I came from a fully loaded Volvo XC40, to the Turbo Premium CX50. From my view the CX50 is just a luxurious, but a bit more fun to drive because the incredible steering.

Best to wait a year or two after a new-gen vehicle is released, to allow automaker to work out some of the kinks/problems often found in earlier productions units.

It's a new vehicle but the driveline is all proven stuff so I wouldn't be too concerned about kinks. Really the only new bits are the body panels. The rest of the vehicle is the Mazda 3/CX-30 platform. The 2.5L engine and 6 speed trans are very proven units. They may not be state of the art technology but they work really well and are very durable.

I prefer the CX5. Its higher. With climate change, we have to deal with floods due to water level higher. Hmm...🌊🌧

@@zalmilahbaharuddin1928The CX-50 actually has more ground clearance, 8.3-8.6 (depending on trim) compared to the CX5’s 7.5. So if ground clearance is important for floods I would recommend the CX-50 😉

I’ve never owned a Mazda. I’ve been driving Toyota’s, Honda’s and a Hyundai. While I’m not currently in the market for a vehicle, I would definitely look at a Mazda next time around. As I’ve gotten older I have become more practical. I worked in the automotive industry my entire working career so I feel like I may have a little more knowledge and experience than the typical person who is my age. Perhaps not. What I look for in a vehicle is much different than it was 40 years ago. A lot of the content in vehicles today I have little use for, I.E., the panoramic sunroof is the prime example. I’ve owned 4 vehicles with a moonroof and I would maybe use it once in a while, but my wife never wants it open as either the sun is too bright or the cold in the winter radiates down through the glass. When it’s open it messes with her hair. Maybe I’ll have to get rid of her!

Do you really need a turbo? You can’t really go faster with turbo. Speed limit is getting less and less even with all the technologies in the new cars. More speeding cameras too 😆

Yes yes you need a turbo. It makes a huge difference in trims and making the vehicle not feel like driving a refrigerator.

At first glance the CX-50 (or the CX-5 as well) seem a bit pricey but really to get an SUV in this size range with this much power and the features they have you pretty much have to spend a lot more $. I can't think of an SUV as nice as the CX-50 with that much power for the same money let alone for less money. The CRV and RAV are great vehicles but they cost just as much and have way less power and not nearly as fun to drive as the Mazda

Not sure what the point of lowering and SUV is? If you don't need the increased ground clearance buy the Mazda 3 turbo.all wheel drive. Essentially the same vehicle but lower and lighter and quite a bit cheaper. Not quite as much cargo/interior room but not far off.
