Hey Thanks for some awesome reviews. I an currently trying to decide between a -thunderstorm or Capita mercery to replace med T.Rice pro from 2015. I mainly carve or play around on groomers unless there is fresh snow when I will always be chasing powder. I only ride two weeks a year as I do not live near any mountains. So it is pow if the weather gods fancy me if not I will going fast on pist or fool around on side hits. I never ride park, and if I do I only do the jumps never any rails. Just as a note will a Thunderstorm 159w be enough or should I go 162w? I am just above 90kg and wear a size 12. Best regards Peter

I've watched so many of your reviews before deciding to buy my first board! I really appreciate the effort you put into these reviews. I've narrowed it down to the Bataleon Thunderstorm, Beyond Medal, and Ride Shadowban. I know that there are other differences besides 3BT, but what I'm really looking for is quiver killer, a board that brings joy to the ride, helps me improve my skills. I've been riding for 15 years now, mostly in Austria, sending it down groomers, and whenever possible, on powder. Would say I ride rather agressive. I've never been much of a park rat, but I'm eager to explore more into butters and hitting sidehits. As for bindings, I've pretty much talked myself into the Astro Asym. For the width, you don’t necessarily need to get “wide” sizes, just avoid boards that are too narrow, say narrower than 256mm - and this is just a reference point, it depends mostly on your preference. Sounds like they dropped the Thunderbolt and re-packaged the Thunder with a better top-sheet, made it less of a volume-shifty, and drop the flex rating. So instead of making it a mountain hard-charger, it’s a free ride pow board with 3BT. It’s rather disappointing. I wanted to make my 158 Thunderbolt my daily driver, but i damaged the core when I clipped the front on a tree stump at mount hood. I was hoping the Storm would be an ideal replacement. Sadly, it is not. The Thunderbolt was a good board. It’s literally light in weight in comparison to the Mega Merc, but the Mega Merc is a few grams lighter.
@maxnguyen2875 Жыл бұрын
I feel like it's the exact same board. If you look at the specs, they are identical.
@Anukulous Жыл бұрын
@@maxnguyen2875 Thunder and Thunderbolt are not the same animal. I doubt the Thunderstorm is anywhere near the bolt. “What’s his name” compared the Thunderbolt to the Capita BSOD, Ride Berzerker, and Jones Flagship, and there’s a reason why. The flex on the board was like an 8.5 or 8. The weight of the board was almost as lite as a Capita Mega Merc. The Thunderbolt is one or two grams heavier than the Mega Merc, and I own both boards. The Thunderbolts flex from nose to waist is so stiff, you have to lean your entire body forward to butter on it. The front of the Bolt is basically a weaker bulldozer version of the Ride Commissioner. The Bolt must have a ton of carbon. Probably more carbon than fiberglass. I destroyed the core on my Thunderbolt. I am going to continue waiting on a better successor . I’m betting that the 3BT on the storm is different to the Bolt, and carving is way different between the two. Otherwise the storm would washout a lot too. Last year’s Goliath 3BtT is different to this year’s adaptation.
