With Chevrolet reducing the Bolt's price by $6,300 for 2023, and with GM re-qualifying for the $7,500 federal tax credit starting in Jan 2023, the Bolt and Bolt EUV quickly becomes one of the cheapest long range electric vehicles you can buy. With the tax credit, some owners may be able to pick one of these up brand new in the low $20,000 range. Will that enticing price be enough to put one of these on your short list? Let us know below!

be prepared to see a massive loss in value for your 2022 bolt. my 2020 fully loaded premier has a KBB trade value of 28k, i stopped at the dealer last week to see what trade difference would be on a new euv. they said my car is only worth 20k now. 44k sticker price new, not even 2 years old, now worth 20k. thanks GM. and they still havent replaced my battery on top of it. People forget to mention that Chevy is installing chargers for free in your home with the purchase of every EV…not sure how long that’s gonna last, but it’s definitely a great incentive.
@broodwars1776
@broodwars1776 Жыл бұрын
Not for free... it's a discount. The discount usually will cover a standard install (a 240v socket right next to your electric panel). This would mean that if you don't have a garage, or your panel is in your basement, of if you want it hardwired on the opposite side of your garage, etc, it would cost you extra. Typically the quotes from Qmerit are also inflated.

Glad to see the EUV get some love. We recently purchased the EUV Premier with Sun and Sound Package for 37.5K out the door. It is a great daily commuter and my wife loves it. I drive a Model 3 and can no longer justify the high price tag of the Tesla. Also, whereas Tesla over-inflates their range, the Chevy does not, and we are able to meet the actual range that is listed. If they keep the prices of the EUV down, they will continue to sell well. In addition, because we already have a 240 outlet in our home, Chevy gave us a $500 dollar EVGo credit.

He's the car version of the smart phone reviewer that complained and rated Samsung flagship phones lower because they had a plastic back instead of an all glass back like the iPhone while completely ignoring that the reason it had a plastic back was so you could swap the batteries. So Samsung raised the prices and made an all glass back and now we can't replace the battery once it starts to degrade after 2-3 years and are forced to buy a new phone because paying someone to replace it cost almost as much as a new one. Except in this case he complains about cheap cars being cheap feeling and they eventually make it with higher quality material and raise the base price to where the average person can't afford it when new.

He’s not the only critic making these completely unfair comparisons. I don’t get it. It would be like comparing a BMW 3 series to the old Chevy Sonic. Nobody would do that in the ICE space, so why do it in the EV space? The Nissan Leaf has a similar starting price. Compare it to that. But he does give it a fairly positive review.

I drive about 1000 miles per month, mostly in the city. I bought a loaded 2022 Bolt EUV Premier in August. I went EV for the smooth power delivery, as I was growing increasingly tired of the clunky-laggy-jerkiness which afflicted ALL of my ICE/automatic transmission vehicles. Holy cripes you're preaching to the choir. I have a Kona Electric and during the battery recall debacle I had to drive a loaner Kona ICE with a CVT, and a venue with a CVT. The Kona was hot garbage and I hated every second I drove it, the Venue was pretty bad too but I had to give it points for only weighing 2600 lbs and being a total tin, so it was much more fun to drive than the ICE Kona. Still, it's absolutely night and day, going from an economy-EV back into an economy-ICE feels like you're getting into a broken car, it's like you need to write and mail in a requisition for torque every time you step on the gas peddle.

Seems like he’s trying really hard to hate this car. I get it, it’s not a premium EV and it wasn’t intended to be one. This was built to address the problem of EV adoption which is price. Not sure why journalists always compare this to the Kona, Mach E, ID4 or even a Model 3 as those are way more expensive, and it’s a diff class of vehicle. 50kw could use an upgrade, but from my experience, most dc fast chargers are around that speed anyway. I like the information on the seating and the look and feel of the cabin. It is good to point out that it is far from ideal for road trips over a few hundred miles. I like the reviews here nearly all the time but I would like to add a counter point to this one. 1. Pricing, The vehicle was compared to others that cost much more. The Bolt EUV MSRP is $27,200, the Model 3 is $9490. Over 81% higher. It is like comparing an Accord to a G80! Even the ID.4 is close to 40% more expensive. 2. I am glad it is front wheel drive to keep the price down as well as the smaller rims. The low price niche is the one that needs to be addressed not the AWD niche. 3. 0-60 in 6.82 seconds was down played as not bad and respectable. Where as I believe if you make a list of quickest cars under $28k this would be near the top. 4. The comment about Chevy taking half a year to figure out how to fix the batteries is kind of a back handed dis when it was a mfg. process issue folding a metal component inside the battery at LG Chem who happens to be the 2nd largest EV battery supplier. IMO when the tax credit applies especially this car is an amazing value that is incomparable for anyone that can charge at home and needs a city car.

I agree with all your points. The Bolt EUV fit the bill exactly for what we needed and wanted in a second vehicle and we're really enjoying it, especially for its price and feature content. I usually like these reviews, but this one was overly critical and harsh in a lot of regards. When you compare what you're getting for what you actually pay for a Bolt/EUV, there's really no competition. Of course the vehicles significantly more expensive are going to be larger and offer more room and features. Not everyone needs or wants a larger vehicle though.

I purchased a 2022 EUV Premiere back in late July after selling my Audi S5 and loving it! It's perfect as a commuter vehicle, not road tripping as Sofyan says. Yes ridding a ridiculously excellent vehicle like an S5 was tough but I don't miss spending ~$100 a week at the pump. Now I spend $1 a day capping off the battery. One of the things Sofyan may have overlooked was that CHEVY PAYS FOR THE 24OV OUTLET INSTALLATION if you don't already have one (otherwise they'll give you $500 in credit to use at EV stations). Not too sure if that's valid in 2023 but it was for me in 2022 and without the installation it would've cost around a thousand bucks. Not too shabby. Things to keep in mind is that if you get SuperCruise it's a subscription based service AFTER three years (afterwards costing $50/monthly). That sucks! Otherwise excellent techy commuter vehicle. And don't believe the hype, the tires aren't constantly chirping out every time you hit the accelerator. I don't think anybody should be recommending a Leaf in good faith, it's astonishingly outdated. The piddly 50kw charge rate in the Bolt is basically space-age technology compared to most Leaf models' DC fast charging capabilities (exception being the e+ model), not to mention using an obsolete connector type that is rapidly falling out of use. Then, there's still no adequate thermal management in the leaf so the batteries will eventually cook themselves if you DC fast charge with any frequency. I think an EUV is drastically better value and will be much longer lived because of it's liquid cooled battery pack.

I'm taking a contrarian view here. I think Chevy did a super job on this Bolt. Great features, humbly attractive, good range, and accomplished its mission of creating a very good city/commuter vehicle at a bargain price point. I dont envision buyers taking hours long road trips in the Bolt, but instead trips to the beach, grocery, commuting to work, etc., so I dont see charging times as an issue. I dont see how these can do anything but sell like hotcakes, esp the top trim here at under $30k with the tax credit, which imports wont enjoy.

The only time I'm leveraging that 400+ hp or torque is during on-ramp freeway accelerations and that's it. I can leave the car in Chill mode and I wouldn't miss much. Thank you for asking Bolt owners not to use the 350kWh stations--unless that's all that's available of course. It's frustrating to pull into an EA site and see all 350k stations occupied by Bolts and ID4s and the 150kWh chargers empty. Oh well, I can still use the 150 and be up to 80% and gone while they're still there.

One thing that stuck out to me (negatively) was the position of the charging plug/cover...that area is very close to the front tire and if this car gets into a front side swipe accident or fender bender I would be a tad bit concerned about that area...I don't see any particular reinforcement from the outside of it. Bolt EUV Advantages vs. Tesla 3/Y (I’ve had both): Heated AND Cooled Seats Glass Roof actually opens and vents Power Sun shade exists Adjustable regen braking Better exterior camera quality Humans to interact w/ if you need help Literally 1/2 the cost. After T price drops lol. Autopilot is what now, $12K!? That’s like 30% +/- of the Bolt EUV. SuperCruise is a few grand more. You get something to charge your EV with. Tesla is $250 to get a power cord. More to instal a charger. Rear seat pass. can adjust their own heated rear seat! I’ll take that over no air vents (btw- air vents on Tesla rear are like turbo jets and you can only change deflection, not fan speed or output in rear! Unless adjusting it for entire car) Btw- AWD is overrated, get good tires! If it snows 2’ you’re prob not going to work anyway so you’ll be fine when the roads are plowed. Even in Colorado!! Especially in CO! AWD in Tesla sucks because you still can’t stop (see above about regen braking adjustment) once you get going.

Would compliment a 2 car household. The lack of back seat vents for the kids means I have to full whoosh the center AC to get air back there. That and the limited fast charge and slippery tires with underperforming traction control just stymies what should be an easy decision. Great competitor option in this space.

I slowed down the charging rate whenever I charge my Tesla Model 3 to extend the life of the pack. Every feature being either "unexpected" or "surprised" demonstrated the incredibly low bar you set. It appeared the only redeeming quality you found was the price tag, all the while comparing the bolt to vehicles whose owners need occupy an entirely different tax bracket. I watched your Kia Nero EV review directly before this and you ohhh and ahhh over the exact same features like it's the first time you've seen them. The praise you heaped on that vehicle for being so similar to the bolt, albeit for 10K more comparably equipped I might add, and yet the kia still somehow came up short by most metrics from my objective eye. I own a 2020 Bolt EV Premier and placed an order for a 2023 Bolt EUV with the same options as the reviewed EUV.

Best Comment I got from the dealership to justify the markup is this: "Well, I know if I sell this car to you at MSRP, you can turn around and sell it for a $15,000 profit. Why would a dealership do that if they can do the same thing by selling the car to their relatives?" I had so many good come back lines but, yeah, these dealerships will have a huge markup for this car in 2023.

I got my 2023 EUV Premier with Sun & Sound for under $40k, after all tax & fees. I got my car after it was delivered, 3 weeks, after I dropped a deposit on it. I wouldn't even take my car for service if a dealership told me the nonsense they gave you.

Nice video. I have watched many reviews of the bolt euv and yours was the only one that pointed out that the rear seat heaters were only 1 level. 👍 A few things that I think are not correct. There is no duel zone climate control available. It was also stated that the $7500 IRA credit will be available starting in January. The car should be eligible for 50% of that but the other half will depend on the battery. The eligible amount has not been announced yet.

Thanks for the excellent review! With all those incentives and price cuts plus the panoramic moonroof, it's definitely an electric car to consider! They should only improve the range of the battery! Congratulations to Chevrolet!❤️❤️👋👋👋👋👋👋

It is an actual Sunroof (a moon roof doesn't open) that opens up a lot more than our 2018 Hyundai Ioniq Electric's sunroof does.

Nice review. I like this car. But I was wondering when are you doing a review on the 2022 Nissan Rogue Platinum with the new 1.5 VC turbo engine.

Terrible video! The car is a basic low price vehicle that regular folks can afford. Not sure why your bashing it while comparing it to all the high priced cars that cost twice as much? Im just happy someone is making a electric car under $30 grand.

I don't care about your opinion, just do a review of the vehicle. Most people don't need it want to waste money on four wheel drive and 17 inch tires are not dorky. Just how insecure are you?

Does anyone know who makes their battery. Do they have a charge limity that stop the charging at 85%?

21:52 "You better tell that Bolt owner to go move that vehicle." Seriously? Far as I remember, every person that is paying for their charge is entitled to use that charging station. Might want to revisit your elitist stance. Remember that EV adoption is still under 10% in this country, and vehicles like the Bolt will be the gateway vehicle to make mass adoption happen quicker. Encourage the adoption, not confrontation between EV drivers
