I sold my 2019 Mustang GT Performance and bought a 2022 Bolt EUV Premiere. The Mustang has phenomenal steering, suspension, and handling. Your criticism of the Bolt’s steering and handling is well off the mark. I’m actually quite impressed with it’s road manners and handling. It’s low center of gravity, even weight distribution, and firm suspension make it easy to point into curves. Steering doesn’t feel vague to me. I use it to commute to work, not to break lap records at Willow Springs. This car is excellent for the price.

I drive the car like I have an egg between my foot and the accelerator and my average is 290 miles on a full battery charge (4.4-4.5 miles/kwh)!! I never have to use public DC fast chargers. We go on trips 2-3 times/year. We normally have to stop about every 1.5 hrs just to get out and stretch and visit the "outhouse" or eat - so we plan charging during those stops - no big deal. Probably it's just that the accelerator response is more gradual rather than going to 90% in the first 10% of the pedal travel. That's great for selling cars because it "feels fast" but it sucks to actually drive because you hardly control it.
@zsebi696 Жыл бұрын
@@fluffysheap the GO-pedal is very flat curve and gradual in the Bolt. Even when placed in sport mode it is not 90/10. What makes it awesome is that you could be cruising at 45-50 mph, falling a sleep at the wheel and stump on the go pedal and it still put you back in your seat without any feel of a typical Gas car where the engine need to rev up and the trans need to shift down. I do that with my passengers and always get a " what the hell is wrong with you" response. It is instant torque at any speed. That is the beauty of any electric motor. You have max torque from RPM 1- onward.

While I've only had mine 7 months I haven't had any of the problems that you mentioned with the back hatch handle and I use it daily. I absolutely love the super cruise. I will admit that I bought the bolt strictly as a city car so the range does not disturb me at all or the charging speed. The one pedal driving is awesome. I have it on 100% of the time. By charging at night with my electric companies electric vehicle discount at cost me approximately $4.20 for a full charge. It is EPA rated for 247 miles. I constantly do better than that reaching between 255 and 260 miles per charge. (I believe that's mostly because I almost never drive on the freeway). I rented one of these for a week, just as a "no obligations extended test drive". I found its acceleration more than adequate, though, it's not a P series Tesla. Air the tires up to 44 PSI front, 42 PSI rear, and you can easily exceed 247 miles on a charge. In normal day to day driving, I was able to clear 4.6 miles per kWh according to the car, which I think measures from the battery. I used a meter to measure the kWh through the charge cord, and cleared 4.18 miles per kWh. ("plug to pavement") That's far ahead of the 3.4 miles per kWh according to the specifications. The window sticker shows 115 MPGe, but according to my meter, I got 140.8 MPGe plug to pavement. According to the car, I got a whopping 155 MPGe! To use my meter, I had to charge level one, and I set the car to draw 12 amps, to charge at ~1,400 watts. I have no idea what the efficiency would be on level-2 charging, I don't have the right meter to measure that. I have no clue what the efficiency would be on DC fast charging. Being that I could actually get closer to 300 miles on a charge, I never used more than half the available battery capacity on a single inter-city round trip. I never had occasion to use a public DC fast charge station.
@carbonking5310 ай бұрын
Never air tires over the max PSI listed on the tire sidewall. You should also factor the tire pressure increase while driving. Those max PSI numbers are there for a reason! An overinflated tire is prone to sudden failure such as bead separation from the wheel or total failure if you hit a pothole or object.

When did 0-60 in 7s become "slow"? Car reviews are weird, just because a Model 3 is as fast as Porsche 9-11 Turbo doesn't mean that call EV's have to be like that. Most cars on the road are actually 0-60 in 9s when you look at all of the older Civics and Corollas still on the road.
@terrancecloverfield6791 Жыл бұрын
Yup. I've driven a lot in my brother in law's Model S Plaid. The 0-60 sounds nice until one realizes how much it tears up the tires. Additionally because >90% of cars don't have the same 0-60 speed, the utility of that torque is limited anyways.
@toddkovalcik332 Жыл бұрын
I so agree with you. 99% of normal average drives could car less about 0-60. This is something that car geeks and enthusiasts worry about and that's fine. @@diesixdie Ironically, I bought a Model Y 2 months ago and love it. :) Suddenly, since the price came down by $17,000 since I posted my comment about it being "ugly-ass", I find it quite the opposite. Funny how that works. I've always wanted a Tesla, for the tech, but the Model 3 was the only one I could bare;ly afford, and I don't really like how low it is compared to the Bolts. (I still have a Bolt in the family, though - my girlfriends). The S and X are both out of reach, for me. So that leaves the Y, which happens to be perfect. The price is now doable, I prefer an SUV, it bigger and wider than the Bolt - and I'm 6'4" with a wingspan to match, so I like the extra elbow room quite a bit, and I got red with a white interior and tricked it out with chrome rims and Ferrari yellow center caps and a wood dash and door trim. It's gorgeous! And 0-60 in 4.2 seconds with the Acceleration Boost option, which I'm adding s a software upgrade in a few weeks. It's 4.8 now, though, so still very fast. I had issues with it, originally, with no 360 top-down parking assist - but they've added something akin to it, and it's pretty decent - and no sideview mirror warning lights for blindspots. But they added something for that, too, which is good enough. The Super Charger network really makes it, along with the software. So many cool features. But it's still a pricey car. Just not as much as it used to be. I will always have a soft spot for the Bolts, though. I've been driving them exclusively since 2017. There's no better value out there, for sure.

I have a first generation Nissan Leaf (took delivery in 2011) and am starting to think about replacing it since the battery pack is now down to ~45 miles range at 80% charge. Overall, a super car. One glaring issue he didn’t mention is range. He gave this lovely summer time perfect condition EPA number. Expect the winter range when it gets around 25 degrees or less to be around 170 miles in my So if you’re planning to go for trip of an hour and a half or two hours, you’ll need to have a point to charge at the point B or you won’t get back to point A.

I ordered one back in September and it’s scheduled to be built in mid-December with a mid-January target delivery date. I like the body style of the EUV more than the OG Bolt (someone once described the Bolt EV as “egg-shaped” and now I can’t un-see it 😅) and at 6’1 with tall family members, the interior of the EUV felt much roomier than the Bolt. I obviously don’t have mine yet but the one thing I dislike right off the bat is the position of the brake lights. Every other hatchback and crossover SUV has the brake lights on the sides of the trunk door but Chevy decided to put them on the lower bumper?? It doesn’t make sense to me. My parents have a 2019 Kia Niro EV and in three years of ownership, they’ve only used a DC fast charger twice. We have similar driving habits so I’m not worried about the charging speed at all. Overall, I think it’s a great car, and more companies should make basic EVs that look like cars, not spaceships lol

We have two cars and the best of two worlds. We use the Fiat 500e almost exclusively. On round trips of 50 miles or so it's perfectly adequate but if we want to take a trip we have an older Toyota Prius which gets close to 60 mpg. Perfect combination.

A quick search reveals the range on the Bolt in cold weather, 20 to 30 degree F, drops the range to 66% of EPA range estimates of 259 miles, that's about 170 miles. I live in the Chicagoland area where temps can easily drop to -10F. What would the range be at that temp? Then we have the opposite with temps exceeding +100F, what's the range there? These are all legitimate questions that the sellers of EV vehicles should be required to reveal in writing to all consumers so they can make an educated purchase.

Here in PR (US territory), we are severely screwed by GM. Their dealers here ask $20k over MSRP on their Bolts, and there is nothing that GM does about it, they don’t care. Today I went to see a 2023 EUV with MSRP of $27,995, and the dealer said they had a “rebate” and a “special” offer on it for $47,995. Wtf???!! The $7,500 Federal Tax rebate does not apply to Puerto Rico given the lion’s share of the island do not have a federal tax obligation. No FITW from their income. Moreover, shipping a vehicle involves shipping costs and a massive import tariff north of 8K.
@elcano9l522 жыл бұрын
@@inhocsignovinces1081 nope, EVs are tariff and tax exempt in PR. The cost to transport the vehicle from US mainland to PR is around $1,200 which is already contemplated in the MSRP on the Local Tax department sticker. There is no excuse to this. So we have big dealer markups, + no tax rebate. And just FIW, we pay 15.3% federal tax for SS and Medicaid, the local “Hacienda” taxes, and a 11.5% state sales tax, which all in total sum to a lot more than most people pay in the mainland. There is just no excuse to a $20k markup on EVs. Gas vehicles are sold close to MSRP.
