The #VolkswagenJetta is VW’s signature car in the US. Even though the latest #VWJetta is no longer the company’s best-selling model, it still manages to be right behind the top-selling Tiguan and Atlas in the lineup. For 2022, the #Jetta gets a new 1.5L turbo engine with more power and up to 43 MPG with the standard 6-speed manual.

This car is designed for an audience that wants to go unnoticed in a crowd. It’s stylish but boring, it’s slow, but sporty, its interior is plain but somehow luxurious. It’s a german car through and through.

I have a 2022 and a 2019. I also drive a lot. I bought the 2022 4 months ago and the 2019 2 months ago. Both cars have already been driven about 10,000 miles. I started exclusively driving the 2019 to and from work to keep miles off the 2022...lol. Personally, I prefer the analog gauges in the 2019. But I like the look of the 2022 better. The 2022 also feels quicker.

I've had two Jetta's. Current one is a 2020 and it has been great. My day to day commute is 20 miles round trip. I can run on one tank for close to three weeks and get over 400 miles out of it. I took it on a road trip to Dayton Ohio (from Texas) and my best range on a tank was 570 miles. I keep it in normal mode. It's quite with minimal/wind road noise. Car has served me well thus far.

I was the proud owner of a 2017 Jetta SE w/manual until it was unfortunately totaled January last year. Absolutely loved that car. I bought a 2020 Jetta R-Line a couple weeks after my accident and thought I would love it as much. I didn't realize the car didn't have SiriusXM until I drove it off the lot. I didn't even look into that before going to the dealership. I knew the redesign came with a torsion beam rear suspension and thought I wouldn't mind it nearly as much as I did. I've been in a 2021 Jetta GLI for about a month and a half now and the ride is so much better. It's nice to see Volkswagen add a fair amount of features to the Jetta for this model year, but that rear suspension would be a deal breaker for me since I've had the opportunity to experience both flavors.

I test drove this '22 Jetta SEL and the '22 Civic Touring last week, both drive nice. I'm choosing the Jetta SEL due to it having an 8-speed automatic vs a CVT. The Jetta also has ventilated, and more important for me, two-way lumbar support. Honda missed it by not having lumbar support with ventilated a nice bonus for this price point. I enjoyed your review, this is going to be a great all around daily driver plus a comfy road tripper.

The car had never given me problems other than a failing headlight. The best part is that it's in mint condition and I'm planning on selling my current Jetta for this one. I love this idea too but they aren't profitable and the government regulations on smaller vehicles are much more strict on fuel economy than trucks and SUVs, so that doesn't help make them any cheaper to build. @@NoZenith I don’t disagree, but that’s a sad thing in my eyes. It will mean that I’m officially out of this segment. Hopefully the hit the dealers at the end of this month. Because as of now there is a bunch of 21’s getting dumped with a discount (rare during this time).

With this VW in the year 2022 does it still have the ambient lighting on the dash and doors? Just curious

Is that a typo on the 0-60? Motortrend gets it to 60 a full second faster... The 1.4 was 7.8, the 1.5 is 7.6

I hope they improved the over heating causing the radio to go out. That’s always annoying. It only happens when the heat is on

I don't get why they don't add the auto-hold feature to it, it also wouldn't hurt to add front and back sensors to the fully loaded model, they're practically free!

I own this 2022 Jetta SE with 9000 on odometer. ride is 10, mileage is 11...a great commuter for my 100 mile commute. the only thing that is annoying is the throttle is so jumpy. the turbo kicks in hard when i just touch the accelerator. I'm going in for my 1st oil change this week and will mention. otherwise she's awesome. don't hesitate to purchase!!
@barbz_zayne
@barbz_zayne Жыл бұрын
9,000 miles and first oil change? That will ruin the engine very quickly. If you do them about every 7,000 miles you'll be doing much less damage to your engine.

In 2019 this car came out with amber signals in the rear. Then they were gone since the 2020 MY, for shame VW. They looked really good when it had them.

sorry but a 15 min review that doesn’t discuss highway passing, braking, cornering, etc. isnt worth much. i test drove a 2017 and 2019 1.4 jetta and both ran out of oomph in highway passing, is the 1.5 any better?

I wish they would redesign the tail lights to give a more European look. So many cars have this same look but this design is much improved over the really plain old design.

Why are all the Americans saying unreliable?? Is it just an American thing or do you not maintain cars? Volkswagen is extremely reliable here in Europe, I've had a good few and never had an issue?
@corybureau4124
@corybureau4124 4 ай бұрын
you've just answered your own question. it's both. VAG doesn't care about northern US. Volkswagen of America market sales are the smallest percentage factor, so we have crap dealers, and our Volkswagens are assembled in Mexico, or USA minus the Golf, and Arteon. also Americans do not service their cars. i've personally never had a Volkswagen leave me stranded, but Japanese makes take the cake with above average reliability where we live.

I just gotta ask, when you review a bunch of cars like you do, does it ever get boring when you get a commuter car like this? Not knocking VW, I just didn't know if seeing sooo many different vehicles takes the wind out of your sails a bit.

After getting rear ended, I rented this car. I usually drive a 2016 charger. With that said, I didn’t expect to be impressed by this car. However, it is sneaky fast. The turbo makes switching gears smooth, and the sunroof is pretty cool. Unfortunately, the car is so small it feels like it’s going to fly away if you have a lead foot. Ultimately, this car is definitely impressive, but it doesn’t have balls. Then again, maybe it’s because I’m not used to driving compact 🤷🏾‍♂️
