. That’s over 2k miles there and back and I’ve done it in two days more than once. I prefer three, but two is do-able. I put a windshield on it about 8 years back and that made it a lot easier. Of course, I bought myself an Airhawk, to give my backside some comfort, but the bike does the job just fine otherwise. I’ve just finished a complete rebuild which includes a Hammer Performance 1275 kit, upgraded clutch, oil pump, etc, which gives me enough power to make two-up cruising easier (because I have a wife now to come with) I already had a sissybar with a pack-rack and some saddlebags, but the extra person would just be too much weight for the 883 to be comfortable with. I love my Sporty, but I’m not one of those lame people who insists that they’re the ONLY bike that's worth owning or riding. I get so tired of reviewers that show their biases, so it’s refreshing to see and hear honest unvarnished reviews like you do. Obviously, if a bike warrants negative comments, I want hear them, but objective rather than subjective comments. far too many reviewers allow their biases and prejudices to show through and that just devalues everything else they have to say in my book.

Daughter just bought one. Had a Harley street 750, very uncomfortable for her and me, not slow. But she very seldom runs rpm’s. Fit her perfectly. She liked the power, all the low end suits her riding style. Plus in years ahead will hold value better than many other beginner bikes .

I own one myself and it’s such a well made bike. Quick, fun, and easy to ride. I honestly believe the sportster has a small bit of the soul of a sportbike with how it handles. I already snapped both scrape pegs off leaning the hell out of it on twisties. It really doesn’t care what you do. Super forgiving, agile for a harley too at low-ish speeds. Hell, i dont have ABS and i’ve actually locked my rear wheel plenty of times just dicking around in an empty parking lot and even then it’s super easy to regain control. My first bike and i dont regret it whatsoever.

Keep these reviews coming. Really appreciate what you have to say about the bikes from your perspective. Ive got an 06 883. Perfect power for a beginner rider. I cant get myself in trouble given the power, and great for practicing slow maneuvers, u-turns, etc. Not great on the highway. I can do 85 but shes rung out full, and theres no wind protection for keeping your thighs straight. About an hour at those speeds is it for me, on this bike. Looking to take 3-4hr trips from charlotte to moneta va in comfort. Next bike will be something for long distances and some gravel roads. Really likin the pan am, but its so gd expensive.

The evo motor sounds so damn good with a proper exhaust. Even better than a cammed M8 with exhaust. I’d love a little bar hopper like a 1200. Even tho the Road King is actually super nimble and lends itself to short rides as much as trips Love the Harley reviews. So many bike channels joke on HD. But there are a lot of us that love Harley Davidson and wouldn’t have anything else (I don’t care if the badge was covered up.. don’t care if I was invisible to others on it .. wel.. I owned XLCH 883 right hand shift! Date sketchy. Spent one glorious winter in Boston in the basement of a house I was renting. I had the motorcycle in the basement, tools and a HD manual. Any brain dead American can follow a HD manual. It was an experience. I had no fear. I had that sportster so dialed in only a few kicks and I had it running. It was kick start only. I faced my fears and i owned that bike. Started every time. Of course I had to learn the ritual to start it. I am 145 and that bike was exactly what I wanted. I am an old man now and I day dream of riding it. It gets surreal riding the streets of the city at 2:00 am 90 degrees humidity extreme. Boston be empty on nights like that. Me and my teenage motorcycle friends went to see Easy Rider. Did not know a thing about it yet when the first shotgun blast I stood up and screamed at the movie screen in complete anger. I liked those guys.

I upgraded the performance with performance intake and tune noticable difference. Already had V and H slip on. If I need more power later I'll add the big bore kit. So the myth you outgrow these bike fast is false. Even guys I know with bigger bike are upgrading performance. I have no problem riding with stock bigger bike only limit is the gas tank and range but honestly most people are ready for a stretch when the little bike needs gas.

Since you've now done the HD 883, perhaps you could do an Indian Scout Bobber for comparison 🤙

The Indian Scout 60 is the better comparison to the 883 both smaller engine lower price and 5 speed transmission.
