Baseball is nowhere near simple. Simple would be something like European football: only the goalie can use their hands, keep it in bounds, and score goals. The most complex rule in that game is "offsides". Then you look at baseball and you get stuff like stealing first base after a third strike, infield fly rule, and no bunting with two strikes. Not to mention all the uNwRiTtEn RuLeS that cause most of the fanbase that is one of the most elderly in all of professional sports, to clutch their pearls.

the pickoff limit makes sense because of the pitch clock. when a pitcher picks off or steps off the clock resets. so pitchers could just keep picking off/stepping off, making the pitch clock pointless. same rule with the hitter, they only get one timeout per at bat, to avoid them from resetting the pitch clock
@TheInker Жыл бұрын
Exactly. If there's no disengagement limit, there's no pitch clock.

it's way too low a limit ngl though. The 2023 baseball season has been FREAKING AWESOME! I love it! Yeah, there's always going to be some work to be done figuring out the nuances of new rules, how to implement them, and what needs to be changed, but on the whole, the changes that they've made have obviously impacted the games positively, IMO. Which is funny, because I was one of the curmudgeons complaining about the new rules and how awful they'd be. I freely admit that I was dead wrong. (Although there are still some things that need to get cleaned up within these changes.) And I love that there seems to be real excitement in MLB this year, too.

So baseball has been a sport I’ve never really given a chance a fair chance. Like most kids I played T Ball and some coach-pitch, but I was just terrible and didn’t understand the game / didn’t have the motivation to learn. I, of course, got into the other big American sports, but as I matured baseball began to pique my interest since my dad has always talked about how nuanced of game it is. But because it’s a rather subtle game I’ve had a hard time finding an Avenue into the game, but BDE is seriously becoming that avenue. These videos have opened my eyes to the hilariously beautiful culture of baseball. Coming from watching the NBA or NFL, the atmosphere BDE paint’s in these videos is such a big breath of fresh air. You’ve got weirdo’s, hotheads, great storylines, a rich history, passionate fans… there’s just so much to love and the culture around the game is distinctly unique compared to other team based sports. I hope to start to really pick up the rules / depth of the game and start watching here soon, but I just wanted to share and thank you BDE for you great and easily-watchable videos!

Great video!! This season has been crazy so far and it’s only the middle of May. Can’t wait to watch the wild pennant races later in the season.

Blue Jays set a new season record, over 59,000 hot dogs sold at the game tonight, they have a giant scoreboard that keeps track lol Edit: jays just tweeted the actual number - 61,111 hotdogs sold

I’ve always kind of paid attention to baseball, but this year has made me actually fall in love with the sport. I’m so grateful for the rule changes which made the sport fun and exciting to watch again.

I have watched the Os my entire life and refused to leave them behind even when they were considered the worst team in the entirety of sports in 2018. Seeing them do well genuinely brings me joy and I will always be a Baltimore orioles fan. (If they move to Tennessee they gave up on me not the other way around but doubtful it will happen)

Why the smaller pay teams do good. Bc some ppl play for the money. Some play for the love of the game and just take the money they get.

It started with the Jays homerun jacket and the influence has spread across the league. I love it
@grahamdamberger7130 Жыл бұрын
The Jays are no longer doing the home run jacket, but at least other teams are upholding their variations of the celebration.

I’m pretty sure it started in college football with the Ball Out Belt at Alabama, then copied by a lot of other CFP programs. Other sports have taken notice though.

Honestly, I gotta respect the lower payroll teams massively, and as a Yankees fan it makes me so confused wtf we’re doing with all our money😂 An orioles jersey is looking all the more tempting to buy…great video!

It's quite simple. The Yankees win every year. They don't play pathetically and lose miserably for 3-7 years just so they can get cheap top draft picks every year. The Yankees have to buy their players and draft very scrupulously since they make the playoffs every single year. The Yanks drafted Judge and Garrett Cole, for example. They also drafted Jeter, Volpe, Severino, Bernie, Posada, Mattingly, etc.

Firstly, did you seriously censor the word "ass"? It's a minor curse word. KZbin doesn't even demonetize that word anymore. 😆 Secondly, the craziness of the 2023 MLB season is what the league has been needing for *so long* now! 🤓

I am a Canadian who made the Mariners my fav team after learning their history. I dont care to watch baseball on TV but I love that the mariners exist against all odds still and its just like a team for the love the game 😭 My brother in law cant understand how I choose them over the only Canadian team 😂 But dang. Just the fact the Mariners still exist and in Seattle still makes me irrationally happy

The Baltimore Orioles now have a section at Camden Yards called the Splash Zone. Whenever an Orioles player hits a double or higher Mr Splash would spray water on to the fans sitting in the splash zone.

As a lifelong Orioles fan (wasn’t alive to see the 1983 World Series), this season feels absolutely surreal. Second-lowest payroll in MLB, and my O’s have never played better. 30+ years of waiting looks like it might finally pay off. I just hope they keep that momentum after the ASB.

30 years … you’re a casual ass fan .. they went to back to back ALCS’s in 96 and 1997 (had the best record in the majors in 1997) 2012-2016 they had more wins than any other AL team including 3 playoff appearances… i was alive when they last won their world championship in 1983 … stop the cap with the 30 year BS …
