Better than Lexus' really irritatingly and stupidly hard to use Remote Touch. Doesn't matter if it's a remote touch nor a trackpad. I like this eletric car. It doesn't shout that it's weird. It's just a normal SUV that looks like a gas car, but just so happens to be electric. So many manufacturers seem to think they need to build the next Cyber Truck and I think that alienates a lot of people that would get an electric car, but they don't like all the extreme stylings and weird designs that other car companies are going with today. If it weren't for the grill and the fact that there is no engine noise, I think few people would know that it's electric, and I think that is an appealing feature to a lot of people who just want a normal car without all the gimmicky over styling that modern electric cars suffer from. It might look cool when Tesla did it a few years back, but nothing beats simple designs

This seems like a great car - I like the GLB and Mercedes in general. Interestingly, though, it does continue to highlight what a value the Cadillac Lyriq is - that car is just a few grand more but doesn't feel 'entry level' in the slightest, unlike the GLB which is always has a sense of being an entry level vehicle. With that said, if I was "actually" picking between the two, I'd probably end up with the GLB :-).

When mentioning the Model Y and the Mach E you gotta remember that those are not luxury vehicles - not even close. Even though this is an entry luxury vehicle, it's still a Mercedes and you will notice that instantly when you sit in it compared to a Model Y or a Mach E. This is eventually also shown by yourself by not comparing it to those cars in the DougScore, so it's weird mentioning them as being "better" during the video.

Doug -- would be interesting to compare this to a Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge, which has Polestar 2 power/range but with more practicality. Also, with these DC fast charging electrics, it's probably worth recording a peak kW charge figure. The manufacturers are tossing out these 10-80% times but it's worth verifying whether that's attainable for the end user. I suspect the EQB has an 85ish kWh battery, so to charge 70% of capacity in 30 minutes, you'd need a peak rate of charge around 120kW. It matters if a user can really get that.

So the charging is rated 10% to 80%. So the real range is 70% of 230 from the EPA. So according to the EPA you will get 160 miles going from 80% to 10%. That sounds kind of bad.

Wrong, the EQB is 5cm/2inches longer and 3cm/+1inch higher than the GLB. The boot/trunk space for the GLB is nevertheless slightly bigger. 495L vs 570L.

These storage compartments under the trunk floor drive me nuts. Plenty of room for a spare wheel, but no EV manufacturer actually provides one - even as an option - because EVs are apparently immune to punctures.
@benjaminrobinson3842
@benjaminrobinson3842 Жыл бұрын
Apparently so are petrol-engined vehicles, because it's becoming increasingly less common to find a spare on those, as well. A BMW rep at a car show said, "Well, everyone has a cell phone nowadays." Yeah, well that doesn't work so well if you neglected to charge your phone, or if you drove to an area with bad reception before having your flat. (Not to mention that it can take quite a while for roadside assistance to arrive.)

@@benjaminrobinson3842 if I were a car designer, I'd make sure all my designs incorporate a spot for a full size spare tire.....even if I have to stick it on the back of trunk or tailgate like how they did back in the old days, like Spiderman used to say: Everybody gets One.
@richardnedbalek1968
@richardnedbalek1968 Жыл бұрын
This EQB is not on MB’s dedicated EV platform. With drive batteries, electric motors, control units, etc., there might not have been room for a spare. Hopefully, later model years on MB’s MMA EV platform will allow spare tire stowage.

With the added weight of the battery, I can't imagine the base model 220hp/290lbft torque version being anything but slow.
@viperhd70
@viperhd70 Жыл бұрын
Depends on your definition of slow. The 300 does 0-60 in about 8 seconds, plus with the instant torque of an EV, it's fast enough to be fluid in traffic. I have a 350 and tbh it's overkill for this type of car.

I always thought the B looked better than the C for some odd reason... Front end is gorgeous on the GLB compared to the GLC. What's interesting is that its electric and my bother in law had $11,500 worth of repairs made to his 2018 GLC 300 engine wise, so I wonder if electric is better long term since maintenance costs are minimal. Also what would be the equivalent to Service A and Service B with an electric car?
