I bought the 158 Storm Wolf when it came out last year thinking it could be the one board to do it all. I also have a Flagship 159W and Mind Expander 154. 165 lb, size 9. Most of my pow days are in tight trees so I still prefer the ME over the Storm Wolf. I bought the Flagship to be my go to carving board and it seems the Storm Wolf is pretty close in this department. I am rethinking my options for a dedicated carver now that you have reviewed the Amplid Centrifugal series. The Pentaquark would be more horsepower than I want. Thinking of the Surfari. Question: for a carving board to lay the trenches but be more forgiving than the Pentaquark - Flagship, Storm Chaser or Surfari?

Flagship will be the softest of the three, but the Surfari turns the best.

So I've got last year's flagship and love it for resort/trees/moderate powder in the rockies. Is this a good addition for charging bowls and deep snow days? Kinda feel like it's a solid board #2 for those steep deep days based on what you said here.

Hey, I've been watching some of your videos hunting for a new board but a bit overwhelmed by all the choices. I'd say I'm solid intermediate, I like to carve big turns in groomers and go fast. But also want a board that's nimble enough to get me through tree runs without too much difficulty bearing in mind I'm not a super advanced rider. I usually avoid the park and rarely ride switch, but still like to pop off the terrain. A board that could handle powder would be nice, but I only get to board on holiday so I only need something that could handle it not necessarily excel on powder days. I'm around 180-185lbs and size 11 (US) boots. I really liked the Superpig especially after seeing your review, but worried at my level I wouldn't be having such a great time on that board on more difficult terrain, maybe because it would be slower to turn. Any recommendations? Thanks for all your videos you are a credit to the community.

I was also sold on the superpig until I saw his libtech dynamo review. Might suit you as well. But since you're not to advanced and you only go on holidays, a fun/party board might be better.

@@AngrySnowboarder Ok that keeps it simple for me, I really like the sound of this board. So you have been asked this a million times I know.. but I'm 6'1 ~185lb. I feel like I'm dead in the middle of 151 and 154. I want to not suck at taking this thing through tight turns on tree runs, but don't want to lose out on speed/stability while carving. Thoughts? I have no clue what bindings or boots I should pair with this thing so if you could offer some suggestions can I send some beer $$ your way?

@@MrAnoniful 51, best boot is the one that fits your foot and fits your need. Ride C-8, Rome Katana, Bent Metal Transfer. Take your pick.

Was considering this board, the hovercraft and the stratos as a pow board. I ended up going with the stratos bc it seems like it would be good in pow but is more versatile and can bomb down the hill a bit better (especially in Michigan, not many huge pow days). Good decision or should I have went with this or the hover?

Stratos is the softest of the three.

@@landonrainey8141 you can pre order it. I have one pre ordered from evo. Of course it hasn’t shipped yet but most recent estimate from evo was shipping this week. We will just have to see if they got their shipment from Jones yet.

So I'm racking my brain on this. I'm 6'3" 200lbs and been 👀 a 158 bc I can get a good deal on it but hesitant cause maybe I should be on the 162; I have size 12 feet but ride +27,+15 but since the WW is only 2mm btwn 158 &162 I can probably swing it. I know weight matters more than height, but are there going to be any drawbacks with going shorter on this board?

Hey Avran, Im currently on an alchemist 157 and looking for a board for the deep days and for travel to places like japan. Im considering the storm wolf 158 or the excavator 158. 150lbs, 8.5 boot, 6ft tall. What would you recommend?

No.

Would Stratas be too soft for this? I understand that it's a stiff board, but unsure if the carving style you mentioned would lend itself to a surfier binding.

You'll lose too much power out of the rear foot when you drive it. If you wanted similar but with more power I'd bump up to the Falcor but even that might not be enough.

Great review! I am doubting which size to go with, I have been riding a Jones Flagship 161 in the past few years, I am 185cm tall, around 80kgs. What would you suggest? Can I get away with the 158cm?

It wasn't available with the links you provided, I had to go elsewhere. Should be here in a week which is perfect timing. I'll be up in Breck 4 days in a row Jan 10-13th. SUPER stoked!
