Wanted to drop a comment: I have the EQB300 as a rental since my GLE350DE broke (once again). Honestly very good driving experience and the EV works just great. I'm having the EQE SUV in 2 months but if I could choose I would drive this EQB for the remaining 2 months. Electric is just way more superior compared to plug-in hybrid. And I can only charge at 2kW home. Still no problem. Last night I charged for like 150km and tomorrow I'm starting the day at 100% charge. I've driven the car for like 300km in total this weekend. Oh and I like the looks of this car compared to many EV's. All around just well done.

Well, it's been a month and I'm watching this excellent review again. I finally got some seat time in an EQB and it really did surprise me! For the jump in price from ID.4, I think you get a bit more than a 3 pointed star. Availability for 2023 seems to be improving as new year models arrive - I'm cancelling my long in the tooth ID.4 reservation and moving my chips over to EQB. Thanks Tom (as always) for being my sherpa!

Nice review Tom. The hiking boot analogy is spot on. The side windows look larger than other brands, which I like. Concerning climate and electric vehicles, here it’s incredibly cheap to charge at home, principally because of 60+ hydroelectric dams throughout the Northwest. But the biggest hurdle that I see in the future is the lack of charging infrastructure for apartment/condo residents. Even all those luxury apartment dwellers in downtown Seattle….where are they going to charge overnight?

Another fine video. And you mentioned how a friend got a Suburban (?) for MSRP through your quote service. It made me think that if you want to promote your quote service a bit more, that might make a good video--find some success stories, maybe get some testimonials, and do a short separate video about it. And/or incorporate short success story examples into your main videos. You might also consider doing a short "how-to" video walking people through how to use your service. Or maybe do a video highlighting "those cars currently with the highest availability or with the biggest discounts" vs. the opposite and show how that works.

What does Hyundai know about battery technology that Mercedes doesn’t? Low recharge rates seem to be an issue with most brands. Walking or riding a bicycle is something a lot of people don't think about; reminders may get people out of the car. You did not mention maintenance costs; ok, EVs don't often need it, but in Europe Mercedes tune ups and spare parts, at Mercedes; are surprisingly economic; much less than say, Audi who think because they offer you an espresso, you should pay very high for a standard tune up.

I don’t see this car for the average user. For road trips a hybrid or Tesla is better. For around town a smaller EV like a Bolt or Leaf. We also live in Seattle, and have a Nissan Leaf SV plus for around town and a Subaru Legacy for road trips.
@DrivenCarReviews2 жыл бұрын
On the contrary, for the average user this is perfect (if not a little expensive). Nearly all miles driven are within a 100 mile radius of an owner's home. The whole roadtripping thing is kind of overweighted, at least statistically.
@mishibird2 жыл бұрын
You don’t need a ICE or hybrid for road trips. I also live in Seattle and have been all electric for over four years. Our previous Bolt EV went with us to all the national parks in the region. And the ID.4 we’ve had for over a year has gone all the way to Sonoma and back and this past summer to crater lake and back. The charging infrastructure has improved markedly in just the last couple of years. The DC charging speed on this EQB would give me some pause though. That’s quite a bit slower than even the ID.4.
@DrivenCarReviews2 жыл бұрын
@@mishibird The Bolt is pretty dang slow. Kudos to you.
@mishibird2 жыл бұрын
@@DrivenCarReviews indeed. That’s why we didn’t go road-tripping much beyond the range of one full charge with that car. Thankfully there are level 2 chargers in places like Olympic NP and North Cascades where you can plug in while you spend the day hiking. Road tripping with the ID.4 is a breeze though.
@MechayaAlta2 жыл бұрын
@@mishibird it’s good to know that the charging infrastructure is getting better all the time. When will there be parity with what Tesla has, or when will Tesla allow other EVs to use their chargers? The EV go where I live only works sporadically. Good that I have a charger in my garage.
@jeremyjones60762 жыл бұрын
Definitely would cross-shop this with an ID.4. The Merc badge does not compel me, but the refinement of the MBUX interface is alluring. It's an even prettier penny to step up to the EQB if there is a disparity in federal tax incentives penalizing EU-made vehicles starting… well basically now. Hopefully that will be sorted out with some horse trading over the next few weeks. I know which way I am leaning, but also willing to be surprised.

It's interesting that so many electric cars still cling to grills (or big pieces of plastic that looks like one), and I can only wonder when some brands will abandon them or find a better way to keep their identity while minimizing their presence. Until then, most of them look antiquated, like they have overstayed their welcome. Anywho, great review Tom, nice presentation.
@DrivenCarReviews2 жыл бұрын
Well, I've not seen fully elegant design languages when eliminating the traditional grille so there's that. And airflow is still needed for battery cooling. Many designers are looking at the "grille" as more of a large logo and a shield to place sensors. It'll evolve. Slowly.
@trevorsutherland52632 жыл бұрын
There are restrictions on the height of the front of cars for pedestrian safety reasons. A "blunt" nose speads the damage to a human body over a wider area than a "narrow" nose. If the nose has to be tall, you may as well pretty it up with something (unlike the "duckbill" slab seen on a Tesla, which is quite ugly).
