The smooth grunty BMW boxer engine has been around for 100 years now and just gets better and better. it's low and wide design not only looks beautiful but makes for a great handling bike. If you could only have one bike then this one does it all

Only someone who hasn't driven it or can't afford it can talk bad about the GS. It is pure nonsense that these motorcycles break down often, on the contrary, they are among the most reliable motorcycles in the world. I'm driving the fourth GS in a row and never a problem!
@laceyunderall683 күн бұрын
Yep exactly! I've done 200000klms on 4 GSA's over the years and never broken down once. Dealer servicing is important more than ever though.

I took delivery of my 1300GS Adventure a couple of months ago. That is my 6th BMW GSA, I have never had one issue with my bikes, besides smashing a aluminum pannier on a tree stump on a single track trail, but that’s on me.

Yes the BMW is the gold standard of travel bikes. I purchased a new 2017 Yamaha Super Tenere. It has not once seen the dealer. Much as I love the BMW GS I just can't trust it on a cross country trip when it gets out of warranty. Also too many electronics and features that take your focus off the act of riding.
@vvevvevvvv3 күн бұрын
Super Tenere is a hidden gem. Simple, reliable, build like a tank. You can actually work on it and fix something. This is what needed for the real adventures. Not the variable valve timing, quickshifter or SOS button.

Is ten times easier to do a valva adjustment on the gs than on the super tenere.@vvevvevvvv

If you want a Gs type engine, get the Moto guzzi Stelvio. Sure, you could even buy two of them
@svenrobin40882 күн бұрын
I like the Adventure much more than the "normal" R1300GS, because that looks much more powerful. The bigger tank and some other features inspire me more than the normal one, but this is online my personal taste.

They are sweet machines. My dealer has had them in stock along with the LEGO looking GSA. But I will still ride my 2020 GSA for a long long time. Let the bugs get worked out, maybe in 2027 I will consider the step up.

The GS is such a great looking bike. The only short coming to me would be the smaller gas tank which will probably allow up to 200 miles but not much beyond that. The GSA on the other hand is ugly. It probably will be a great on road ADV bike but it isn't good looking.Thanks for the heads up.

Compared to my Ducati MTS, I tested this and wanted to switch back to BMW as a previous GS owner. Aside from the noticeable torque (and engine noise), the Ducati is much more exciting and handles better IMO. However, looking forward to riding the GSA and the ASA version. Does anyone else think this 1300 is still falling short of the Ducati?
@THE-APEXКүн бұрын
I’ve had three GSs, two 1100s and an 1150, and now I’m on an MTS 1260s. I agree, the MTS offers more excitement with the difference in HP, however, and this is a big however, on my GSs, when the road ends, the fun begins. The MTS isn’t nearly off road ready, so I avoid it. The GS, with the shaft drive and telelever can take a ton of abuse off road routinely, without hesitation. I struggle with the realization that I currently own 75% of what I really want. MTS is GREAT on the road and is fine for fire roads, but it stops there. My two cents.

Because a lot of buyers are buying them. If you've never ridden a boxer twin, then you might not understand why. As for their uniqueness, Moto Guzzi makes a similar transverse twin, and Honda has made them in the past.

BMW motorcycles are one of the best in the market (whether we like it or not). They come with everything one may want (not necessarily need) for long touring rides. Yes, they’re expensive, but that’s why not everyone can afford them. I would suggest you test ride one to appreciate them. I’m not a BMW fanboy but I get them. I’m happy with my Africa Twin, but that’s a different story. Thanks Greg for doing all of these bike reviews, maybe next time you’ll do a smaller bike like a Himalayan 450, or CRF300. Thanks for sharing.
