While no one has ever questioned the off-road chops of the Ford F-150 Raptor, quite a few fans were not happy when the 2nd-generation raptor arrived with a turbo-6 under the hood instead of a V8. Well, it’s taken Ford until now to finally address that situation, and boy did they ever!

I mean it’s still more than my 2001 Ford F-150 which only gets 11 mpg. Although I started to micro play with the throttle and brakes and if I don’t accelerate too aggressively than I’m able to get at most about 170-300 miles out of my 20 gallon fuel tank

The exhaust clips don’t tell you how loud this is in real life. I was in another non-R gen 3 Raptor at the time (which by the way is a very well-insulated car), and it still felt like the earth was shaking as it went past. For some reason he decided to switch it into Baja mode and I could hear it loud and clear from 100 ft away.

I couldn't justify the R for the off-road capability with the price difference (almost double the cost of the Tremor). I bought a Tremor 5.0 with all the off-road goodies and am getting about 20 mpg combined. I hope they fixed the oil consumption issue. I was going to buy another Tundra because of reliability, but they didn't seem that interested, and they ditched the V8. I hope the Ford doesn't let me down too much. Happy so far though. Peace, Love!!
@GRH9705
@GRH9705 Жыл бұрын
The F-150 Tremor is a great truck and I think you made a good decision picking the Ford over the Tundra, especially for off-road purposes. No recovery hooks was a fail on Toyota's part. I was on the waitlist for the TRD Pro for 18 months and decided to stick with my current gen Ram Rebel once the Tundra showed up at the dealership. Ford Tremor, Ram Rebel, and Chevy ZR2 are all better off-roaders than the TRD Pro, which is a bit painful for me to admit as a longtime Toyota fanboy. The Raptor, Raptor R, and TRX are overkill for 99% of off-road truck drivers but look at them for what they are; an absurd but ridiculously fun toy to bring out the inner child.

@@KartKing4ever Resale alone on these things is insane but that's our current economy. To compare this consider pricing on lesser "off-road" trucks like the Ram Rebel, Ford F-150 Tremor, Chevy ZR2, and Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. In most cases those are $70k trucks. Why wouldn't a limited production, legit Baja style truck with 700HP fetch a $100k+ price tag in today's market?

If you had thought about what I wrote before you quickly jumped to make your Smart mouth remarks, you would have figured out that yes, I know what a trackhack is because I OWN one. I don't care that a Cobra or many other similar cars can out perform it. This is Anerica and in America we still have free speech. @@johnmcmullen456, face it most (American) cars as a whole are going away other than lousy + also overpriced electric ones. Ford itself currently only produces the Mustang model of pony/muscle cars. They consider the Mustang Mach E an SUV. There are still many foreign manufacturers that still gladly manufacture cars though like Honda with their brand-new Accord. Tons on American folks love trucks + SUV's today! Try hauling 6 people (or more in some cases) in a car or having 8-14 inches of ground clearance beneath them or "selectable" 4wd or AWD systems. My previous Ford Taurus SHO had AWD, but obviously couldn't go offroad + current Subaru cars/suv's with their AWD systems can go offroad, but have no selectable "2wd" for fuel savings or the fun drifting or smokey burnout! Also try hauling 1,000-3,000 pounds or more with your car of any type or towing even a meager 5,000 pounds, obviously not happening. Trucks + alot of today's SUV's have become dominant. They indeed offer alot more capabilities in most cases + are as safe (large size) and ride as comfortably as most of todays cars. Sadly because of this + sheer want/demand of them, truck & SUV prices have also soared. I'm indeed loving my brand-new 2022 Ford F-150 (holdover) Super Cab (6 passenger) XLT 4x4 with the popular 2.7 twin turbo V6. Today this truck is only considered lower-end to mid-level with such luxurious offerings like Ford's Limited, Raptor or Platinum trims. But I'm vastly pleased with the quietness/comfort of this current 2021+ F-150 design! Rides as good + as quietly as ANY car I've ever owned, hauls up to 1,500 pounds or so + tows up to 8,200 pounds in my trucks configuration, axle gearing etc. I've even achieved 20-22 MPG in mixed work/city driving driving on "cheap" 88 Octane (E-15) gasoline which it's rated to run on. It's small 2.7 liter EcoBoost twin turbo V6, only 165 cubic inch displacement (smallest motor Ford has ever put into a full-size pickup truck) produces 325 horsepower + 400 lb/ft of torque in stock form. These numbers can "easily" be vastly increased with simple bolt-on parts or tunes. In stock form in professional testing it's said my F-150 rips from 0-60 MPH in less than 6 seconds (5.7 or so in my configuration) + does low to mid 14 second quarter mile ET's. Such numbers equal or beat alot of today's current family cars and also some pretty sporty models of not too long ago. With some select bolt-ons + a decent tune, my truck could achieve 0-60 MPH in the mid 4 second range & mid to high 12 second quarter mile ET's. With more mods there is a 1st Generation 2.7 twin turbo EcoBoost V6 Ford F-150 on KZbin doing low 12 second quarter mile ET's with over 210K miles on the odometer! Go Blue Oval. My F-150 was also a large upgrade from my 2020 Ford Ranger which itself was quite good compared with most of todays midsized trucks.
@johnmcmullen456
@johnmcmullen456 Жыл бұрын
@@kriswinger9391 There are 2 types of pickup buyers, those that actually need them for towing and hauling, and those that just like the image. I see much more of the second group. My southern neighborhood is full of crew cab, short bed 4wd 1/2 to 1 ton pickups owned by 2 person households that never go off road, can't fit in their garages, and never hauled more than their groceries. I grew up in the 1960's in a 5 member family and my father always bought 2 door full size cars. Same with his friends. Very large families bought station wagons that could also accommodate 4 × 8 plywood sheets & drywall, etc. These full size cars were usually body on frame and had a generous towing capacity as well. Don't remember any complaints. Pickup trucks at that time were for farmers and businesses. In the later part of the 1970's came the big interest in pickups for the suburbanites, especially with the younger generation. Chrome roll bars with off road lights, front bumper brush guards, white wagon wheels with knobby tires, & lift kits were must-haves for the incrowd. Again, most were flashy street cruisers. That was the beginning of the end for muscle cars. It may have a lot to do with the heavier horsepower killing emission regulations on cars vs trucks in the 70's. I have driven my brother's 2021 F150 with a 5.0, pretty impressive, but how much more enjoyable the driving experience if that powerplant was in a 1,000lb lighter 2 door mid or full size rwd muscle car that didn't look like a box, and could actually handle? We know that isn't going to happen. The manufactures' cash cow is the truck market, and we're seeing the further discontinuance of cars and even the loss of a choice of cab and bed styles for pickups. There are a few foreign car alternatives like the Accord, but it is now fwd 4 door only, no muscle car, and any V8 import is tremendously expensive. I am all for having affordable choices, but that is being taken away from us. In the past the most powerful engine was a reasonably priced option available on even a base model, today it requires a special edition model like a Raptor & TRX, fast approaching $100k. That is out of reach for all but the weathy. Tough being an old guy remembering the glory days.
