NE Michigan sucks too. August we had west wind, cool Temps. We're getting coho and few kings. For the last 2 and half weeks, east wind hot Temps, and fish just shut right down.

I think most of us noticed the same during king week, very short bite window! Worst part was even the silver fish had horrible quality meat, not even edible for smoker. Only had 3 fish all tournament on reef runners, everything else was on j-plugs. Definitely a strange year... Seems like warmest water all August I can remember

They haven’t began their main push yet. Too hot as of late. I did manage to get up to northern Michigan and fish the Platte River. I hit it perfect as a major cold Front passed through and the river loaded with thousands and thousands of coho’s. Did catch a king as well. Caught 60 in three days. Didn’t even try to go after the kings in the other river system close by. The Betsie river.

Here in se wi , its dejavu every yr it seems like in the last 20 yrs or so, is warm water inactive fish and a very short bite window at certain times and certain days, then a decent to good bite for a couple days in early/mid october for zombies then its over. Plenty of fish around but it seems always the same very slow when it should be lights out.....?

lol I pier fished southern Wisconsin, best luck I’ve had in years, good silver kings, Labor Day and week after

Oh ya that warm water grind can be a real pain especially if you're a shore guy it seems like the king seasons are getting shorter year by year as this warm weather sticks around longer

I would have to disagree I’ve had one of my best years already in southern Wisconsin just gotta find the schools

From my observation and reports from other anglers, September has been a strange month. There were a handful of good days, which always came after rainfall, and was even more exciting when the water was cold. But on any other day, things have been quite dead. Even if they were there in 40 to 50 ft of water, they would hit nothing. This is in respect to shore casting spoons at the rivermouth, as well as trolling on a boat . It seems like crankbaits and plugs have been far more successful in the last week or so. I think the water temperature and lower water levels than previous years around this time have something to do with it

Mark so many fish in the harbors but the high water temps makes it nearly impossible. They just don't wanna bite anything.

FYI. I’ve been using a gaff in the fall instead of net. Much easier in a kayak

Lmao I spent a good amount of money on salmon gear this year since I am new. I’ve heard how bad of a year it is and just thought “yep that’s my luck”
